8:1 「人の知恵は顔に光を添え、固い顔も和らげる。」賢者のように、この言葉の解釈ができるのは誰か。 8:2 それは、わたしだ。すなわち、王の言葉を守れ、神に対する誓いと同様に。 8:3 気短に王の前を立ち去ろうとするな。不快なことに固執するな。王は望むままにふるまうのだから。 8:4 王の言った言葉が支配する。だれも彼に指図することはできない。 8:5 命令に従っていれば、不快な目に遭うことはない。賢者はふさわしい時ということを心得ている。 8:6 何事にもふさわしい時があるものだ。人間には災難のふりかかることが多いが、 8:7 何事が起こるかを知ることはできない。どのように起こるかも、誰が教えてくれようか。 8:8 人は霊を支配できない。霊を押しとどめることはできない。死の日を支配することもできない。戦争を免れる者もない。悪は悪を行う者を逃れさせはしない。 8:9 わたしはこのようなことを見極め、太陽の下に起こるすべてのことを、熱心に考えた。今は、人間が人間を支配して苦しみをもたらすような時だ。 8:10 だから、わたしは悪人が葬儀をしてもらうのも、聖なる場所に出入りするのも、また、正しいことをした人が町で忘れ去られているのも見る。これまた、空しい。 8:11 悪事に対する条令が速やかに実施されないので／人は大胆に悪事をはたらく。 8:12 罪を犯し百度も悪事をはたらいている者が／なお、長生きしている。にもかかわらず、わたしには分かっている。神を畏れる人は、畏れるからこそ幸福になり 8:13 悪人は神を畏れないから、長生きできず／影のようなもので、決して幸福にはなれない。 8:14 この地上には空しいことが起こる。善人でありながら／悪人の業の報いを受ける者があり／悪人でありながら／善人の業の報いを受ける者がある。これまた空しいと、わたしは言う。 8:15 それゆえ、わたしは快楽をたたえる。太陽の下、人間にとって／飲み食いし、楽しむ以上の幸福はない。それは、太陽の下、神が彼に与える人生の／日々の労苦に添えられたものなのだ。 8:16 わたしは知恵を深めてこの地上に起こることを見極めようと心を尽くし、昼も夜も眠らずに努め、 8:17 神のすべての業を観察した。まことに、太陽の下に起こるすべてのことを悟ることは、人間にはできない。人間がどんなに労苦し追求しても、悟ることはできず、賢者がそれを知ったと言おうとも、彼も悟ってはいない。
8:1 Who is like a wise man?And who knows the interpretation of a thing?A man's wisdom makes his face shine,And the sternness of his face is changed. 8:2 I say, "Keep the king's commandment for the sake of your oath to God. 8:3 "Do not be hasty to go from his presence. Do not take your stand for an evil thing, for he does whatever pleases him." 8:4 Where the word of a king is, there is power;And who may say to him, "What are you doing?" 8:5 He who keeps his command will experience nothing harmful;And a wise man's heart discerns both time and judgment, 8:6 Because for every matter there is a time and judgment,Though the misery of man increases greatly. 8:7 For he does not know what will happen;So who can tell him when it will occur? 8:8 No one has power over the spirit to retain the spirit,And no one has power in the day of death.There is no release from that war,And wickedness will not deliver those who are given to it. 8:9 All this I have seen, and applied my heart to every work that is done under the sun: There is a time in which one man rules over another to his own hurt. 8:10 Then I saw the wicked buried, who had come and gone from the place of holiness, and they were forgotten in the city where they had so done. This also is vanity. 8:11 Because the sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. 8:12 Though a sinner does evil a hundred times, and his days are prolonged, yet I surely know that it will be well with those who fear God, who fear before Him. 8:13 But it will not be well with the wicked; nor will he prolong his days, which are as a shadow, because he does not fear before God. 8:14 There is a vanity which occurs on earth, that there are just men to whom it happens according to the work of the wicked; again, there are wicked men to whom it happens according to the work of the righteous. I said that this also is vanity. 8:15 So I commended enjoyment, because a man has nothing better under the sun than to eat, drink, and be merry; for this will remain with him in his labor all the days of his life which God gives him under the sun. 8:16 When I applied my heart to know wisdom and to see the business that is done on earth, even though one sees no sleep day or night, 8:17 then I saw all the work of God, that a man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun. For though a man labors to discover it, yet he will not find it; moreover, though a wise man attempts to know it, he will not be able to find it.
