33:1 ヤコブが目を上げると、エサウが四百人の者を引き連れて来るのが見えた。ヤコブは子供たちをそれぞれ、レアとラケルと二人の側女とに分け、 33:2 側女とその子供たちを前に、レアとその子供たちをその後に、ラケルとヨセフを最後に置いた。 33:3 ヤコブはそれから、先頭に進み出て、兄のもとに着くまでに七度地にひれ伏した。 33:4 エサウは走って来てヤコブを迎え、抱き締め、首を抱えて口づけし、共に泣いた。 33:5 やがて、エサウは顔を上げ、女たちや子供たちを見回して尋ねた。「一緒にいるこの人々は誰なのか。」「あなたの僕であるわたしに、神が恵んでくださった子供たちです。」ヤコブが答えると、 33:6 側女たちが子供たちと共に進み出てひれ伏し、 33:7 次に、レアが子供たちと共に進み出てひれ伏し、最後に、ヨセフとラケルが進み出てひれ伏した。 33:8 エサウは尋ねた。「今、わたしが出会ったあの多くの家畜は何のつもりか。」ヤコブが、「御主人様の好意を得るためです」と答えると、 33:9 エサウは言った。「弟よ、わたしのところには何でも十分ある。お前のものはお前が持っていなさい。」 33:10 ヤコブは言った。「いいえ。もし御好意をいただけるのであれば、どうぞ贈り物をお受け取りください。兄上のお顔は、わたしには神の御顔のように見えます。このわたしを温かく迎えてくださったのですから。 33:11 どうか、持参しました贈り物をお納めください。神がわたしに恵みをお与えになったので、わたしは何でも持っていますから。」ヤコブがしきりに勧めたので、エサウは受け取った。 33:12 それからエサウは言った。「さあ、一緒に出かけよう。わたしが先導するから。」 33:13 「御主人様。ご存じのように、子供たちはか弱く、わたしも羊や牛の子に乳を飲ませる世話をしなければなりません。群れは、一日でも無理に追い立てるとみな死んでしまいます。 33:14 どうか御主人様、僕におかまいなく先にお進みください。わたしは、ここにいる家畜や子供たちの歩みに合わせてゆっくり進み、セイルの御主人様のもとへ参りましょう。」ヤコブがこう答えたので、 33:15 エサウは言った。「では、わたしが連れている者を何人か、お前のところに残しておくことにしよう。」「いいえ。それには及びません。御好意だけで十分です」と答えたので、 33:16 エサウは、その日セイルへの道を帰って行った。 33:17 ヤコブはスコトへ行き、自分の家を建て、家畜の小屋を作った。そこで、その場所の名はスコト（小屋）と呼ばれている。 33:18 ヤコブはこうして、パダン・アラムから無事にカナン地方にあるシケムの町に着き、町のそばに宿営した。 33:19 ヤコブは、天幕を張った土地の一部を、シケムの父ハモルの息子たちから百ケシタで買い取り、 33:20 そこに祭壇を建てて、それをエル・エロヘ・イスラエルと呼んだ。
33:1 Now Jacob lifted his eyes and looked, and there, Esau was coming, and with him were four hundred men. So he divided the children among Leah, Rachel, and the two maidservants. 33:2 And he put the maidservants and their children in front, Leah and her children behind, and Rachel and Joseph last. 33:3 Then he crossed over before them and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother. 33:4 But Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck and kissed him, and they wept. 33:5 And he lifted his eyes and saw the women and children, and said, "Who are these with you?" So he said, "The children whom God has graciously given your servant." 33:6 Then the maidservants came near, they and their children, and bowed down. 33:7 And Leah also came near with her children, and they bowed down. Afterward Joseph and Rachel came near, and they bowed down. 33:8 Then Esau said, "What do you mean by all this company which I met?" And he said, "These are to find favor in the sight of my lord." 33:9 But Esau said, "I have enough, my brother; keep what you have for yourself." 33:10 And Jacob said, "No, please, if I have now found favor in your sight, then receive my present from my hand, inasmuch as I have seen your face as though I had seen the face of God, and you were pleased with me. 33:11 "Please, take my blessing that is brought to you, because God has dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough." So he urged him, and he took it. 33:12 Then Esau said, "Let us take our journey; let us go, and I will go before you." 33:13 But Jacob said to him, "My lord knows that the children are weak, and the flocks and herds which are nursing are with me. And if the men should drive them hard one day, all the flock will die. 33:14 "Please let my lord go on ahead before his servant. I will lead on slowly at a pace which the livestock that go before me, and the children, are able to endure, until I come to my lord in Seir." 33:15 And Esau said, "Now let me leave with you some of the people who are with me." But he said, "What need is there? Let me find favor in the sight of my lord." 33:16 So Esau returned that day on his way to Seir. 33:17 And Jacob journeyed to Succoth, built himself a house, and made booths for his livestock. Therefore the name of the place is called Succoth. 33:18 Then Jacob came safely to the city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came from Padan Aram; and he pitched his tent before the city. 33:19 And he bought the parcel of land, where he had pitched his tent, from the children of Hamor, Shechem's father, for one hundred pieces of money. 33:20 Then he erected an altar there and called it El Elohe Israel.
