16:1 アブラムの妻サライには、子供が生まれなかった。彼女には、ハガルというエジプト人の女奴隷がいた。 16:2 サライはアブラムに言った。「主はわたしに子供を授けてくださいません。どうぞ、わたしの女奴隷のところに入ってください。わたしは彼女によって、子供を与えられるかもしれません。」アブラムは、サライの願いを聞き入れた。 16:3 アブラムの妻サライは、エジプト人の女奴隷ハガルを連れて来て、夫アブラムの側女とした。アブラムがカナン地方に住んでから、十年後のことであった。 16:4 アブラムはハガルのところに入り、彼女は身ごもった。ところが、自分が身ごもったのを知ると、彼女は女主人を軽んじた。 16:5 サライはアブラムに言った。「わたしが不当な目に遭ったのは、あなたのせいです。女奴隷をあなたのふところに与えたのはわたしなのに、彼女は自分が身ごもったのを知ると、わたしを軽んじるようになりました。主がわたしとあなたとの間を裁かれますように。」 16:6 アブラムはサライに答えた。「あなたの女奴隷はあなたのものだ。好きなようにするがいい。」サライは彼女につらく当たったので、彼女はサライのもとから逃げた。 16:7 主の御使いが荒れ野の泉のほとり、シュル街道に沿う泉のほとりで彼女と出会って、 16:8 言った。「サライの女奴隷ハガルよ。あなたはどこから来て、どこへ行こうとしているのか。」「女主人サライのもとから逃げているところです」と答えると、 16:9 主の御使いは言った。「女主人のもとに帰り、従順に仕えなさい。」 16:10 主の御使いは更に言った。「わたしは、あなたの子孫を数えきれないほど多く増やす。」 16:11 主の御使いはまた言った。「今、あなたは身ごもっている。やがてあなたは男の子を産む。その子をイシュマエルと名付けなさい／主があなたの悩みをお聞きになられたから。 16:12 彼は野生のろばのような人になる。彼があらゆる人にこぶしを振りかざすので／人々は皆、彼にこぶしを振るう。彼は兄弟すべてに敵対して暮らす。」 16:13 ハガルは自分に語りかけた主の御名を呼んで、「あなたこそエル・ロイ（わたしを顧みられる神）です」と言った。それは、彼女が、「神がわたしを顧みられた後もなお、わたしはここで見続けていたではないか」と言ったからである。 16:14 そこで、その井戸は、ベエル・ラハイ・ロイと呼ばれるようになった。それはカデシュとベレドの間にある。 16:15 ハガルはアブラムとの間に男の子を産んだ。アブラムは、ハガルが産んだ男の子をイシュマエルと名付けた。 16:16 ハガルがイシュマエルを産んだとき、アブラムは八十六歳であった。
16:1 Now Sarai, Abram's wife, had borne him no children. And she had an Egyptian maidservant whose name was Hagar. 16:2 So Sarai said to Abram, "See now, the Lord has restrained me from bearing children. Please, go in to my maid; perhaps I shall obtain children by her." And Abram heeded the voice of Sarai. 16:3 Then Sarai, Abram's wife, took Hagar her maid, the Egyptian, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his wife, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan. 16:4 So he went in to Hagar, and she conceived. And when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress became despised in her eyes. 16:5 Then Sarai said to Abram, "My wrong be upon you! I gave my maid into your embrace; and when she saw that she had conceived, I became despised in her eyes. The Lord judge between you and me." 16:6 So Abram said to Sarai, "Indeed your maid is in your hand; do to her as you please." And when Sarai dealt harshly with her, she fled from her presence. 16:7 Now the Angel of the Lord found her by a spring of water in the wilderness, by the spring on the way to Shur. 16:8 And He said, "Hagar, Sarai's maid, where have you come from, and where are you going?" She said, "I am fleeing from the presence of my mistress Sarai." 16:9 The Angel of the Lord said to her, "Return to your mistress, and submit yourself under her hand." 16:10 Then the Angel of the Lord said to her, "I will multiply your descendants exceedingly, so that they shall not be counted for multitude." 16:11 And the Angel of the Lord said to her:"Behold, you are with child,And you shall bear a son.You shall call his name Ishmael,Because the Lord has heard your affliction. 16:12 He shall be a wild man;His hand shall be against every man,And every man's hand against him.And he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren." 16:13 Then she called the name of the Lord who spoke to her, You-Are-the-God-Who-Sees; for she said, "Have I also here seen Him who sees me?" 16:14 Therefore the well was called Beer Lahai Roi; observe, it is between Kadesh and Bered. 16:15 So Hagar bore Abram a son; and Abram named his son, whom Hagar bore, Ishmael. 16:16 Abram was eighty-six years old when Hagar bore Ishmael to Abram.
14:1 【指揮者によって。ダビデの詩。】神を知らぬ者は心に言う／「神などない」と。人々は腐敗している。忌むべき行いをする。善を行う者はいない。 14:2 主は天から人の子らを見渡し、探される／目覚めた人、神を求める人はいないか、と。 14:3 だれもかれも背き去った。皆ともに、汚れている。善を行う者はいない。ひとりもいない。 14:4 悪を行う者は知っているはずではないか。パンを食らうかのようにわたしの民を食らい／主を呼び求めることをしない者よ。 14:5 そのゆえにこそ、大いに恐れるがよい。神は従う人々の群れにいます。 14:6 貧しい人の計らいをお前たちが挫折させても／主は必ず、避けどころとなってくださる。 14:7 どうか、イスラエルの救いが／シオンから起こるように。主が御自分の民、捕われ人を連れ帰られるとき／ヤコブは喜び躍り／イスラエルは喜び祝うであろう。
14:1 The fool has said in his heart,"There is no God."They are corrupt,They have done abominable works,There is none who does good. 14:2 The Lord looks down from heaven upon the children of men,To see if there are any who understand, who seek God. 14:3 They have all turned aside,They have together become corrupt;There is none who does good,No, not one. 14:4 Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge,Who eat up my people as they eat bread,And do not call on the Lord? 14:5 There they are in great fear,For God is with the generation of the righteous. 14:6 You shame the counsel of the poor,But the Lord is his refuge. 14:7 Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion!When the Lord brings back the captivity of His people,Let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad.
