8:21 わたしはアハワ川のほとりで断食を呼びかけ、神の前に身をかがめ、わたしたちのため、幼い子らのため、また持ち物のために旅の無事を祈ることにした。 8:22 わたしは旅の間敵から守ってもらうために、歩兵や騎兵を王に求めることを恥とした。「わたしたちの神を尋ね求める者には、恵み溢れるその御手が差し伸べられ、神を見捨てる者には必ず激しい怒りが下ります」と王に言っていたからである。 8:23 そのためにわたしたちは断食してわたしたちの神に祈り、祈りは聞き入れられた。

8:31 わたしたちは第一の月の十二日に、エルサレムに向かってアハワ川を出発した。道中待ち伏せる敵の攻撃も、神の御手に守られて、免れることができた。 8:32 エルサレムに到着し、そこで三日間休息を取った。 8:33 四日目に、わたしたちの神の神殿で金銀、祭具が量られ、ウリヤの子、祭司メレモトの手に渡された。ピネハスの子エルアザルがそれに立ち合い、レビ人のイエシュアの子ヨザバドとビヌイの子ノアドヤもそばにいた。 8:34 数にも量にも間違いはなかった。数量はすべてそのとき記録された。 8:35 捕らわれの地から帰って来た捕囚の子らは、イスラエルの神に焼き尽くす献げ物をささげた。雄牛十二頭を全イスラエルのために、また雄羊九十六匹、小羊七十七匹、贖罪のための雄山羊十二匹をささげた。これらはすべて主への焼き尽くす献げ物とした。 8:36 彼らが王の命令書を地方総督とユーフラテス西方の長官たちに渡したので、イスラエルの民と神殿は彼らの支援を受けた。
[ 8 ] 8:1 These are the heads of their fathers' houses, and this is the genealogy of those who went up with me from Babylon, in the reign of King Artaxerxes: 8:2 of the sons of Phinehas, Gershom; of the sons of Ithamar, Daniel; of the sons of David, Hattush; 8:3 of the sons of Shecaniah, of the sons of Parosh, Zechariah; and registered with him were one hundred and fifty males; 8:4 of the sons of Pahath-Moab, Eliehoenai the son of Zerahiah, and with him two hundred males; 8:5 of the sons of Shechaniah, Ben-Jahaziel, and with him three hundred males; 8:6 of the sons of Adin, Ebed the son of Jonathan, and with him fifty males; 8:7 of the sons of Elam, Jeshaiah the son of Athaliah, and with him seventy males; 8:8 of the sons of Shephatiah, Zebadiah the son of Michael, and with him eighty males; 8:9 of the sons of Joab, Obadiah the son of Jehiel, and with him two hundred and eighteen males; 8:10 of the sons of Shelomith, Ben-Josiphiah, and with him one hundred and sixty males; 8:11 of the sons of Bebai, Zechariah the son of Bebai, and with him twenty-eight males; 8:12 of the sons of Azgad, Johanan the son of Hakkatan, and with him one hundred and ten males; 8:13 of the last sons of Adonikam, whose names are these-Eliphelet, Jeiel, and Shemaiah-and with them sixty males; 8:14 also of the sons of Bigvai, Uthai and Zabbud, and with them seventy males. 8:15 Now I gathered them by the river that flows to Ahava, and we camped there three days. And I looked among the people and the priests, and found none of the sons of Levi there. 8:16 Then I sent for Eliezer, Ariel, Shemaiah, Elnathan, Jarib, Elnathan, Nathan, Zechariah, and Meshullam, leaders; also for Joiarib and Elnathan, men of understanding. 8:17 And I gave them a command for Iddo the chief man at the place Casiphia, and I told them what they should say to Iddo and his brethren the Nethinim at the place Casiphia-that they should bring us servants for the house of our God. 8:18 Then, by the good hand of our God upon us, they brought us a man of understanding, of the sons of Mahli the son of Levi, the son of Israel, namely Sherebiah, with his sons and brothers, eighteen men; 8:19 and Hashabiah, and with him Jeshaiah of the sons of Merari, his brothers and their sons, twenty men; 8:20 also of the Nethinim, whom David and the leaders had appointed for the service of the Levites, two hundred and twenty Nethinim. All of them were designated by name. 8:21 Then I proclaimed a fast there at the river of Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek from Him the right way for us and our little ones and all our possessions. 8:22 For I was ashamed to request of the king an escort of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy on the road, because we had spoken to the king, saying, "The hand of our God is upon all those for good who seek Him, but His power and His wrath are against all those who forsake Him." 8:23 So we fasted and entreated our God for this, and He answered our prayer. 8:24 And I separated twelve of the leaders of the priests-Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and ten of their brethren with them- 8:25 and weighed out to them the silver, the gold, and the articles, the offering for the house of our God which the king and his counselors and his princes, and all Israel who were present, had offered. 8:26 I weighed into their hand six hundred and fifty talents of silver, silver articles weighing one hundred talents, one hundred talents of gold, 8:27 twenty gold basins worth a thousand drachmas, and two vessels of fine polished bronze, precious as gold. 8:28 And I said to them, "You are holy to the Lord; the articles are holy also; and the silver and the gold are a freewill offering to the Lord God of your fathers. 8:29 "Watch and keep them until you weigh them before the leaders of the priests and the Levites and heads of the fathers' houses of Israel in Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of the Lord." 8:30 So the priests and the Levites received the silver and the gold and the articles by weight, to bring them to Jerusalem to the house of our God. 8:31 Then we departed from the river of Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go to Jerusalem. And the hand of our God was upon us, and He delivered us from the hand of the enemy and from ambush along the road. 8:32 So we came to Jerusalem, and stayed there three days. 8:33 Now on the fourth day the silver and the gold and the articles were weighed in the house of our God by the hand of Meremoth the son of Uriah the priest, and with him was Eleazar the son of Phinehas; with them were the Levites, Jozabad the son of Jeshua and Noadiah the son of Binnui, 8:34 with the number and weight of everything. All the weight was written down at that time. 8:35 The children of those who had been carried away captive, who had come from the captivity, offered burnt offerings to the God of Israel: twelve bulls for all Israel, ninety-six rams, seventy-seven lambs, and twelve male goats as a sin offering. All this was a burnt offering to the Lord. 8:36 And they delivered the king's orders to the king's satraps and the governors in the region beyond the River. So they gave support to the people and the house of God.