31:1 【指揮者によって。賛歌。ダビデの詩。】 31:2 主よ、御もとに身を寄せます。とこしえに恥に落とすことなく／恵みの御業によってわたしを助けてください。 31:3 あなたの耳をわたしに傾け／急いでわたしを救い出してください。砦の岩、城塞となってお救いください。 31:4 あなたはわたしの大岩、わたしの砦。御名にふさわしく、わたしを守り導き 31:5 隠された網に落ちたわたしを引き出してください。あなたはわたしの砦。 31:6 まことの神、主よ、御手にわたしの霊をゆだねます。わたしを贖ってください。 31:7 わたしは空しい偶像に頼る者を憎み／主に、信頼します。 31:8 慈しみをいただいて、わたしは喜び躍ります。あなたはわたしの苦しみを御覧になり／わたしの魂の悩みを知ってくださいました。 31:9 わたしを敵の手に渡すことなく／わたしの足を／広い所に立たせてくださいました。 31:10 主よ、憐れんでください／わたしは苦しんでいます。目も、魂も、はらわたも／苦悩のゆえに衰えていきます。 31:11 命は嘆きのうちに／年月は呻きのうちに尽きていきます。罪のゆえに力はうせ／骨は衰えていきます。 31:12 わたしの敵は皆、わたしを嘲り／隣人も、激しく嘲ります。親しい人々はわたしを見て恐れを抱き／外で会えば避けて通ります。 31:13 人の心はわたしを死者のように葬り去り／壊れた器と見なします。 31:14 ひそかな声が周囲に聞こえ／脅かすものが取り囲んでいます。人々がわたしに対して陰謀をめぐらし／命を奪おうとたくらんでいます。 31:15 主よ、わたしはなお、あなたに信頼し／「あなたこそわたしの神」と申します。 31:16 わたしにふさわしいときに、御手をもって／追い迫る者、敵の手から助け出してください。 31:17 あなたの僕に御顔の光を注ぎ／慈しみ深く、わたしをお救いください。 31:18 主よ、あなたを呼びます。わたしを恥に落とすことなく／神に逆らう者をこそ恥に落とし／陰府に落とし、黙らせてください。 31:19 偽って語る唇を封じてください／正しい人を侮り、驕り高ぶって語る唇を。 31:20 御恵みはいかに豊かなことでしょう。あなたを畏れる人のためにそれを蓄え／人の子らの目の前で／あなたに身を寄せる人に、お与えになります。 31:21 御もとに彼らをかくまって／人間の謀から守ってくださいます。仮庵の中に隠し／争いを挑む舌を免れさせてくださいます。 31:22 主をたたえよ。主は驚くべき慈しみの御業を／都が包囲されたとき、示してくださいました。 31:23 恐怖に襲われて、わたしは言いました／「御目の前から断たれた」と。それでもなお、あなたに向かうわたしの叫びを／嘆き祈るわたしの声を／あなたは聞いてくださいました。 31:24 主の慈しみに生きる人はすべて、主を愛せよ。主は信仰ある人を守り／傲慢な者には厳しく報いられる。 31:25 雄々しくあれ、心を強くせよ／主を待ち望む人はすべて。
