1:1 ダレイオス王の第二年六月一日に、主の言葉が預言者ハガイを通して、ユダの総督シェアルティエルの子ゼルバベルと大祭司ヨツァダクの子ヨシュアに臨んだ。 1:2 「万軍の主はこう言われる。この民は、『まだ、主の神殿を再建する時は来ていない』と言っている。」 1:3 主の言葉が、預言者ハガイを通して臨んだ。 1:4 「今、お前たちは、この神殿を／廃虚のままにしておきながら／自分たちは板ではった家に住んでいてよいのか。 1:5 今、万軍の主はこう言われる。お前たちは自分の歩む道に心を留めよ。 1:6 種を多く蒔いても、取り入れは少ない。食べても、満足することなく／飲んでも、酔うことがない。衣服を重ねても、温まることなく／金をかせぐ者がかせいでも／穴のあいた袋に入れるようなものだ。 1:7 万軍の主はこう言われる。お前たちは自分の歩む道に心を留めよ。 1:8 山に登り、木を切り出して、神殿を建てよ。わたしはそれを喜び、栄光を受けると／主は言われる。 1:9 お前たちは多くの収穫を期待したが／それはわずかであった。しかも、お前たちが家へ持ち帰るとき／わたしは、それを吹き飛ばした。それはなぜか、と万軍の主は言われる。それは、わたしの神殿が廃虚のままであるのに／お前たちが、それぞれ自分の家のために／走り回っているからだ。 1:10 それゆえ、お前たちの上に／天は露を降らさず／地は産物を出さなかった。 1:11 わたしが干ばつを呼び寄せたので／それは、大地と山々と穀物の上に／新しいぶどう酒とオリーブ油と／土地が産み出す物の上に／また人間と家畜と／すべて人の労苦の上に及んだのだ。」 1:12 シャルティエルの子ゼルバベルと、大祭司ヨツァダクの子ヨシュア、および民の残りの者は皆、彼らの神、主が預言者ハガイを遣わされたとき、彼の言葉を通して、彼らの神、主の御声に耳を傾けた。民は主を畏れ敬った。 1:13 主の使者ハガイは、主の派遣に従い、民に告げて言った。「わたしはあなたたちと共にいる、と主は言われる。」 1:14 主が、ユダの総督シャルティエルの子ゼルバベルと大祭司ヨツァダクの子ヨシュア、および民の残りの者すべての霊を奮い立たせられたので、彼らは出て行き、彼らの神、万軍の主の神殿を建てる作業に取りかかった。 1:15 それは六月二十四日のことであった。

1:1 In the second year of King Darius, in the sixth month, on the first day of the month, the word of the Lord came by Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying, 1:2 "Thus speaks the Lord of hosts, saying: 'This people says, "The time has not come, the time that the Lord's house should be built." ' " 1:3 Then the word of the Lord came by Haggai the prophet, saying, 1:4 "Is it time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, and this temple to lie in ruins?" 1:5 Now therefore, thus says the Lord of hosts: "Consider your ways! 1:6 "You have sown much, and bring in little;You eat, but do not have enough;You drink, but you are not filled with drink;You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm;And he who earns wages,Earns wages to put into a bag with holes." 1:7 Thus says the Lord of hosts: "Consider your ways! 1:8 "Go up to the mountains and bring wood and build the temple, that I may take pleasure in it and be glorified," says the Lord. 1:9 "You looked for much, but indeed it came to little; and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why?" says the Lord of hosts. "Because of My house that is in ruins, while every one of you runs to his own house. 1:10 "Therefore the heavens above you withhold the dew, and the earth withholds its fruit. 1:11 "For I called for a drought on the land and the mountains, on the grain and the new wine and the oil, on whatever the ground brings forth, on men and livestock, and on all the labor of your hands." 1:12 Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the Lord their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the Lord their God had sent him; and the people feared the presence of the Lord. 1:13 Then Haggai, the Lord's messenger, spoke the Lord's message to the people, saying, "I am with you, says the Lord." 1:14 So the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and worked on the house of the Lord of hosts, their God, 1:15 on the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month, in the second year of King Darius.
13:1 わたしはまた、一匹の獣が海の中から上って来るのを見た。これには十本の角と七つの頭があった。それらの角には十の王冠があり、頭には神を冒涜するさまざまの名が記されていた。 13:2 わたしが見たこの獣は、豹に似ており、足は熊の足のようで、口は獅子の口のようであった。竜はこの獣に、自分の力と王座と大きな権威とを与えた。 13:3 この獣の頭の一つが傷つけられて、死んだと思われたが、この致命的な傷も治ってしまった。そこで、全地は驚いてこの獣に服従した。 13:4 竜が自分の権威をこの獣に与えたので、人々は竜を拝んだ。人々はまた、この獣をも拝んでこう言った。「だれが、この獣と肩を並べることができようか。だれが、この獣と戦うことができようか。」 13:5 この獣にはまた、大言と冒涜の言葉を吐く口が与えられ、四十二か月の間、活動する権威が与えられた。 13:6 そこで、獣は口を開いて神を冒涜し、神の名と神の幕屋、天に住む者たちを冒涜した。 13:7 獣は聖なる者たちと戦い、これに勝つことが許され、また、あらゆる種族、民族、言葉の違う民、国民を支配する権威が与えられた。 13:8 地上に住む者で、天地創造の時から、屠られた小羊の命の書にその名が記されていない者たちは皆、この獣を拝むであろう。 13:9 耳ある者は、聞け。 13:10 捕らわれるべき者は、／捕らわれて行く。剣で殺されるべき者は、／剣で殺される。ここに、聖なる者たちの忍耐と信仰が必要である。
13:1 Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name. 13:2 Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority. 13:3 And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. 13:4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, "Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?" 13:5 And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months. 13:6 Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven. 13:7 It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation. 13:8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. 13:9 If anyone has an ear, let him hear. 13:10 He who leads into captivity shall go into captivity; he who kills with the sword must be killed with the sword.
