41:1 島々よ、わたしのもとに来て静まれ。国々の民よ、力を新たにせよ。進み出て語れ。互いに近づいて裁きを行おう。 41:2 東からふさわしい人を奮い立たせ、足もとに招き／国々を彼に渡して、王たちを従わせたのは誰か。この人の剣は彼らを塵のように／弓は彼らをわらのように散らす。 41:3 彼は敵を追い、安全に道を進み／彼の足をとどめるものはない。 41:4 この事を起こし、成し遂げたのは誰か。それは、主なるわたし。初めから代々の人を呼び出すもの／初めであり、後の代と共にいるもの。 41:5 島々は畏れをもって仰ぎ／地の果てはおののき、共に近づいて来る。 41:6 彼らは助け合い、互いに励ましの声をかける。 41:7 職人は金工を励まし／大鎚を振るう者は小鎚を使う者を励ます。ひとりが据え付けて、良しと言うと／ひとりは釘を打って動かないようにする。 41:8 わたしの僕イスラエルよ。わたしの選んだヤコブよ。わたしの愛する友アブラハムの末よ。 41:9 わたしはあなたを固くとらえ／地の果て、その隅々から呼び出して言った。あなたはわたしの僕／わたしはあなたを選び、決して見捨てない。 41:10 恐れることはない、わたしはあなたと共にいる神。たじろぐな、わたしはあなたの神。勢いを与えてあなたを助け／わたしの救いの右の手であなたを支える。 41:11 見よ、あなたに対して怒りを燃やす者は皆／恥を受け、辱められ／争う者は滅ぼされ、無に等しくなる。 41:12 争いを仕掛ける者は捜しても見いだせず／戦いを挑む者は無に帰し、むなしくなる。 41:13 わたしは主、あなたの神。あなたの右の手を固く取って言う／恐れるな、わたしはあなたを助ける、と。 41:14 あなたを贖う方、イスラエルの聖なる神／主は言われる。恐れるな、虫けらのようなヤコブよ／イスラエルの人々よ、わたしはあなたを助ける。 41:15 見よ、わたしはあなたを打穀機とする／新しく、鋭く、多くの刃をつけた打穀機と。あなたは山々を踏み砕き、丘をもみ殻とする。 41:16 あなたがそれをあおると、風が巻き上げ／嵐がそれを散らす。あなたは主によって喜び躍り／イスラエルの聖なる神によって誇る。 41:17 苦しむ人、貧しい人は水を求めても得ず／渇きに舌は干上がる。主であるわたしが彼らに答えよう。イスラエルの神であるわたしは彼らを見捨てない。 41:18 わたしは不毛の高原に大河を開き／谷あいの野に泉を湧き出させる。荒れ野を湖とし／乾いた地を水の源とする。 41:19 荒れ野に杉やアカシヤを／ミルトスやオリーブの木を植え／荒れ地に糸杉、樅、つげの木を共に茂らせる。 41:20 彼らはこれを見て、悟り／互いに気づかせ、目覚めさせる／主の御手がこれを成し遂げ／イスラエルの聖なる神がこれを創造されたことを。 41:21 訴え出て、争うがよい、と主は言われる。お前たちの論拠を示せ、とヤコブの王は言われる。 41:22 起こるべきことをわたしたちに示し、告げてみよ。初めにあったことを告げてみよ。我々はそれを心に留めよう。あるいは、来るべきことを聞かせてみよ。未来のことを悟るとしよう。 41:23 将来にかかわるしるしは何か、告げてみよ。お前たちが神であることを悟るとしよう。良くも悪くも行ってみよ／我々は共に見せてもらおう。 41:24 しかし、お前たちは無に等しく、働きはむなしい。お前たちを選ぶ者は忌むべき者だ。 41:25 わたしは北から人を奮い立たせ、彼は来る。彼は日の昇るところからわたしの名を呼ぶ。陶工が粘土を踏むように／彼は支配者たちを土くれとして踏みにじる。 41:26 誰か、初めからこれを告げ／わたしたちに悟らせ、前もって示し／そのとおりだと言わせた者があったか。ひとりとして告げた者はなく、聞かせた者もない。お前たちが言うのを聞いた者もない。 41:27 見よ、シオンに初めから告げられていたことは／ここに実現した。エルサレムに良い知らせを伝える者を／遣わそうとして 41:28 見回しても、ひとりもいない。彼らの中に、助言を与えうる者はない。彼らに問いかけても、ひと言も返さない。 41:29 見よ、彼らはすべて無に等しく、業もむなしい。彼らの鋳た像はすべて、風のようにうつろだ。
41:1 "Keep silence before Me, O coastlands,And let the people renew their strength!Let them come near, then let them speak;Let us come near together for judgment. 41:2 "Who raised up one from the east?Who in righteousness called him to His feet?Who gave the nations before him,And made him rule over kings?Who gave them as the dust to his sword,As driven stubble to his bow? 41:3 Who pursued them, and passed safelyBy the way that he had not gone with his feet? 41:4 Who has performed and done it,Calling the generations from the beginning?'I, the Lord, am the first;And with the last I am He.' " 41:5 The coastlands saw it and feared,The ends of the earth were afraid;They drew near and came. 41:6 Everyone helped his neighbor,And said to his brother,"Be of good courage!" 41:7 So the craftsman encouraged the goldsmith;He who smooths with the hammer inspired him who strikes the anvil,Saying, "It is ready for the soldering";Then he fastened it with pegs,That it might not totter. 41:8 "But you, Israel, are My servant,Jacob whom I have chosen,The descendants of Abraham My friend. 41:9 You whom I have taken from the ends of the earth,And called from its farthest regions,And said to you,'You are My servant,I have chosen you and have not cast you away: 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you;Be not dismayed, for I am your God.I will strengthen you,Yes, I will help you,I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.' 41:11 "Behold, all those who were incensed against youShall be ashamed and disgraced;They shall be as nothing,And those who strive with you shall perish. 41:12 You shall seek them and not find them-Those who contended with you.Those who war against youShall be as nothing,As a nonexistent thing. 41:13 For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand,Saying to you, 'Fear not, I will help you.' 41:14 "Fear not, you worm Jacob,You men of Israel!I will help you," says the LordAnd your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel. 41:15 "Behold, I will make you into a new threshing sledge with sharp teeth;You shall thresh the mountains and beat them small,And make the hills like chaff. 