5:1 それから三日目のことである。エステルは王妃の衣装を着け、王宮の内庭に入り、王宮に向かって立った。王は王宮の中で王宮の入り口に向かって王座に座っていた。 5:2 王は庭に立っている王妃エステルを見て、満悦の面持ちで、手にした金の笏を差し伸べた。エステルは近づいてその笏の先に触れた。 5:3 王は言った。「王妃エステル、どうしたのか。願いとあれば国の半分なりとも与えよう。」 5:4 エステルは答えた。「もし王のお心に適いますなら、今日私は酒宴を準備いたしますから、ハマンと一緒にお出ましください。」 5:5 王は、「早速ハマンを来させなさい。エステルの望みどおりにしよう」と言い、王とハマンはエステルが準備した酒宴に赴いた。 5:6 王はぶどう酒を飲みながらエステルに言った。「何か望みがあるならかなえてあげる。願いとあれば国の半分なりとも与えよう。」 5:7 「私の望み、私の願いはと申しますと」とエステルは言った。 5:8 「もし王のお心に適いますなら、もし特別な御配慮をいただき、私の望みをかなえ、願いをお聞き入れくださるのでございましたら、私は酒宴を準備いたしますから、どうぞハマンと一緒にお出ましください。明日、仰せのとおり私の願いを申し上げます。」 5:9 この日、ハマンはうきうきと上機嫌で引き下がった。しかし、王宮の門にはモルデカイがいて、立ちもせず動こうともしなかった。ハマンはこれを見て、怒りが込み上げてくるのを覚えた。 5:10 だが、ハマンは自制して家に帰った。彼は使いを送って親しい友達を招き、妻のゼレシュも同席させた。 5:11 彼は、自分のすばらしい財産と大勢の息子について、また王から賜った栄誉、他の大臣や家臣にまさる自分の栄進についても余すことなく語り聞かせた。 5:12 ハマンは更に言った。「その上、王妃エステルは御自分で酒宴を準備され、王をもてなされたが、王のお供として誰をお望みになったかと言えば、このわたしだけだった。明日もまた王と御一緒することになっている。 5:13 だが、王宮の門に座っているユダヤ人モルデカイを見るたびに、そのすべてがわたしにはむなしいものとなる。」 5:14 妻のゼレシュは、ハマンの親しい友だちと口をそろえて言った。「五十アンマもある高い柱を立て、明朝、王にモルデカイをそれにつるすよう進言してはいかがですか。王と一緒に、きっと楽しく酒宴に行けます。」ハマンはこの言葉が気に入り、柱を立てさせた。
[ 5 ] 5:1 Now it happened on the third day that Esther put on her royal robes and stood in the inner court of the king's palace, across from the king's house, while the king sat on his royal throne in the royal house, facing the entrance of the house. 5:2 So it was, when the king saw Queen Esther standing in the court, that she found favor in his sight, and the king held out to Esther the golden scepter that was in his hand. Then Esther went near and touched the top of the scepter. 5:3 And the king said to her, "What do you wish, Queen Esther? What is your request? It shall be given to you-up to half the kingdom!" 5:4 So Esther answered, "If it pleases the king, let the king and Haman come today to the banquet that I have prepared for him." 5:5 Then the king said, "Bring Haman quickly, that he may do as Esther has said." So the king and Haman went to the banquet that Esther had prepared. 5:6 At the banquet of wine the king said to Esther, "What is your petition? It shall be granted you. What is your request, up to half the kingdom? It shall be done!" 5:7 Then Esther answered and said, "My petition and request is this: 5:8 "If I have found favor in the sight of the king, and if it pleases the king to grant my petition and fulfill my request, then let the king and Haman come to the banquet which I will prepare for them, and tomorrow I will do as the king has said." 5:9 So Haman went out that day joyful and with a glad heart; but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king's gate, and that he did not stand or tremble before him, he was filled with indignation against Mordecai. 5:10 Nevertheless Haman restrained himself and went home, and he sent and called for his friends and his wife Zeresh. 5:11 Then Haman told them of his great riches, the multitude of his children, everything in which the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the officials and servants of the king. 5:12 Moreover Haman said, "Besides, Queen Esther invited no one but me to come in with the king to the banquet that she prepared; and tomorrow I am again invited by her, along with the king. 5:13 "Yet all this avails me nothing, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king's gate." 5:14 Then his wife Zeresh and all his friends said to him, "Let a gallows be made, fifty cubits high, and in the morning suggest to the king that Mordecai be hanged on it; then go merrily with the king to the banquet." And the thing pleased Haman; so he had the gallows made.
12:1 そのころ、ヘロデ王は教会のある人々に迫害の手を伸ばし、 12:2 ヨハネの兄弟ヤコブを剣で殺した。 12:3 そして、それがユダヤ人に喜ばれるのを見て、更にペトロをも捕らえようとした。それは、除酵祭の時期であった。 12:4 ヘロデはペトロを捕らえて牢に入れ、四人一組の兵士四組に引き渡して監視させた。過越祭の後で民衆の前に引き出すつもりであった。 12:5 こうして、ペトロは牢に入れられていた。教会では彼のために熱心な祈りが神にささげられていた。
12:6 ヘロデがペトロを引き出そうとしていた日の前夜、ペトロは二本の鎖でつながれ、二人の兵士の間で眠っていた。番兵たちは戸口で牢を見張っていた。 12:7 すると、主の天使がそばに立ち、光が牢の中を照らした。天使はペトロのわき腹をつついて起こし、「急いで起き上がりなさい」と言った。すると、鎖が彼の手から外れ落ちた。 12:8 天使が、「帯を締め、履物を履きなさい」と言ったので、ペトロはそのとおりにした。また天使は、「上着を着て、ついて来なさい」と言った。 12:9 それで、ペトロは外に出てついて行ったが、天使のしていることが現実のこととは思われなかった。幻を見ているのだと思った。 12:10 第一、第二の衛兵所を過ぎ、町に通じる鉄の門の所まで来ると、門がひとりでに開いたので、そこを出て、ある通りを進んで行くと、急に天使は離れ去った。 12:11 ペトロは我に返って言った。「今、初めて本当のことが分かった。主が天使を遣わして、ヘロデの手から、またユダヤ民衆のあらゆるもくろみから、わたしを救い出してくださったのだ。」
[ 12 ] 12:1 Now about that time Herod the king stretched out his hand to harass some from the church. 12:2 Then he killed James the brother of John with the sword. 12:3 And because he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to seize Peter also. Now it was during the Days of Unleavened Bread. 12:4 So when he had arrested him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four squads of soldiers to keep him, intending to bring him before the people after Passover. 12:5 Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church. 12:6 And when Herod was about to bring him out, that night Peter was sleeping, bound with two chains between two soldiers; and the guards before the door were keeping the prison. 12:7 Now behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone in the prison; and he struck Peter on the side and raised him up, saying, "Arise quickly!" And his chains fell off his hands. 12:8 Then the angel said to him, "Gird yourself and tie on your sandals"; and so he did. And he said to him, "Put on your garment and follow me." 12:9 So he went out and followed him, and did not know that what was done by the angel was real, but thought he was seeing a vision. 12:10 When they were past the first and the second guard posts, they came to the iron gate that leads to the city, which opened to them of its own accord; and they went out and went down one street, and immediately the angel departed from him. 12:11 And when Peter had come to himself, he said, "Now I know for certain that the Lord has sent His angel, and has delivered me from the hand of Herod and from all the expectation of the Jewish people."
