9:1 知恵は家を建て、七本の柱を刻んで立てた。 9:2 獣を屠り、酒を調合し、食卓を整え 9:3 はしためを町の高い所に遣わして／呼びかけさせた。 9:4 「浅はかな者はだれでも立ち寄るがよい。」意志の弱い者にはこう言った。 9:5 「わたしのパンを食べ／わたしが調合した酒を飲むがよい 9:6 浅はかさを捨て、命を得るために／分別の道を進むために。」
9:7 不遜な者を諭しても侮られるだけだ。神に逆らう者を戒めても自分が傷を負うだけだ。 9:8 不遜な者を叱るな、彼はあなたを憎むであろう。知恵ある人を叱れ、彼はあなたを愛するであろう。 9:9 知恵ある人に与えれば、彼は知恵を増す。神に従う人に知恵を与えれば、彼は説得力を増す。 9:10 主を畏れることは知恵の初め／聖なる方を知ることは分別の初め。 9:11 わたしによって、あなたの命の日々も／その年月も増す。 9:12 あなたに知恵があるなら、それはあなたのもの。不遜であるなら、その咎は独りで負うのだ
。9:13 愚かさという女がいる。騒々しい女だ。浅はかさともいう。何ひとつ知らない。 9:14 自分の家の門口に座り込んだり／町の高い所に席を構えたりして 9:15 道行く人に呼びかける／自分の道をまっすぐ急ぐ人々に。 9:16 「浅はかな者はだれでも立ち寄るがよい。」意志の弱い者にはこう言う。 9:17 「盗んだ水は甘く／隠れて食べるパンはうまいものだ。」 9:18 そこに死霊がいることを知る者はない。彼女に招かれた者は深い陰府に落ちる。
9:1 Wisdom has built her house,She has hewn out her seven pillars; 9:2 She has slaughtered her meat,She has mixed her wine,She has also furnished her table. 9:3 She has sent out her maidens,She cries out from the highest places of the city, 9:4 "Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!"As for him who lacks understanding, she says to him, 9:5 "Come, eat of my breadAnd drink of the wine I have mixed. 9:6 Forsake foolishness and live,And go in the way of understanding. 9:7 "He who corrects a scoffer gets shame for himself,And he who rebukes a wicked man only harms himself. 9:8 Do not correct a scoffer, lest he hate you;Rebuke a wise man, and he will love you. 9:9 Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser;Teach a just man, and he will increase in learning. 9:10 "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. 9:11 For by me your days will be multiplied,And years of life will be added to you. 9:12 If you are wise, you are wise for yourself,And if you scoff, you will bear it alone." 9:13 A foolish woman is clamorous;She is simple, and knows nothing. 9:14 For she sits at the door of her house,On a seat by the highest places of the city, 9:15 To call to those who pass by,Who go straight on their way: 9:16 "Whoever is simple, let him turn in here";And as for him who lacks understanding, she says to him, 9:17 "Stolen water is sweet,And bread eaten in secret is pleasant." 9:18 But he does not know that the dead are there,That her guests are in the depths of hell.
9:19 ところで、あなたは言うでしょう。「ではなぜ、神はなおも人を責められるのだろうか。だれが神の御心に逆らうことができようか」と。 9:20 人よ、神に口答えするとは、あなたは何者か。造られた物が造った者に、「どうしてわたしをこのように造ったのか」と言えるでしょうか。 9:21 焼き物師は同じ粘土から、一つを貴いことに用いる器に、一つを貴くないことに用いる器に造る権限があるのではないか。 9:22 神はその怒りを示し、その力を知らせようとしておられたが、怒りの器として滅びることになっていた者たちを寛大な心で耐え忍ばれたとすれば、 9:23 それも、憐れみの器として栄光を与えようと準備しておられた者たちに、御自分の豊かな栄光をお示しになるためであったとすれば、どうでしょう。 9:24 神はわたしたちを憐れみの器として、ユダヤ人からだけでなく、異邦人の中からも召し出してくださいました。 9:25 ホセアの書にも、次のように述べられています。「わたしは、自分の民でない者をわたしの民と呼び、／愛されなかった者を愛された者と呼ぶ。 9:26 『あなたたちは、わたしの民ではない』／と言われたその場所で、／彼らは生ける神の子らと呼ばれる。」 9:27 また、イザヤはイスラエルについて、叫んでいます。「たとえイスラエルの子らの数が海辺の砂のようであっても、残りの者が救われる。 9:28 主は地上において完全に、しかも速やかに、言われたことを行われる。」 9:29 それはまた、イザヤがあらかじめこう告げていたとおりです。「万軍の主がわたしたちに子孫を残されなかったら、／わたしたちはソドムのようになり、／ゴモラのようにされたであろう。」
9:30 では、どういうことになるのか。義を求めなかった異邦人が、義、しかも信仰による義を得ました。 9:31 しかし、イスラエルは義の律法を追い求めていたのに、その律法に達しませんでした。 9:32 なぜですか。イスラエルは、信仰によってではなく、行いによって達せられるかのように、考えたからです。彼らはつまずきの石につまずいたのです。 9:33 「見よ、わたしはシオンに、／つまずきの石、妨げの岩を置く。これを信じる者は、失望することがない」と書いてあるとおりです。
9:19 You will say to me then, "Why does He still find fault? For who has resisted His will?" 9:20 But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, "Why have you made me like this?" 9:21 Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor? 9:22 What if God, wanting to show His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, 9:23 and that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory, 9:24 even us whom He called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles? 9:25 As He says also in Hosea:"I will call them My people, who were not My people,And her beloved, who was not beloved." 9:26 "And it shall come to pass in the place where it was said to them,'You are not My people,'There they shall be called sons of the living God." 9:27 Isaiah also cries out concerning Israel:"Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea,The remnant will be saved. 9:28 For He will finish the work and cut it short in righteousness,Because the Lord will make a short work upon the earth." 9:29 And as Isaiah said before:"Unless the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed,We would have become like Sodom,And we would have been made like Gomorrah." 9:30 What shall we say then? That Gentiles, who did not pursue righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness of faith; 9:31 but Israel, pursuing the law of righteousness, has not attained to the law of righteousness. 9:32 Why? Because they did not seek it by faith, but as it were, by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumbling stone. 9:33 As it is written:"Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and rock of offense,And whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame."