41:16 You shall winnow them, the wind shall carry them away,And the whirlwind shall scatter them;You shall rejoice in the Lord,And glory in the Holy One of Israel. 41:17 "The poor and needy seek water, but there is none,Their tongues fail for thirst.I, the Lord, will hear them;I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them. 41:18 I will open rivers in desolate heights,And fountains in the midst of the valleys;I will make the wilderness a pool of water,And the dry land springs of water. 41:19 I will plant in the wilderness the cedar and the acacia tree,The myrtle and the oil tree;I will set in the desert the cypress tree and the pineAnd the box tree together, 41:20 That they may see and know,And consider and understand together,That the hand of the Lord has done this,And the Holy One of Israel has created it. 41:21 "Present your case," says the Lord."Bring forth your strong reasons," says the King of Jacob. 41:22 "Let them bring forth and show us what will happen;Let them show the former things, what they were,That we may consider them,And know the latter end of them;Or declare to us things to come. 41:23 Show the things that are to come hereafter,That we may know that you are gods;Yes, do good or do evil,That we may be dismayed and see it together. 41:24 Indeed you are nothing,And your work is nothing;He who chooses you is an abomination. 41:25 "I have raised up one from the north,And he shall come;From the rising of the sun he shall call on My name;And he shall come against princes as though mortar,As the potter treads clay. 41:26 Who has declared from the beginning, that we may know?And former times, that we may say, 'He is righteous'?Surely there is no one who shows,Surely there is no one who declares,Surely there is no one who hears your words. 41:27 The first time I said to Zion,'Look, there they are!'And I will give to Jerusalem one who brings good tidings. 41:28 For I looked, and there was no man;I looked among them, but there was no counselor,Who, when I asked of them, could answer a word. 41:29 Indeed they are all worthless;Their works are nothing;Their molded images are wind and confusion.
4:21 わたしに答えてください。律法の下にいたいと思っている人たち、あなたがたは、律法の言うことに耳を貸さないのですか。 4:22 アブラハムには二人の息子があり、一人は女奴隷から生まれ、もう一人は自由な身の女から生まれたと聖書に書いてあります。 4:23 ところで、女奴隷の子は肉によって生まれたのに対し、自由な女から生まれた子は約束によって生まれたのでした。 4:24 これには、別の意味が隠されています。すなわち、この二人の女とは二つの契約を表しています。子を奴隷の身分に産む方は、シナイ山に由来する契約を表していて、これがハガルです。 4:25 このハガルは、アラビアではシナイ山のことで、今のエルサレムに当たります。なぜなら、今のエルサレムは、その子供たちと共に奴隷となっているからです。 4:26 他方、天のエルサレムは、いわば自由な身の女であって、これはわたしたちの母です。 4:27 なぜなら、次のように書いてあるからです。「喜べ、子を産まない不妊の女よ、／喜びの声をあげて叫べ、／産みの苦しみを知らない女よ。一人取り残された女が夫ある女よりも、／多くの子を産むから。」 4:28 ところで、兄弟たち、あなたがたは、イサクの場合のように、約束の子です。 4:29 けれども、あのとき、肉によって生まれた者が、“霊”によって生まれた者を迫害したように、今も同じようなことが行われています。 4:30 しかし、聖書に何と書いてありますか。「女奴隷とその子を追い出せ。女奴隷から生まれた子は、断じて自由な身の女から生まれた子と一緒に相続人になってはならないからである」と書いてあります。 4:31 要するに、兄弟たち、わたしたちは、女奴隷の子ではなく、自由な身の女から生まれた子なのです。
4:21 Tell me, you who desire to be under the law, do you not hear the law? 4:22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons: the one by a bondwoman, the other by a freewoman. 4:23 But he who was of the bondwoman was born according to the flesh, and he of the freewoman through promise, 4:24 which things are symbolic. For these are the two covenants: the one from Mount Sinai which gives birth to bondage, which is Hagar- 4:25 for this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children- 4:26 but the Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us all. 4:27 For it is written:"Rejoice, O barren,You who do not bear!Break forth and shout,You who are not in labor!For the desolate has many more childrenThan she who has a husband." 4:28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are children of promise. 4:29 But, as he who was born according to the flesh then persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, even so it is now. 4:30 Nevertheless what does the Scripture say? "Cast out the bondwoman and her son, for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman." 4:31 So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman but of the free.
