6:1 その夜、王は眠れないので、宮廷日誌を持って来させ、読み上げさせた。 6:2 そこには、王の私室の番人である二人の宦官、ビグタンとテレシュが王を倒そうと謀り、これをモルデカイが知らせたという記録があった。 6:3 そこで王は言った。「このために、どのような栄誉と称賛をモルデカイは受けたのか。」そばに仕える侍従たちは答えた。「何も受けませんでした。」 6:4 王は言った。「庭に誰がいるのか。」ハマンが王宮の外庭に来ていた。準備した柱にモルデカイをつるすことを、王に進言するためである。 6:5 侍従たちが、「ハマンが庭に来ています」と言うと、王は、「ここへ通せ」と言った。 6:6 ハマンが進み出ると、王は、「王が栄誉を与えることを望む者には、何をすればよいのだろうか」と尋ねた。ハマンは、王が栄誉を与えることを望む者は自分以外にあるまいと心に思ったので、 6:7 王にこう言った。「王が栄誉を与えることをお望みでしたら、 6:8 王のお召しになる服を持って来させ、お乗りになる馬、頭に王冠を着けた馬を引いて来させるとよいでしょう。 6:9 それを貴族で、王の高官である者にゆだね、栄誉を与えることをお望みになる人にその服を着けさせ、都の広場でその人を馬に乗せ、その前で、『王が栄誉を与えることを望む者には、このようなことがなされる』と、触れさせられてはいかがでしょうか。」 6:10 王はそこでハマンに言った。「それでは早速、わたしの着物と馬を取り、王宮の門に座っているユダヤ人モルデカイに、お前が今言ったとおりにしなさい。お前が今言ったことは何一つおろそかにしてはならない。」 6:11 ハマンは王の服と馬を受け取り、その服をモルデカイに着せ、都の広場で彼を王の馬に乗せ、その前で、「王が栄誉を与えることを望む者には、このようなことがなされる」と、触れ回った。 6:12 モルデカイは王宮の門に戻ったが、ハマンは悲しく頭を覆いながら家路を急いだ。 6:13 彼は一部始終を妻ゼレシュと親しい友達とに話した。そのうちの知恵ある者もゼレシュも彼に言った。「モルデカイはユダヤ人の血筋の者で、その前で落ち目になりだしたら、あなたにはもう勝ち目はなく、あなたはその前でただ落ちぶれるだけです。」 6:14 彼らがこう言っているところへ、王の宦官たちがやって来て、エステルの催す酒宴に出るよう、ハマンをせきたてた。
[ 6 ] 6:1 That night the king could not sleep. So one was commanded to bring the book of the records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king. 6:2 And it was found written that Mordecai had told of Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king's eunuchs, the doorkeepers who had sought to lay hands on King Ahasuerus. 6:3 Then the king said, "What honor or dignity has been bestowed on Mordecai for this?" And the king's servants who attended him said, "Nothing has been done for him." 6:4 So the king said, "Who is in the court?" Now Haman had just entered the outer court of the king's palace to suggest that the king hang Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him. 6:5 The king's servants said to him, "Haman is there, standing in the court." And the king said, "Let him come in." 6:6 So Haman came in, and the king asked him, "What shall be done for the man whom the king delights to honor?" Now Haman thought in his heart, "Whom would the king delight to honor more than me?" 6:7 And Haman answered the king, "For the man whom the king delights to honor, 6:8 "let a royal robe be brought which the king has worn, and a horse on which the king has ridden, which has a royal crest placed on its head. 6:9 "Then let this robe and horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king's most noble princes, that he may array the man whom the king delights to honor. Then parade him on horseback through the city square, and proclaim before him: 'Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor!' " 6:10 Then the king said to Haman, "Hurry, take the robe and the horse, as you have suggested, and do so for Mordecai the Jew who sits within the king's gate! Leave nothing undone of all that you have spoken." 6:11 So Haman took the robe and the horse, arrayed Mordecai and led him on horseback through the city square, and proclaimed before him, "Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor!" 6:12 Afterward Mordecai went back to the king's gate. But Haman hurried to his house, mourning and with his head covered. 6:13 When Haman told his wife Zeresh and all his friends everything that had happened to him, his wise men and his wife Zeresh said to him, "If Mordecai, before whom you have begun to fall, is of Jewish descent, you will not prevail against him but will surely fall before him." 6:14 While they were still talking with him, the king's eunuchs came, and hastened to bring Haman to the banquet which Esther had prepared.
