10:1 死んだ蠅は香料作りの香油を腐らせ、臭くする。僅かな愚行は知恵や名誉より高くつく。 10:2 賢者の心は右へ、愚者の心は左へ。 10:3 愚者は道行くときすら愚かで／だれにでも自分は愚者だと言いふらす。 10:4 主人の気持があなたに対してたかぶっても／その場を離れるな。落ち着けば、大きな過ちも見逃してもらえる。 10:5 太陽の下に、災難なことがあるのを見た。君主の誤りで 10:6 愚者が甚だしく高められるかと思えば／金持ちが身を低くして座す。 10:7 奴隷が馬に乗って行くかと思えば／君侯が奴隷のように徒歩で行く。 10:8 落とし穴を掘る者は自らそこに落ち／石垣を破る者は蛇にかまれる。 10:9 石を切り出す者は石に傷つき／木を割る者は木の難に遭う。 10:10 なまった斧を研いでおけば力が要らない。知恵を備えておけば利益がある。 10:11 呪文も唱えぬ先に蛇がかみつけば／呪術師には何の利益もない。 10:12 賢者の口の言葉は恵み。愚者の唇は彼自身を呑み込む。 10:13 愚者はたわ言をもって口を開き／うわ言をもって口を閉ざす。 10:14 愚者は口数が多い。未来のことはだれにも分からない。死後どうなるのか、誰が教えてくれよう。 10:15 愚者は労苦してみたところで疲れるだけだ。都に行く道さえ知らないのだから。 10:16 いかに不幸なことか／王が召し使いのようで／役人らが朝から食い散らしている国よ。 10:17 いかに幸いなことか／王が高貴な生まれで／役人らがしかるべきときに食事をし／決して酔わず、力に満ちている国よ。 10:18 両手が垂れていれば家は漏り／両腕が怠惰なら梁は落ちる。 10:19 食事をするのは笑うため。酒は人生を楽しむため。銀はすべてにこたえてくれる。 10:20 親友に向かってすら王を呪うな。寝室ですら金持ちを呪うな。空の鳥がその声を伝え／翼あるものがその言葉を告げる。
10:1 Dead flies putrefy the perfumer's ointment,And cause it to give off a foul odor;So does a little folly to one respected for wisdom and honor. 10:2 A wise man's heart is at his right hand,But a fool's heart at his left. 10:3 Even when a fool walks along the way,He lacks wisdom,And he shows everyone that he is a fool. 10:4 If the spirit of the ruler rises against you,Do not leave your post;For conciliation pacifies great offenses. 10:5 There is an evil I have seen under the sun,As an error proceeding from the ruler: 10:6 Folly is set in great dignity,While the rich sit in a lowly place. 10:7 I have seen servants on horses,While princes walk on the ground like servants. 10:8 He who digs a pit will fall into it,And whoever breaks through a wall will be bitten by a serpent. 10:9 He who quarries stones may be hurt by them,And he who splits wood may be endangered by it. 10:10 If the ax is dull,And one does not sharpen the edge,Then he must use more strength;But wisdom brings success. 10:11 A serpent may bite when it is not charmed;The babbler is no different. 10:12 The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious,But the lips of a fool shall swallow him up; 10:13 The words of his mouth begin with foolishness,And the end of his talk is raving madness. 10:14 A fool also multiplies words.No man knows what is to be;Who can tell him what will be after him? 10:15 The labor of fools wearies them,For they do not even know how to go to the city! 10:16 Woe to you, O land, when your king is a child,And your princes feast in the morning! 10:17 Blessed are you, O land, when your king is the son of nobles,And your princes feast at the proper time-For strength and not for drunkenness! 10:18 Because of laziness the building decays,And through idleness of hands the house leaks. 10:19 A feast is made for laughter,And wine makes merry;But money answers everything. 10:20 Do not curse the king, even in your thought;Do not curse the rich, even in your bedroom;For a bird of the air may carry your voice,And a bird in flight may tell the matter.
10:1 兄弟たち、次のことはぜひ知っておいてほしい。わたしたちの先祖は皆、雲の下におり、皆、海を通り抜け、 10:2 皆、雲の中、海の中で、モーセに属するものとなる洗礼を授けられ、 10:3 皆、同じ霊的な食物を食べ、 10:4 皆が同じ霊的な飲み物を飲みました。彼らが飲んだのは、自分たちに離れずについて来た霊的な岩からでしたが、この岩こそキリストだったのです。 10:5 しかし、彼らの大部分は神の御心に適わず、荒れ野で滅ぼされてしまいました。 10:6 これらの出来事は、わたしたちを戒める前例として起こったのです。彼らが悪をむさぼったように、わたしたちが悪をむさぼることのないために。 10:7 彼らの中のある者がしたように、偶像を礼拝してはいけない。「民は座って飲み食いし、立って踊り狂った」と書いてあります。 10:8 彼らの中のある者がしたように、みだらなことをしないようにしよう。みだらなことをした者は、一日で二万三千人倒れて死にました。 10:9 また、彼らの中のある者がしたように、キリストを試みないようにしよう。試みた者は、蛇にかまれて滅びました。 10:10 彼らの中には不平を言う者がいたが、あなたがたはそのように不平を言ってはいけない。不平を言った者は、滅ぼす者に滅ぼされました。 10:11 これらのことは前例として彼らに起こったのです。それが書き伝えられているのは、時の終わりに直面しているわたしたちに警告するためなのです。 10:12 だから、立っていると思う者は、倒れないように気をつけるがよい。 10:13 あなたがたを襲った試練で、人間として耐えられないようなものはなかったはずです。神は真実な方です。あなたがたを耐えられないような試練に遭わせることはなさらず、試練と共に、それに耐えられるよう、逃れる道をも備えていてくださいます。
10:1 Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, 10:2 all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, 10:3 all ate the same spiritual food, 10:4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ. 10:5 But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness. 10:6 Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted. 10:7 And do not become idolaters as were some of them. As it is written, "The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play." 10:8 Nor let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them did, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell; 10:9 nor let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents; 10:10 nor complain, as some of them also complained, and were destroyed by the destroyer. 10:11 Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come. 10:12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
