31:1 わたしは自分の目と契約を結んでいるのに／どうしておとめに目を注いだりしようか。 31:2 上から神がくださる分は何か／高きにいます全能者のお与えになるものは何か。 31:3 不正を行う者には災いを／悪を行う者には外敵をお与えになるではないか。 31:4 神はわたしの道を見張り／わたしの歩みをすべて数えておられるではないか。 31:5 わたしがむなしいものと共に歩き／この足が欺きの道を急いだことは、決してない。もしあるというなら 31:6 正義を秤として量ってもらいたい。神にわたしの潔白を知っていただきたい。 31:7 わたしの歩みが道を外れ／目の向くままに心が動いたことは、決してない。この手には、決して汚れはない。もしあるというなら 31:8 わたしの蒔いたものを他人が食べてもよい。わたしの子孫は根絶やしにされてもよい。 31:9 わたしが隣人の妻に心奪われたり／門で待ち伏せたりしたことは、決してない。もしあるというなら 31:10 わたしの妻が他人のために粉をひき／よその男に犯されてもよい。 31:11 それは恥ずべき行為であり／裁かれるべき罪なのだから 31:12 滅びの国までも焼き尽くす火が／わたしの収穫を根まで焼き尽くしてもよい。 31:13 わたしが奴隷たちの言い分を聞かず／はしための権利を拒んだことは、決してない。もしあるというなら 31:14 神が裁きに立たれるとき／わたしが何をなしえよう。神が調べられるとき何と答えられよう。 31:15 わたしを胎内に造ってくださった方が／彼らをもお造りになり／我々は同じ方によって／母の胎に置かれたのだから。 31:16 わたしが貧しい人々を失望させ／やもめが目を泣きつぶしても顧みず 31:17 食べ物を独り占めにし／みなしごを飢えさせたことは、決してない。 31:18 いや、わたしは若いころから／父となって彼らを育て／母の胎を出たときから／やもめたちを導く者であった。 31:19 着る物もなく弱り果てている人や／からだを覆う物もない貧しい人を／わたしが見過ごしにしたことは、決してない。 31:20 彼らは常にわたしの羊の毛でからだを暖めて／感謝したのだ。 31:21 わたしが裁きの座で味方の多いのをいいことにして／みなしごに手を振り上げたことは、決してない。もしあるというなら 31:22 わたしの腕は肩から抜け落ちてもよい。肘が砕けてもよい。 31:23 神の下される災いをわたしは恐れる。その怒りには堪えられない。 31:24 わたしが黄金を頼みとし／純金があれば安心だと思い 31:25 財宝の多いことを喜び／自分の力を強大だと思ったことは、決してない。 31:26 太陽の輝き、満ち欠ける月を仰いで 31:27 ひそかに心を迷わせ／口づけを投げたことは、決してない。もしあるというなら 31:28 これもまた、裁かれるべき罪である。天にいます神を否んだことになるのだから。 31:29 わたしを憎む者の不幸を喜び／彼が災いに遭うのを見て／わたしがはやしたてたことは、決してない。 31:30 呪いをかけて人の命を求めることによって／自分の口が罪を犯すのを許したことは／決してない。 31:31 わたしの天幕に住んでいた人々が／「彼が腹いっぱい肉をくれればよいのに」と言ったことは決してない。 31:32 見知らぬ人さえ野宿させたことはない。わが家の扉はいつも旅人に開かれていた。 31:33 わたしがアダムのように自分の罪を隠し／咎を胸の内に秘めていたことは、決してない。もしあるというなら 31:34 群衆の前に震え、一族の侮りにおののき／黙して門の内にこもっていただろう。 31:35 どうか、わたしの言うことを聞いてください。見よ、わたしはここに署名する。全能者よ、答えてください。わたしと争う者が書いた告訴状を 31:36 わたしはしかと肩に担い／冠のようにして頭に結び付けよう。 31:37 わたしの歩みの一歩一歩を彼に示し／君主のように彼と対決しよう。 31:38 わたしの畑がわたしに対して叫び声をあげ／その畝が泣き 31:39 わたしが金を払わずに収穫を奪って食べ／持ち主を死に至らしめたことは、決してない。もしあるというなら 31:40 小麦の代わりに茨が生え／大麦の代わりに雑草が生えてもよい。ヨブは語り尽くした。
31:1 "I have made a covenant with my eyes;Why then should I look upon a young woman? 31:2 For what is the allotment of God from above,And the inheritance of the Almighty from on high? 31:3 Is it not destruction for the wicked,And disaster for the workers of iniquity? 31:4 Does He not see my ways,And count all my steps? 31:5 "If I have walked with falsehood,Or if my foot has hastened to deceit, 31:6 Let me be weighed on honest scales,That God may know my integrity. 31:7 If my step has turned from the way,Or my heart walked after my eyes,Or if any spot adheres to my hands, 31:8 Then let me sow, and another eat;Yes, let my harvest be rooted out. 31:9 "If my heart has been enticed by a woman,Or if I have lurked at my neighbor's door, 31:10 Then let my wife grind for another,And let others bow down over her. 31:11 For that would be wickedness;Yes, it would be iniquity deserving of judgment. 31:12 For that would be a fire that consumes to destruction,And would root out all my increase. 31:13 "If I have despised the cause of my male or female servantWhen they complained against me, 31:14 What then shall I do when God rises up?When He punishes, how shall I answer Him? 31:15 Did not He who made me in the womb make them?Did not the same One fashion us in the womb? 31:16 "If I have kept the poor from their desire,Or caused the eyes of the widow to fail, 31:17 Or eaten my morsel by myself,So that the fatherless could not eat of it 31:18 (But from my youth I reared him as a father,And from my mother's womb I guided the widow); 31:19 If I have seen anyone perish for lack of clothing,Or any poor man without covering; 31:20 If his heart has not blessed me,And if he was not warmed with the fleece of my sheep; 31:21 If I have raised my hand against the fatherless,When I saw I had help in the gate; 31:22 Then let my arm fall from my shoulder,Let my arm be torn from the socket. 31:23 For destruction from God is a terror to me,And because of His magnificence I cannot endure. 31:24 "If I have made gold my hope,Or said to fine gold, 'You are my confidence'; 31:25 If I have rejoiced because my wealth was great,And because my hand had gained much; 31:26 If I have observed the sun when it shines,Or the moon moving in brightness, 31:27 So that my heart has been secretly enticed,And my mouth has kissed my hand; 31:28 This also would be an iniquity deserving of judgment,For I would have denied God who is above. 