2:1 見よ、良い知らせを伝え／平和を告げる者の足は山の上を行く。ユダよ、お前の祭りを祝い、誓願を果たせ。二度と、よこしまな者が／お前の土地を侵すことはない。彼らはすべて滅ぼされた。 2:2 襲いかかる敵がお前に向かって上ってくる。砦を守り、道を見張れ。腰の帯を締め、力を尽くせ。 2:3 主はヤコブの誇りを回復される／イスラエルの誇りも同じように。略奪する者が彼らを略奪し／その枝を荒らしはしたが。 2:4 勇士の盾は赤く／戦士は緋色の服をまとう。戦の備えをする日に／戦車の鋼鉄は火のように輝き／槍は揺れる。 2:5 戦車は通りを狂い走り、広場を突き進む。その様は松明のように輝き／稲妻のように走る。 2:6 将軍たちは召集されるが、途上でつまずく。人々は城壁へと急ぎ、防御車を据える。 2:7 流れに面した門は開かれ、宮殿は揺れ動く。 2:8 王妃は引き出され、衣をはがれて連れ去られた。侍女たちは鳩のような声で嘆き、胸を打つ。 2:9 ニネベは、建てられたときから／水を集める池のようであった。しかし、水は流れ出して／「止まれ、止まれ」と言っても／だれも振り返らない。 2:10 「銀を奪え、金を奪え。」その財宝は限りなく／あらゆる宝物が溢れている。 2:11 破壊と荒廃と滅亡が臨み／心は挫け、膝は震え／すべての人の腰はわななき／すべての人の顔はおののきを示した。 2:12 獅子の住みかはどこにいったのか。それは若獅子の牧場だった。獅子がそこを去り／雌獅子と子獅子が残っていても／脅かすものは何もなかった。 2:13 獅子は子獅子のために獲物を引き裂き／雌獅子のために絞め殺し／洞穴を獲物で／住みかを引き裂いた肉で満たした。 2:14 見よ、わたしはお前に立ち向かうと／万軍の主は言われる。わたしはお前の戦車を焼いて煙とし／剣はお前の若獅子を餌食とする。わたしはお前の獲物をこの地から断つ。お前の使者たちの声はもう聞かれない。
2:1 He who scatters has come up before your face.Man the fort!Watch the road!Strengthen your flanks!Fortify your power mightily. 2:2 For the Lord will restore the excellence of JacobLike the excellence of Israel,For the emptiers have emptied them outAnd ruined their vine branches. 2:3 The shields of his mighty men are made red,The valiant men are in scarlet.The chariots come with flaming torchesIn the day of his preparation,And the spears are brandished. 2:4 The chariots rage in the streets,They jostle one another in the broad roads;They seem like torches,They run like lightning. 2:5 He remembers his nobles;They stumble in their walk;They make haste to her walls,And the defense is prepared. 2:6 The gates of the rivers are opened,And the palace is dissolved. 2:7 It is decreed:She shall be led away captive,She shall be brought up;And her maidservants shall lead her as with the voice of doves,Beating their breasts. 2:8 Though Nineveh of old was like a pool of water,Now they flee away."Halt! Halt!" they cry;But no one turns back. 2:9 Take spoil of silver!Take spoil of gold!There is no end of treasure,Or wealth of every desirable prize. 2:10 She is empty, desolate, and waste!The heart melts, and the knees shake;Much pain is in every side,And all their faces are drained of color. 2:11 Where is the dwelling of the lions,And the feeding place of the young lions,Where the lion walked, the lioness and lion's cub,And no one made them afraid? 2:12 The lion tore in pieces enough for his cubs,Killed for his lionesses,Filled his caves with prey,And his dens with flesh. 2:13 "Behold, I am against you," says the Lord of hosts, "I will burn your chariots in smoke, and the sword shall devour your young lions; I will cut off your prey from the earth, and the voice of your messengers shall be heard no more."
9:1 第五の天使がラッパを吹いた。すると、一つの星が天から地上へ落ちて来るのが見えた。この星に、底なしの淵に通じる穴を開く鍵が与えられ、 9:2 それが底なしの淵の穴を開くと、大きなかまどから出るような煙が穴から立ち上り、太陽も空も穴からの煙のために暗くなった。 9:3 そして、煙の中から、いなごの群れが地上へ出て来た。このいなごには、地に住むさそりが持っているような力が与えられた。 9:4 いなごは、地の草やどんな青物も、またどんな木も損なってはならないが、ただ、額に神の刻印を押されていない人には害を加えてもよい、と言い渡された。 9:5 殺してはいけないが、五か月の間、苦しめることは許されたのである。いなごが与える苦痛は、さそりが人を刺したときの苦痛のようであった。 9:6 この人々は、その期間、死にたいと思っても死ぬことができず、切に死を望んでも、死の方が逃げて行く。 9:7 さて、いなごの姿は、出陣の用意を整えた馬に似て、頭には金の冠に似たものを着け、顔は人間の顔のようであった。 9:8 また、髪は女の髪のようで、歯は獅子の歯のようであった。 9:9 また、胸には鉄の胸当てのようなものを着け、その羽の音は、多くの馬に引かれて戦場に急ぐ戦車の響きのようであった。 9:10 更に、さそりのように、尾と針があって、この尾には、五か月の間、人に害を加える力があった。 9:11 いなごは、底なしの淵の使いを王としていただいている。その名は、ヘブライ語でアバドンといい、ギリシア語の名はアポリオンという。 9:12 第一の災いが過ぎ去った。見よ、この後、更に二つの災いがやって来る。
9:1 Then the fifth angel sounded: And I saw a star fallen from heaven to the earth. To him was given the key to the bottomless pit. 9:2 And he opened the bottomless pit, and smoke arose out of the pit like the smoke of a great furnace. So the sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke of the pit. 9:3 Then out of the smoke locusts came upon the earth. And to them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. 9:4 They were commanded not to harm the grass of the earth, or any green thing, or any tree, but only those men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads. 9:5 And they were not given authority to kill them, but to torment them for five months. Their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it strikes a man. 9:6 In those days men will seek death and will not find it; they will desire to die, and death will flee from them. 9:7 The shape of the locusts was like horses prepared for battle. On their heads were crowns of something like gold, and their faces were like the faces of men. 9:8 They had hair like women's hair, and their teeth were like lions' teeth. 9:9 And they had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots with many horses running into battle. 9:10 They had tails like scorpions, and there were stings in their tails. Their power was to hurt men five months. 9:11 And they had as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, but in Greek he has the name Apollyon. 9:12 One woe is past. Behold, still two more woes are coming after these things.