4:1 ペトロとヨハネが民衆に話をしていると、祭司たち、神殿守衛長、サドカイ派の人々が近づいて来た。 4:2 二人が民衆に教え、イエスに起こった死者の中からの復活を宣べ伝えているので、彼らはいらだち、 4:3 二人を捕らえて翌日まで牢に入れた。既に日暮れだったからである。 4:4 しかし、二人の語った言葉を聞いて信じた人は多く、男の数が五千人ほどになった。 4:5 次の日、議員、長老、律法学者たちがエルサレムに集まった。 4:6 大祭司アンナスとカイアファとヨハネとアレクサンドロと大祭司一族が集まった。 4:7 そして、使徒たちを真ん中に立たせて、「お前たちは何の権威によって、だれの名によってああいうことをしたのか」と尋問した。 4:8 そのとき、ペトロは聖霊に満たされて言った。「民の議員、また長老の方々、 4:9 今日わたしたちが取り調べを受けているのは、病人に対する善い行いと、その人が何によっていやされたかということについてであるならば、 4:10 あなたがたもイスラエルの民全体も知っていただきたい。この人が良くなって、皆さんの前に立っているのは、あなたがたが十字架につけて殺し、神が死者の中から復活させられたあのナザレの人、イエス・キリストの名によるものです。 4:11 この方こそ、／『あなたがた家を建てる者に捨てられたが、／隅の親石となった石』／です。 4:12 ほかのだれによっても、救いは得られません。わたしたちが救われるべき名は、天下にこの名のほか、人間には与えられていないのです。」 4:13 議員や他の者たちは、ペトロとヨハネの大胆な態度を見、しかも二人が無学な普通の人であることを知って驚き、また、イエスと一緒にいた者であるということも分かった。 4:14 しかし、足をいやしていただいた人がそばに立っているのを見ては、ひと言も言い返せなかった。 4:15 そこで、二人に議場を去るように命じてから、相談して、 4:16 言った。「あの者たちをどうしたらよいだろう。彼らが行った目覚ましいしるしは、エルサレムに住むすべての人に知れ渡っており、それを否定することはできない。 4:17 しかし、このことがこれ以上民衆の間に広まらないように、今後あの名によってだれにも話すなと脅しておこう。」 4:18 そして、二人を呼び戻し、決してイエスの名によって話したり、教えたりしないようにと命令した。 4:19 しかし、ペトロとヨハネは答えた。「神に従わないであなたがたに従うことが、神の前に正しいかどうか、考えてください。 4:20 わたしたちは、見たことや聞いたことを話さないではいられないのです。」 4:21 議員や他の者たちは、二人を更に脅してから釈放した。皆の者がこの出来事について神を賛美していたので、民衆を恐れて、どう処罰してよいか分からなかったからである。 4:22 このしるしによっていやしていただいた人は、四十歳を過ぎていた。
[ 4 ] 4:1 Now as they spoke to the people, the priests, the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees came upon them, 4:2 being greatly disturbed that they taught the people and preached in Jesus the resurrection from the dead. 4:3 And they laid hands on them, and put them in custody until the next day, for it was already evening. 4:4 However, many of those who heard the word believed; and the number of the men came to be about five thousand. 4:5 And it came to pass, on the next day, that their rulers, elders, and scribes, 4:6 as well as Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the family of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem. 4:7 And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, "By what power or by what name have you done this?" 4:8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, "Rulers of the people and elders of Israel: 4:9 "If we this day are judged for a good deed done to a helpless man, by what means he has been made well, 4:10 "let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. 4:11 "This is the 'stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.' 4:12 "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." 4:13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus. 4:14 And seeing the man who had been healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it. 4:15 But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves, 4:16 saying, "What shall we do to these men? For, indeed, that a notable miracle has been done through them is evident to all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it. 4:17 "But so that it spreads no further among the people, let us severely threaten them, that from now on they speak to no man in this name." 4:18 And they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. 4:19 But Peter and John answered and said to them, "Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. 4:20 "For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard." 4:21 So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way of punishing them, because of the people, since they all glorified God for what had been done. 4:22 For the man was over forty years old on whom this miracle of healing had been performed.