31:29 "If I have rejoiced at the destruction of him who hated me,Or lifted myself up when evil found him 31:30 (Indeed I have not allowed my mouth to sinBy asking for a curse on his soul); 31:31 If the men of my tent have not said,'Who is there that has not been satisfied with his meat?' 31:32 (But no sojourner had to lodge in the street,For I have opened my doors to the traveler); 31:33 If I have covered my transgressions as Adam,By hiding my iniquity in my bosom, 31:34 Because I feared the great multitude,And dreaded the contempt of families,So that I kept silenceAnd did not go out of the door- 31:35 Oh, that I had one to hear me!Here is my mark.Oh, that the Almighty would answer me,That my Prosecutor had written a book! 31:36 Surely I would carry it on my shoulder,And bind it on me like a crown; 31:37 I would declare to Him the number of my steps;Like a prince I would approach Him. 31:38 "If my land cries out against me,And its furrows weep together; 31:39 If I have eaten its fruit without money,Or caused its owners to lose their lives; 31:40 Then let thistles grow instead of wheat,And weeds instead of barley." The words of Job are ended.
28:1 わたしたちが助かったとき、この島がマルタと呼ばれていることが分かった。 28:2 島の住民は大変親切にしてくれた。降る雨と寒さをしのぐためにたき火をたいて、わたしたち一同をもてなしてくれたのである。 28:3 パウロが一束の枯れ枝を集めて火にくべると、一匹の蝮が熱気のために出て来て、その手に絡みついた。 28:4 住民は彼の手にぶら下がっているこの生き物を見て、互いに言った。「この人はきっと人殺しにちがいない。海では助かったが、『正義の女神』はこの人を生かしておかないのだ。」 28:5 ところが、パウロはその生き物を火の中に振り落とし、何の害も受けなかった。 28:6 体がはれ上がるか、あるいは急に倒れて死ぬだろうと、彼らはパウロの様子をうかがっていた。しかし、いつまでたっても何も起こらないのを見て、考えを変え、「この人は神様だ」と言った。 28:7 さて、この場所の近くに、島の長官でプブリウスという人の所有地があった。彼はわたしたちを歓迎して、三日間、手厚くもてなしてくれた。 28:8 ときに、プブリウスの父親が熱病と下痢で床についていたので、パウロはその家に行って祈り、手を置いていやした。 28:9 このことがあったので、島のほかの病人たちもやって来て、いやしてもらった。 28:10 それで、彼らはわたしたちに深く敬意を表し、船出のときには、わたしたちに必要な物を持って来てくれた。
28:11 三か月後、わたしたちは、この島で冬を越していたアレクサンドリアの船に乗って出航した。ディオスクロイを船印とする船であった。 28:12 わたしたちは、シラクサに寄港して三日間そこに滞在し、 28:13 ここから海岸沿いに進み、レギオンに着いた。一日たつと、南風が吹いて来たので、二日でプテオリに入港した。 28:14 わたしたちはそこで兄弟たちを見つけ、請われるままに七日間滞在した。こうして、わたしたちはローマに着いた。 28:15 ローマからは、兄弟たちがわたしたちのことを聞き伝えて、アピイフォルムとトレス・タベルネまで迎えに来てくれた。パウロは彼らを見て、神に感謝し、勇気づけられた。 28:16 わたしたちがローマに入ったとき、パウロは番兵を一人つけられたが、自分だけで住むことを許された。
28:1 Now when they had escaped, they then found out that the island was called Malta. 28:2 And the natives showed us unusual kindness; for they kindled a fire and made us all welcome, because of the rain that was falling and because of the cold. 28:3 But when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and laid them on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat, and fastened on his hand. 28:4 So when the natives saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, "No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he has escaped the sea, yet justice does not allow to live." 28:5 But he shook off the creature into the fire and suffered no harm. 28:6 However, they were expecting that he would swell up or suddenly fall down dead. But after they had looked for a long time and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds and said that he was a god. 28:7 In that region there was an estate of the leading citizen of the island, whose name was Publius, who received us and entertained us courteously for three days. 28:8 And it happened that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and dysentery. Paul went in to him and prayed, and he laid his hands on him and healed him. 28:9 So when this was done, the rest of those on the island who had diseases also came and were healed. 28:10 They also honored us in many ways; and when we departed, they provided such things as were necessary. 28:11 After three months we sailed in an Alexandrian ship whose figurehead was the Twin Brothers, which had wintered at the island. 28:12 And landing at Syracuse, we stayed three days. 28:13 From there we circled round and reached Rhegium. And after one day the south wind blew; and the next day we came to Puteoli, 28:14 where we found brethren, and were invited to stay with them seven days. And so we went toward Rome. 28:15 And from there, when the brethren heard about us, they came to meet us as far as Appii Forum and Three Inns. When Paul saw them, he thanked God and took courage. 28:16 Now when we came to Rome, the centurion delivered the prisoners to the captain of the guard; but Paul was permitted to dwell by himself with the soldier who guarded him.
