5:6 ユーフラテス西方の長官タテナイとシェタル・ボゼナイおよびその仲間であるユーフラテス西方の巡察官たちがダレイオス王に送った手紙の写し、 5:7 すなわち彼らが王に送った報告書にはこのように書かれていた。「ダレイオス王へ、大いなる平和をお祈り申し上げます。 5:8 早速王に知っていただきたいことがございます。わたしどもがユダの州に赴き、大いなる神の神殿に来てみますと、それは切り石で建てられ、壁には板が張られ、工事は熱心に進められ、彼らの手によって完成は間近に迫っておりました。 5:9 わたしどもはそこでその長老たちに、『この神殿を建て、その飾りつけを仕上げよ、と誰がお前たちに命令したのか』と尋ねました。 5:10 また御報告申し上げるために彼らの名前を尋ね、その責任者たちの名前を書き留めておきました。 5:11 彼らはこのような返事をいたしました。『我々は、天地の神に仕える僕であって、今から何年も前に建てられた神殿を再建しているところである。かつてイスラエルの偉大な王が神殿を建て、完成したが、 5:12 我々の先祖たちが天にいます神を怒らせたので、神は彼らをバビロンの王、カルデア人ネブカドネツァルの手に渡され、王はこの神殿を破壊し、民を捕囚としてバビロンに連れ去ったのであった。 5:13 しかし、バビロンの王キュロスはその治世の第一年に、この神殿の再建をお命じになった。 5:14 また、ネブカドネツァルがエルサレムの神殿から取り出して、バビロンの神殿に持ち帰った金銀の祭具を、キュロス王はこのバビロンの神殿から取り出し、長官に任命したシェシュバツァルという名の人に託し、 5:15 これらの祭具を携えてエルサレムの神殿に行き、そこに納め、神殿をかつてあった所に再建せよ、と言われた。 5:16 そこで、そのシェシュバツァルはエルサレムに来て、その神殿の基礎を据えた。そのときから今に至るまで建築は続いており、まだ完成していないのである。』 5:17 従って、もし王のお心に適いますなら、エルサレムにあるこの神殿を建てよとの命令が、キュロス王によって出されたことがあるのかどうか、バビロンにある王宮の記録保管所をお調べいただきたいのです。また、この件に関する王様の御裁定もいただければ有り難く存じます。」
[ 5 ] 5:1 Then the prophet Haggai and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophets, prophesied to the Jews who were in Judah and Jerusalem, in the name of the God of Israel, who was over them. 5:2 So Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Jeshua the son of Jozadak rose up and began to build the house of God which is in Jerusalem; and the prophets of God were with them, helping them. 5:3 At the same time Tattenai the governor of the region beyond the River and Shethar-Boznai and their companions came to them and spoke thus to them: "Who has commanded you to build this temple and finish this wall?" 5:4 Then, accordingly, we told them the names of the men who were constructing this building. 5:5 But the eye of their God was upon the elders of the Jews, so that they could not make them cease till a report could go to Darius. Then a written answer was returned concerning this matter. 5:6 This is a copy of the letter that Tattenai sent: The governor of the region beyond the River, and Shethar-Boznai, and his companions, the Persians who were in the region beyond the River, to Darius the king. 5:7 They sent a letter to him, in which was written thus-To Darius the king: All peace. 5:8 Let it be known to the king that we went into the province of Judea, to the temple of the great God, which is being built with heavy stones, and timber is being laid in the walls; and this work goes on diligently and prospers in their hands. 5:9 Then we asked those elders, and spoke thus to them: "Who commanded you to build this temple and to finish these walls?" 5:10 We also asked them their names to inform you, that we might write the names of the men who were chief among them. 5:11 And thus they returned us an answer, saying: "We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and we are rebuilding the temple that was built many years ago, which a great king of Israel built and completed. 5:12 "But because our fathers provoked the God of heaven to wrath, He gave them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, the Chaldean, who destroyed this temple and carried the people away to Babylon. 5:13 "However, in the first year of Cyrus king of Babylon, King Cyrus issued a decree to build this house of God. 5:14 "Also, the gold and silver articles of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar had taken from the temple that was in Jerusalem and carried into the temple of Babylon-those King Cyrus took from the temple of Babylon, and they were given to one named Sheshbazzar, whom he had made governor. 5:15 "And he said to him, 'Take these articles; go, carry them to the temple site that is in Jerusalem, and let the house of God be rebuilt on its former site.' 5:16 "Then the same Sheshbazzar came and laid the foundation of the house of God which is in Jerusalem; but from that time even until now it has been under construction, and it is not finished." 5:17 Now therefore, if it seems good to the king, let a search be made in the king's treasure house, which is there in Babylon, whether it is so that a decree was issued by King Cyrus to build this house of God at Jerusalem, and let the king send us his pleasure concerning this matter.
2:37 人々はこれを聞いて大いに心を打たれ、ペトロとほかの使徒たちに、「兄弟たち、わたしたちはどうしたらよいのですか」と言った。 2:38 すると、ペトロは彼らに言った。「悔い改めなさい。めいめい、イエス・キリストの名によって洗礼を受け、罪を赦していただきなさい。そうすれば、賜物として聖霊を受けます。 2:39 この約束は、あなたがたにも、あなたがたの子供にも、遠くにいるすべての人にも、つまり、わたしたちの神である主が招いてくださる者ならだれにでも、与えられているものなのです。」 2:40 ペトロは、このほかにもいろいろ話をして、力強く証しをし、「邪悪なこの時代から救われなさい」と勧めていた。 2:41 ペトロの言葉を受け入れた人々は洗礼を受け、その日に三千人ほどが仲間に加わった。 2:42 彼らは、使徒の教え、相互の交わり、パンを裂くこと、祈ることに熱心であった。
2:43 すべての人に恐れが生じた。使徒たちによって多くの不思議な業としるしが行われていたのである。 2:44 信者たちは皆一つになって、すべての物を共有にし、 2:45 財産や持ち物を売り、おのおのの必要に応じて、皆がそれを分け合った。 2:46 そして、毎日ひたすら心を一つにして神殿に参り、家ごとに集まってパンを裂き、喜びと真心をもって一緒に食事をし、 2:47 神を賛美していたので、民衆全体から好意を寄せられた。こうして、主は救われる人々を日々仲間に加え一つにされたのである。
2:37 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?" 2:38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 2:39 "For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call." 2:40 And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, "Be saved from this perverse generation." 2:41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. 2:42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. 2:43 Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. 2:44 Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, 2:45 and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need. 2:46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, 2:47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.