12:12 こう分かるとペトロは、マルコと呼ばれていたヨハネの母マリアの家に行った。そこには、大勢の人が集まって祈っていた。 12:13 門の戸をたたくと、ロデという女中が取り次ぎに出て来た。 12:14 ペトロの声だと分かると、喜びのあまり門を開けもしないで家に駆け込み、ペトロが門の前に立っていると告げた。 12:15 人々は、「あなたは気が変になっているのだ」と言ったが、ロデは、本当だと言い張った。彼らは、「それはペトロを守る天使だろう」と言い出した。 12:16 しかし、ペトロは戸をたたき続けた。彼らが開けてみると、そこにペトロがいたので非常に驚いた。 12:17 ペトロは手で制して彼らを静かにさせ、主が牢から連れ出してくださった次第を説明し、「このことをヤコブと兄弟たちに伝えなさい」と言った。そして、そこを出てほかの所へ行った。 12:18 夜が明けると、兵士たちの間で、ペトロはいったいどうなったのだろうと、大騒ぎになった。 12:19 ヘロデはペトロを捜しても見つからないので、番兵たちを取り調べたうえで死刑にするように命じ、ユダヤからカイサリアに下って、そこに滞在していた。
12:20 ヘロデ王は、ティルスとシドンの住民にひどく腹を立てていた。そこで、住民たちはそろって王を訪ね、その侍従ブラストに取り入って和解を願い出た。彼らの地方が、王の国から食糧を得ていたからである。 12:21 定められた日に、ヘロデが王の服を着けて座に着き、演説をすると、 12:22 集まった人々は、「神の声だ。人間の声ではない」と叫び続けた。 12:23 するとたちまち、主の天使がヘロデを撃ち倒した。神に栄光を帰さなかったからである。ヘロデは、蛆に食い荒らされて息絶えた。 12:24 神の言葉はますます栄え、広がって行った。 12:25 バルナバとサウロはエルサレムのための任務を果たし、マルコと呼ばれるヨハネを連れて帰って行った。
12:12 So, when he had considered this, he came to the house of Mary, the mother of John whose surname was Mark, where many were gathered together praying. 12:13 And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a girl named Rhoda came to answer. 12:14 When she recognized Peter's voice, because of her gladness she did not open the gate, but ran in and announced that Peter stood before the gate. 12:15 But they said to her, "You are beside yourself!" Yet she kept insisting that it was so. So they said, "It is his angel." 12:16 Now Peter continued knocking; and when they opened the door and saw him, they were astonished. 12:17 But motioning to them with his hand to keep silent, he declared to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, "Go, tell these things to James and to the brethren." And he departed and went to another place. 12:18 Then, as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers about what had become of Peter. 12:19 But when Herod had searched for him and not found him, he examined the guards and commanded that they should be put to death. And he went down from Judea to Caesarea, and stayed there. 12:20 Now Herod had been very angry with the people of Tyre and Sidon; but they came to him with one accord, and having made Blastus the king's personal aide their friend, they asked for peace, because their country was supplied with food by the king's country. 12:21 So on a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat on his throne and gave an oration to them. 12:22 And the people kept shouting, "The voice of a god and not of a man!" 12:23 Then immediately an angel of the Lord struck him, because he did not give glory to God. And he was eaten by worms and died. 12:24 But the word of God grew and multiplied. 12:25 And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem when they had fulfilled their ministry, and they also took with them John whose surname was Mark.
