9:1 荒れ野に旅人の宿を見いだせるものなら／わたしはこの民を捨て／彼らを離れ去るであろう。すべて、姦淫する者であり、裏切る者の集まりだ。 9:2 彼らは舌を弓のように引き絞り／真実ではなく偽りをもってこの地にはびこる。彼らは悪から悪へと進み／わたしを知ろうとしない、と主は言われる。 9:3 人はその隣人を警戒せよ。兄弟ですら信用してはならない。兄弟といっても／「押しのける者（ヤコブ）」であり／隣人はことごとく中傷して歩く。 9:4 人はその隣人を惑わし、まことを語らない。舌に偽りを語ることを教え／疲れるまで悪事を働く。 9:5 欺きに欺きを重ね／わたしを知ることを拒む、と主は言われる。 9:6 それゆえ、万軍の主はこう言われる。見よ、わたしは娘なるわが民を／火をもって溶かし、試す。まことに、彼らに対して何をすべきか。 9:7 彼らの舌は人を殺す矢／その口は欺いて語る。隣人に平和を約束していても／その心の中では、陥れようとたくらんでいる。 9:8 これらのことをわたしは罰せずにいられようかと／主は言われる。このような民に対し、わたしは必ずその悪に報いる。 9:9 山々で、悲しみ嘆く声をあげ／荒れ野の牧草地で、哀歌をうたえ。そこは焼き払われて、通り過ぎる人もなくなり／家畜の鳴く声も聞こえなくなる。空の鳥も家畜も、ことごとく逃れ去った。 9:10 わたしはエルサレムを瓦礫の山／山犬の住みかとし／ユダの町々を荒廃させる。そこに住む者はいなくなる。 9:11 知恵ある人はこれを悟れ。主の口が語られることを告げよ。何故、この地は滅びたのか。焼き払われて荒れ野となり／通り過ぎる人もいない。 9:12 主は言われる。「それは、彼らに与えたわたしの教えを彼らが捨て、わたしの声に聞き従わず、それによって歩むことをしなかったからだ。」 9:13 彼らは、そのかたくなな心に従い、また、先祖が彼らに教え込んだようにバアルに従って歩んだ。 9:14 それゆえ、イスラエルの神、万軍の主は言われる。「見よ、わたしはこの民に苦よもぎを食べさせ、毒の水を飲ませる。 9:15 彼らを、彼ら自身も先祖も知らなかった国々の中に散らし、その後から剣を送って彼らを滅ぼし尽くす。」 9:16 万軍の主はこう言われる。事態を見極め、泣き女を招いて、ここに来させよ。巧みな泣き女を迎えにやり、ここに来させよ。 9:17 急がせよ、我々のために嘆きの歌をうたわせよ。我々の目は涙を流し／まぶたは水を滴らせる。 9:18 嘆きの声がシオンから聞こえる。いかに、我々は荒らし尽くされたことか。甚だしく恥を受けたことか。まことに、我々はこの地を捨て／自分の住まいを捨て去った。 9:19 女たちよ、主の言葉を聞け。耳を傾けて、主の口の言葉を受け入れよ。あなたたちの仲間に、嘆きの歌を教え／互いに哀歌を学べ。 9:20 死は窓に這い上がり／城郭の中に入り込む。通りでは幼子を、広場では若者を滅ぼす。 9:21 このように告げよ、と主は言われる。人間のしかばねが野の面を／糞土のように覆っている。刈り入れる者の後ろに落ちて／集める者もない束のように。 9:22 主はこう言われる。知恵ある者は、その知恵を誇るな。力ある者は、その力を誇るな。富ある者は、その富を誇るな。 9:23 むしろ、誇る者は、この事を誇るがよい／目覚めてわたしを知ることを。わたしこそ主。この地に慈しみと正義と恵みの業を行う事／その事をわたしは喜ぶ、と主は言われる。 9:24 見よ、時が来る、と主は言われる。そのとき、わたしは包皮に割礼を受けた者を／ことごとく罰する。 9:25 エジプト、ユダ、エドム／アンモンの人々、モアブ／すべて荒れ野に住み／もみ上げの毛を切っている人々／すなわち割礼のない諸民族をことごとく罰し／また、心に割礼のないイスラエルの家を／すべて罰する。
9:1 Oh, that my head were waters,And my eyes a fountain of tears,That I might weep day and nightFor the slain of the daughter of my people! 9:2 Oh, that I had in the wildernessA lodging place for travelers;That I might leave my people,And go from them!For they are all adulterers,An assembly of treacherous men. 9:3 "And like their bow they have bent their tongues for lies.They are not valiant for the truth on the earth.For they proceed from evil to evil,And they do not know Me," says the Lord. 9:4 "Everyone take heed to his neighbor,And do not trust any brother;For every brother will utterly supplant,And every neighbor will walk with slanderers. 9:5 Everyone will deceive his neighbor,And will not speak the truth;They have taught their tongue to speak lies;They weary themselves to commit iniquity. 9:6 Your dwelling place is in the midst of deceit;Through deceit they refuse to know Me," says the Lord. 9:7 Therefore thus says the Lord of hosts:"Behold, I will refine them and try them;For how shall I deal with the daughter of My people? 9:8 Their tongue is an arrow shot out;It speaks deceit;One speaks peaceably to his neighbor with his mouth,But in his heart he lies in wait. 9:9 Shall I not punish them for these things?" says the Lord."Shall I not avenge Myself on such a nation as this?" 9:10 I will take up a weeping and wailing for the mountains,And for the dwelling places of the wilderness a lamentation,Because they are burned up,So that no one can pass through;Nor can men hear the voice of the cattle.Both the birds of the heavens and the beasts have fled;They are gone. 9:11 "I will make Jerusalem a heap of ruins, a den of jackals.I will make the cities of Judah desolate, without an inhabitant." 9:12 Who is the wise man who may understand this? And who is he to whom the mouth of the Lord has spoken, that he may declare it? Why does the land perish and burn up like a wilderness, so that no one can pass through? 