28:1 イサクはヤコブを呼び寄せて祝福して、命じた。「お前はカナンの娘の中から妻を迎えてはいけない。 28:2 ここをたって、パダン・アラムのベトエルおじいさんの家に行き、そこでラバン伯父さんの娘の中から結婚相手を見つけなさい。 28:3 どうか、全能の神がお前を祝福して繁栄させ、お前を増やして多くの民の群れとしてくださるように。 28:4 どうか、アブラハムの祝福がお前とその子孫に及び、神がアブラハムに与えられた土地、お前が寄留しているこの土地を受け継ぐことができるように。」 28:5 ヤコブはイサクに送り出されて、パダン・アラムのラバンの所へ旅立った。ラバンはアラム人ベトエルの息子で、ヤコブとエサウの母リベカの兄であった。
28:6 エサウは、イサクがヤコブを祝福し、パダン・アラムへ送り出し、そこから妻を迎えさせようとしたこと、しかも彼を祝福したとき、「カナンの娘の中から妻を迎えてはいけない」と命じたこと、 28:7 そして、ヤコブが父と母の命令に従ってパダン・アラムへ旅立ったことなどを知った。 28:8 エサウは、カナンの娘たちが父イサクの気に入らないことを知って、 28:9 イシュマエルのところへ行き、既にいる妻のほかにもう一人、アブラハムの息子イシュマエルの娘で、ネバヨトの妹に当たるマハラトを妻とした。
28:10 ヤコブはベエル・シェバを立ってハランへ向かった。 28:11 とある場所に来たとき、日が沈んだので、そこで一夜を過ごすことにした。ヤコブはその場所にあった石を一つ取って枕にして、その場所に横たわった。 28:12 すると、彼は夢を見た。先端が天まで達する階段が地に向かって伸びており、しかも、神の御使いたちがそれを上ったり下ったりしていた。 28:13 見よ、主が傍らに立って言われた。「わたしは、あなたの父祖アブラハムの神、イサクの神、主である。あなたが今横たわっているこの土地を、あなたとあなたの子孫に与える。 28:14 あなたの子孫は大地の砂粒のように多くなり、西へ、東へ、北へ、南へと広がっていくであろう。地上の氏族はすべて、あなたとあなたの子孫によって祝福に入る。 28:15 見よ、わたしはあなたと共にいる。あなたがどこへ行っても、わたしはあなたを守り、必ずこの土地に連れ帰る。わたしは、あなたに約束したことを果たすまで決して見捨てない。」 28:16 ヤコブは眠りから覚めて言った。「まことに主がこの場所におられるのに、わたしは知らなかった。」 28:17 そして、恐れおののいて言った。「ここは、なんと畏れ多い場所だろう。これはまさしく神の家である。そうだ、ここは天の門だ。」 28:18 ヤコブは次の朝早く起きて、枕にしていた石を取り、それを記念碑として立て、先端に油を注いで、 28:19 その場所をベテル（神の家）と名付けた。ちなみに、その町の名はかつてルズと呼ばれていた。 28:20 ヤコブはまた、誓願を立てて言った。「神がわたしと共におられ、わたしが歩むこの旅路を守り、食べ物、着る物を与え、 28:21 無事に父の家に帰らせてくださり、主がわたしの神となられるなら、 28:22 わたしが記念碑として立てたこの石を神の家とし、すべて、あなたがわたしに与えられるものの十分の一をささげます。」
28:1 Then Isaac called Jacob and blessed him, and charged him, and said to him: "You shall not take a wife from the daughters of Canaan. 28:2 "Arise, go to Padan Aram, to the house of Bethuel your mother's father; and take yourself a wife from there of the daughters of Laban your mother's brother. 28:3 "May God Almighty bless you,And make you fruitful and multiply you,That you may be an assembly of peoples; 28:4 And give you the blessing of Abraham,To you and your descendants with you,That you may inherit the landIn which you are a stranger,Which God gave to Abraham." 28:5 So Isaac sent Jacob away, and he went to Padan Aram, to Laban the son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebekah, the mother of Jacob and Esau. 28:6 Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob and sent him away to Padan Aram to take himself a wife from there, and that as he blessed him he gave him a charge, saying, "You shall not take a wife from the daughters of Canaan," 28:7 and that Jacob had obeyed his father and his mother and had gone to Padan Aram. 28:8 Also Esau saw that the daughters of Canaan did not please his father Isaac. 28:9 So Esau went to Ishmael and took Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael, Abraham's son, the sister of Nebajoth, to be his wife in addition to the wives he had. 28:10 Now Jacob went out from Beersheba and went toward Haran. 28:11 So he came to a certain place and stayed there all night, because the sun had set. And he took one of the stones of that place and put it at his head, and he lay down in that place to sleep. 28:12 Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. 28:13 And behold, the Lord stood above it and said: "I am the Lord God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give to you and your descendants. 28:14 "Also your descendants shall be as the dust of the earth; you shall spread abroad to the west and the east, to the north and the south; and in you and in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed. 28:15 "Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you." 28:16 Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, "Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it." 28:17 And he was afraid and said, "How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven!" 28:18 Then Jacob rose early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put at his head, set it up as a pillar, and poured oil on top of it. 28:19 And he called the name of that place Bethel; but the name of that city had been Luz previously. 28:20 Then Jacob made a vow, saying, "If God will be with me, and keep me in this way that I am going, and give me bread to eat and clothing to put on, 28:21 "so that I come back to my father's house in peace, then the Lord shall be my God. 28:22 "And this stone which I have set as a pillar shall be God's house, and of all that You give me I will surely give a tenth to You."

26:1 Vindicate me, O Lord,For I have walked in my integrity.I have also trusted in the Lord;I shall not slip. 26:2 Examine me, O Lord, and prove me;Try my mind and my heart. 26:3 For Your lovingkindness is before my eyes,And I have walked in Your truth. 26:4 I have not sat with idolatrous mortals,Nor will I go in with hypocrites. 26:5 I have hated the assembly of evildoers,And will not sit with the wicked. 26:6 I will wash my hands in innocence;So I will go about Your altar, O Lord, 26:7 That I may proclaim with the voice of thanksgiving,And tell of all Your wondrous works. 26:8 Lord, I have loved the habitation of Your house,And the place where Your glory dwells. 26:9 Do not gather my soul with sinners,Nor my life with bloodthirsty men, 26:10 In whose hands is a sinister scheme,And whose right hand is full of bribes. 26:11 But as for me, I will walk in my integrity;Redeem me and be merciful to me. 26:12 My foot stands in an even place;In the congregations I will bless the Lord.
