17:1 ダマスコについての託宣。「見よ、ダマスコは都の面影を失い／瓦礫の山となる。 17:2 アロエルの町々は見捨てられ／家畜の群れが伏し、脅かすものもない。 17:3 エフライムからは砦が／ダマスコからは王権が絶える。アラムに残るものは／イスラエルの人々の栄光のようになる」と／万軍の主は言われる。 17:4 「その日が来れば、ヤコブの力は弱まり／その肥えた肉はやせ衰える。 17:5 刈り入れる者の集めた立ち枯れの穂／その腕に集めた落ち穂／レファイムの谷で拾った落ち穂のようになる。 17:6 摘み残りしかないのに／オリーブの木を打つようなものだ。梢の方に二つ三つの実／豊かに実っている枝でも、四つ五つ」と／イスラエルの神、主は言われる。 17:7 その日には、人は造り主を仰ぎ、その目をイスラエルの聖なる方に注ぐ。 17:8 もはや、自分の手が作り、自分の指が作った祭壇を仰ぐことなく、アシェラの柱や香炉台を見ようとはしない。 17:9 その日には、彼らの砦の町々は、イスラエルの人々によって見捨てられた木の枝や梢のように、捨てられて廃虚となる。 17:10 お前は救い主である神を忘れ去り／砦と頼む岩を心に留めていない。それなら、お前の好む神々にささげる園を造り／異教の神にささげるぶどうの枝を根付かせてみよ。 17:11 ある日、園を造り、成長させ／ある朝、種を蒔き、芽生えさせてみても／ある日、病といやし難い痛みが臨み／収穫は消えうせる。
17:12 災いだ、多くの民がどよめく／どよめく海のどよめきのように。国々が騒ぎ立つ／騒ぎ立つ大水の騒ぎのように。 17:13 国々は、多くの水が騒ぐように騒ぎ立つ。だが、主が叱咤されると彼らは遠くへ逃げる／山の上で、もみ殻が大風に／枯れ葉がつむじ風に追われるように。 17:14 夕べには、見よ、破滅が襲い／夜の明ける前に消えうせる。これが我々を略奪する者の受ける分／我々を強奪する者の運命だ。

17:1 The burden against Damascus."Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city,And it will be a ruinous heap. 17:2 The cities of Aroer are forsaken;They will be for flocksWhich lie down, and no one will make them afraid. 17:3 The fortress also will cease from Ephraim,The kingdom from Damascus,And the remnant of Syria;They will be as the glory of the children of Israel,"Says the Lord of hosts. 17:4 "In that day it shall come to passThat the glory of Jacob will wane,And the fatness of his flesh grow lean. 17:5 It shall be as when the harvester gathers the grain,And reaps the heads with his arm;It shall be as he who gathers heads of grainIn the Valley of Rephaim. 17:6 Yet gleaning grapes will be left in it,Like the shaking of an olive tree,Two or three olives at the top of the uppermost bough,Four or five in its most fruitful branches,"Says the Lord God of Israel. 17:7 In that day a man will look to his Maker,And his eyes will have respect for the Holy One of Israel. 17:8 He will not look to the altars,The work of his hands;He will not respect what his fingers have made,Nor the wooden images nor the incense altars. 17:9 In that day his strong cities will be as a forsaken boughAnd an uppermost branch,Which they left because of the children of Israel;And there will be desolation. 17:10 Because you have forgotten the God of your salvation,And have not been mindful of the Rock of your stronghold,Therefore you will plant pleasant plantsAnd set out foreign seedlings; 17:11 In the day you will make your plant to grow,And in the morning you will make your seed to flourish;But the harvest will be a heap of ruinsIn the day of grief and desperate sorrow. 17:12 Woe to the multitude of many peopleWho make a noise like the roar of the seas,And to the rushing of nationsThat make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters! 17:13 The nations will rush like the rushing of many waters;But God will rebuke them and they will flee far away,And be chased like the chaff of the mountains before the wind,Like a rolling thing before the whirlwind. 17:14 Then behold, at eventide, trouble!And before the morning, he is no more.This is the portion of those who plunder us,And the lot of those who rob us.
18:1 Woe to the land shadowed with buzzing wings,Which is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia, 18:2 Which sends ambassadors by sea,Even in vessels of reed on the waters, saying,"Go, swift messengers, to a nation tall and smooth of skin,To a people terrible from their beginning onward,A nation powerful and treading down,Whose land the rivers divide." 18:3 All inhabitants of the world and dwellers on the earth:When he lifts up a banner on the mountains, you see it;And when he blows a trumpet, you hear it. 18:4 For so the Lord said to me,"I will take My rest,And I will look from My dwelling placeLike clear heat in sunshine,Like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest." 18:5 For before the harvest, when the bud is perfectAnd the sour grape is ripening in the flower,He will both cut off the sprigs with pruning hooksAnd take away and cut down the branches. 18:6 They will be left together for the mountain birds of preyAnd for the beasts of the earth;The birds of prey will summer on them,And all the beasts of the earth will winter on them. 18:7 In that time a present will be brought to the Lord of hostsFrom a people tall and smooth of skin,And from a people terrible from their beginning onward,A nation powerful and treading down,Whose land the rivers divide-To the place of the name of the Lord of hosts,To Mount Zion.

6:1 We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. 6:2 For He says:"In an acceptable time I have heard you,And in the day of salvation I have helped you." Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. 6:3 We give no offense in anything, that our ministry may not be blamed. 6:4 But in all things we commend ourselves as ministers of God: in much patience, in tribulations, in needs, in distresses, 6:5 in stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labors, in sleeplessness, in fastings; 6:6 by purity, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Spirit, by sincere love, 6:7 by the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left, 6:8 by honor and dishonor, by evil report and good report; as deceivers, and yet true; 6:9 as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold we live; as chastened, and yet not killed; 6:10 as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things. 6:11 O Corinthians! We have spoken openly to you, our heart is wide open. 6:12 You are not restricted by us, but you are restricted by your own affections. 6:13 Now in return for the same (I speak as to children), you also be open.