9:13 And the Lord said, "Because they have forsaken My law which I set before them, and have not obeyed My voice, nor walked according to it, 9:14 "but they have walked according to the dictates of their own hearts and after the Baals, which their fathers taught them," 9:15 therefore thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: "Behold, I will feed them, this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink. 9:16 "I will scatter them also among the Gentiles, whom neither they nor their fathers have known. And I will send a sword after them until I have consumed them." 9:17 Thus says the Lord of hosts:"Consider and call for the mourning women,That they may come;And send for skillful wailing women,That they may come. 9:18 Let them make hasteAnd take up a wailing for us,That our eyes may run with tears,And our eyelids gush with water. 9:19 For a voice of wailing is heard from Zion:'How we are plundered!We are greatly ashamed,Because we have forsaken the land,Because we have been cast out of our dwellings.' " 9:20 Yet hear the word of the Lord, O women,And let your ear receive the word of His mouth;Teach your daughters wailing,And everyone her neighbor a lamentation. 9:21 For death has come through our windows,Has entered our palaces,To kill off the children-no longer to be outside!And the young men-no longer on the streets! 9:22 Speak, "Thus says the Lord:'Even the carcasses of men shall fall as refuse on the open field,Like cuttings after the harvester,And no one shall gather them.' " 9:23 Thus says the Lord:"Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom,Let not the mighty man glory in his might,Nor let the rich man glory in his riches; 9:24 But let him who glories glory in this,That he understands and knows Me,That I am the Lord, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth.For in these I delight," says the Lord. 9:25 "Behold, the days are coming," says the Lord, "that I will punish all who are circumcised with the uncircumcised- 9:26 "Egypt, Judah, Edom, the people of Ammon, Moab, and all who are in the farthest corners, who dwell in the wilderness. For all these nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in the heart."
3:18 妻たちよ、主を信じる者にふさわしく、夫に仕えなさい。 3:19 夫たちよ、妻を愛しなさい。つらく当たってはならない。 3:20 子供たち、どんなことについても両親に従いなさい。それは主に喜ばれることです。 3:21 父親たち、子供をいらだたせてはならない。いじけるといけないからです。 3:22 奴隷たち、どんなことについても肉による主人に従いなさい。人にへつらおうとしてうわべだけで仕えず、主を畏れつつ、真心を込めて従いなさい。 3:23 何をするにも、人に対してではなく、主に対してするように、心から行いなさい。 3:24 あなたがたは、御国を受け継ぐという報いを主から受けることを知っています。あなたがたは主キリストに仕えているのです。 3:25 不義を行う者は、その不義の報いを受けるでしょう。そこには分け隔てはありません。
4:1 主人たち、奴隷を正しく、公平に扱いなさい。知ってのとおり、あなたがたにも主人が天におられるのです。
4:2 目を覚まして感謝を込め、ひたすら祈りなさい。 4:3 同時にわたしたちのためにも祈ってください。神が御言葉のために門を開いてくださり、わたしたちがキリストの秘められた計画を語ることができるように。このために、わたしは牢につながれています。 4:4 わたしがしかるべく語って、この計画を明らかにできるように祈ってください。 4:5 時をよく用い、外部の人に対して賢くふるまいなさい。 4:6 いつも、塩で味付けされた快い言葉で語りなさい。そうすれば、一人一人にどう答えるべきかが分かるでしょう。
3:18 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. 3:19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them. 3:20 Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord. 3:21 Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged. 3:22 Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God. 3:23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, 3:24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. 3:25 But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done, and there is no partiality.
4:1 Masters, give your bondservants what is just and fair, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven. 4:2 Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; 4:3 meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains, 4:4 that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak. 4:5 Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. 4:6 Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.
