1:1 エルサレムの王、ダビデの子、コヘレトの言葉。 1:2 コヘレトは言う。なんという空しさ／なんという空しさ、すべては空しい。 1:3 太陽の下、人は労苦するが／すべての労苦も何になろう。 1:4 一代過ぎればまた一代が起こり／永遠に耐えるのは大地。 1:5 日は昇り、日は沈み／あえぎ戻り、また昇る。 1:6 風は南に向かい北へ巡り、めぐり巡って吹き／風はただ巡りつつ、吹き続ける。 1:7 川はみな海に注ぐが海は満ちることなく／どの川も、繰り返しその道程を流れる。 1:8 何もかも、もの憂い。語り尽くすこともできず／目は見飽きることなく／耳は聞いても満たされない。 1:9 かつてあったことは、これからもあり／かつて起こったことは、これからも起こる。太陽の下、新しいものは何ひとつない。 1:10 見よ、これこそ新しい、と言ってみても／それもまた、永遠の昔からあり／この時代の前にもあった。 1:11 昔のことに心を留めるものはない。これから先にあることも／その後の世にはだれも心に留めはしまい。 1:12 わたしコヘレトはイスラエルの王としてエルサレムにいた。 1:13 天の下に起こることをすべて知ろうと熱心に探究し、知恵を尽くして調べた。神はつらいことを人の子らの務めとなさったものだ。 1:14 わたしは太陽の下に起こることをすべて見極めたが、見よ、どれもみな空しく、風を追うようなことであった。 1:15 ゆがみは直らず／欠けていれば、数えられない。 1:16 わたしは心にこう言ってみた。「見よ、かつてエルサレムに君臨した者のだれにもまさって、わたしは知恵を深め、大いなるものとなった」と。わたしの心は知恵と知識を深く見極めたが、 1:17 熱心に求めて知ったことは、結局、知恵も知識も狂気であり愚かであるにすぎないということだ。これも風を追うようなことだと悟った。 1:18 知恵が深まれば悩みも深まり／知識が増せば痛みも増す。
1:1 The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem. 1:2 "Vanity of vanities," says the Preacher;"Vanity of vanities, all is vanity." 1:3 What profit has a man from all his laborIn which he toils under the sun? 1:4 One generation passes away, and another generation comes;But the earth abides forever. 1:5 The sun also rises, and the sun goes down,And hastens to the place where it arose. 1:6 The wind goes toward the south,And turns around to the north;The wind whirls about continually,And comes again on its circuit. 1:7 All the rivers run into the sea,Yet the sea is not full;To the place from which the rivers come,There they return again. 1:8 All things are full of labor;Man cannot express it.The eye is not satisfied with seeing,Nor the ear filled with hearing. 1:9 That which has been is what will be,That which is done is what will be done,And there is nothing new under the sun. 1:10 Is there anything of which it may be said,"See, this is new"?It has already been in ancient times before us. 1:11 There is no remembrance of former things,Nor will there be any remembrance of things that are to comeBy those who will come after. 1:12 I, the Preacher, was king over Israel in Jerusalem. 1:13 And I set my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all that is done under heaven; this burdensome task God has given to the sons of man, by which they may be exercised. 1:14 I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and indeed, all is vanity and grasping for the wind. 1:15 What is crooked cannot be made straight,And what is lacking cannot be numbered. 1:16 I communed with my heart, saying, "Look, I have attained greatness, and have gained more wisdom than all who were before me in Jerusalem. My heart has understood great wisdom and knowledge." 1:17 And I set my heart to know wisdom and to know madness and folly. I perceived that this also is grasping for the wind. 1:18 For in much wisdom is much grief,And he who increases knowledge increases sorrow.
5:1 現に聞くところによると、あなたがたの間にみだらな行いがあり、しかもそれは、異邦人の間にもないほどのみだらな行いで、ある人が父の妻をわがものとしているとのことです。 5:2 それにもかかわらず、あなたがたは高ぶっているのか。むしろ悲しんで、こんなことをする者を自分たちの間から除外すべきではなかったのですか。 5:3 わたしは体では離れていても霊ではそこにいて、現に居合わせた者のように、そんなことをした者を既に裁いてしまっています。 5:4 つまり、わたしたちの主イエスの名により、わたしたちの主イエスの力をもって、あなたがたとわたしの霊が集まり、 5:5 このような者を、その肉が滅ぼされるようにサタンに引き渡したのです。それは主の日に彼の霊が救われるためです。 5:6 あなたがたが誇っているのは、よくない。わずかなパン種が練り粉全体を膨らませることを、知らないのですか。 5:7 いつも新しい練り粉のままでいられるように、古いパン種をきれいに取り除きなさい。現に、あなたがたはパン種の入っていない者なのです。キリストが、わたしたちの過越の小羊として屠られたからです。 5:8 だから、古いパン種や悪意と邪悪のパン種を用いないで、パン種の入っていない、純粋で真実のパンで過越祭を祝おうではありませんか。 5:9 わたしは以前手紙で、みだらな者と交際してはいけないと書きましたが、 5:10 その意味は、この世のみだらな者とか強欲な者、また、人の物を奪う者や偶像を礼拝する者たちと一切つきあってはならない、ということではありません。もし、そうだとしたら、あなたがたは世の中から出て行かねばならないでしょう。 5:11 わたしが書いたのは、兄弟と呼ばれる人で、みだらな者、強欲な者、偶像を礼拝する者、人を悪く言う者、酒におぼれる者、人の物を奪う者がいれば、つきあうな、そのような人とは一緒に食事もするな、ということだったのです。 5:12 外部の人々を裁くことは、わたしの務めでしょうか。内部の人々をこそ、あなたがたは裁くべきではありませんか。 5:13 外部の人々は神がお裁きになります。「あなたがたの中から悪い者を除き去りなさい。」
5:1 It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and such sexual immorality as is not even named among the Gentiles-that a man has his father's wife! 5:2 And you are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he who has done this deed might be taken away from among you. 5:3 For I indeed, as absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged (as though I were present) him who has so done this deed. 5:4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are gathered together, along with my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5:5 deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. 5:6 Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? 5:7 Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us. 5:8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. 5:9 I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. 5:10 Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. 5:11 But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner-not even to eat with such a person. 5:12 For what have I to do with judging those also who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside? 5:13 But those who are outside God judges. Therefore "put away from yourselves the evil person."