9:1 わたしは自由な者ではないか。使徒ではないか。わたしたちの主イエスを見たではないか。あなたがたは、主のためにわたしが働いて得た成果ではないか。 9:2 他の人たちにとってわたしは使徒でないにしても、少なくともあなたがたにとっては使徒なのです。あなたがたは主に結ばれており、わたしが使徒であることの生きた証拠だからです。 9:3 わたしを批判する人たちには、こう弁明します。 9:4 わたしたちには、食べたり、飲んだりする権利が全くないのですか。 9:5 わたしたちには、他の使徒たちや主の兄弟たちやケファのように、信者である妻を連れて歩く権利がないのですか。 9:6 あるいは、わたしとバルナバだけには、生活の資を得るための仕事をしなくてもよいという権利がないのですか。 9:7 そもそも、いったいだれが自費で戦争に行きますか。ぶどう畑を作って、その実を食べない者がいますか。羊の群れを飼って、その乳を飲まない者がいますか。 9:8 わたしがこう言うのは、人間の思いからでしょうか。律法も言っているではないですか。 9:9 モーセの律法に、「脱穀している牛に口籠をはめてはならない」と書いてあります。神が心にかけておられるのは、牛のことですか。 9:10 それとも、わたしたちのために言っておられるのでしょうか。もちろん、わたしたちのためにそう書かれているのです。耕す者が望みを持って耕し、脱穀する者が分け前にあずかることを期待して働くのは当然です。 9:11 わたしたちがあなたがたに霊的なものを蒔いたのなら、あなたがたから肉のものを刈り取ることは、行き過ぎでしょうか。 9:12 他の人たちが、あなたがたに対するこの権利を持っているとすれば、わたしたちはなおさらそうではありませんか。しかし、わたしたちはこの権利を用いませんでした。かえってキリストの福音を少しでも妨げてはならないと、すべてを耐え忍んでいます。 9:13 あなたがたは知らないのですか。神殿で働く人たちは神殿から下がる物を食べ、祭壇に仕える人たちは祭壇の供え物の分け前にあずかります。 9:14 同じように、主は、福音を宣べ伝える人たちには福音によって生活の資を得るようにと、指示されました。
9:1 Am I not an apostle? Am I not free? Have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? Are you not my work in the Lord? 9:2 If I am not an apostle to others, yet doubtless I am to you. For you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord. 9:3 My defense to those who examine me is this: 9:4 Do we have no right to eat and drink? 9:5 Do we have no right to take along a believing wife, as do also the other apostles, the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas? 9:6 Or is it only Barnabas and I who have no right to refrain from working? 9:7 Who ever goes to war at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard and does not eat of its fruit? Or who tends a flock and does not drink of the milk of the flock? 9:8 Do I say these things as a mere man? Or does not the law say the same also? 9:9 For it is written in the law of Moses, "You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain." Is it oxen God is concerned about? 9:10 Or does He say it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written, that he who plows should plow in hope, and he who threshes in hope should be partaker of his hope. 9:11 If we have sown spiritual things for you, is it a great thing if we reap your material things? 9:12 If others are partakers of this right over you, are we not even more? Nevertheless we have not used this right, but endure all things lest we hinder the gospel of Christ. 9:13 Do you not know that those who minister the holy things eat of the things of the temple, and those who serve at the altar partake of the offerings of the altar? 9:14 Even so the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should live from the gospel.
