18:1 主からエレミヤに臨んだ言葉。 18:2 「立って、陶工の家に下って行け。そこでわたしの言葉をあなたに聞かせよう。」 18:3 わたしは陶工の家に下って行った。彼はろくろを使って仕事をしていた。 18:4 陶工は粘土で一つの器を作っても、気に入らなければ自分の手で壊し、それを作り直すのであった。 18:5 そのとき主の言葉がわたしに臨んだ。 18:6 「イスラエルの家よ、この陶工がしたように、わたしもお前たちに対してなしえないと言うのか、と主は言われる。見よ、粘土が陶工の手の中にあるように、イスラエルの家よ、お前たちはわたしの手の中にある。 18:7 あるとき、わたしは一つの民や王国を断罪して、抜き、壊し、滅ぼすが、 18:8 もし、断罪したその民が、悪を悔いるならば、わたしはその民に災いをくだそうとしたことを思いとどまる。 18:9 またあるときは、一つの民や王国を建て、また植えると約束するが、 18:10 わたしの目に悪とされることを行い、わたしの声に聞き従わないなら、彼らに幸いを与えようとしたことを思い直す。」 18:11 今、ユダの人々とエルサレムの住民に言うがよい。「主はこう言われる。見よ、わたしはお前たちに災いを備え、災いを計画している。お前たちは皆、悪の道から立ち帰り、お前たちの道と行いを正せ。」 18:12 彼らは言った。「それは無駄です。我々は我々の思いどおりにし、おのおのかたくなな悪い心のままにふるまいたいのだから。」 18:13 それゆえ、主はこう言われる。「国々に尋ねて見よ。誰がこのようなことを聞いたであろうか。おとめイスラエルはおぞましいことをした。 18:14 シャダイの岩壁から／レバノンの雪が消え去るだろうか。遠くから流れる冷たい水が涸れることがあろうか。 18:15 しかし、わたしの民はわたしを忘れ／むなしいものに香をたいた。彼らは自分たちの道、昔からの道につまずき／整えられていない、不確かな道を歩んだ。 18:16 わたしは彼らの地を恐怖の的とし／いつまでも嘲られるものとする。通りかかる者は皆、おののき、頭を振る。 18:17 東風のように、わたしは彼らを敵の前に散らす。災いの日に／わたしは彼らに背を向け、顔を向けない。」

18:1 The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying: 18:2 "Arise and go down to the potter's house, and there I will cause you to hear My words." 18:3 Then I went down to the potter's house, and there he was, making something at the wheel. 18:4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make. 18:5 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: 18:6 "O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?" says the Lord. "Look, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel! 18:7 "The instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, to pull down, and to destroy it, 18:8 "if that nation against whom I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I thought to bring upon it. 18:9 "And the instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it, 18:10 "if it does evil in My sight so that it does not obey My voice, then I will relent concerning the good with which I said I would benefit it. 18:11 "Now therefore, speak to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying, 'Thus says the Lord: "Behold, I am fashioning a disaster and devising a plan against you. Return now every one from his evil way, and make your ways and your doings good." ' " 18:12 And they said, "That is hopeless! So we will walk according to our own plans, and we will every one obey the dictates of his evil heart." 18:13 Therefore thus says the Lord:"Ask now among the Gentiles,Who has heard such things?The virgin of Israel has done a very horrible thing. 18:14 Will a man leave the snow water of Lebanon,Which comes from the rock of the field?Will the cold flowing waters be forsaken for strange waters? 18:15 "Because My people have forgotten Me,They have burned incense to worthless idols.And they have caused themselves to stumble in their ways,From the ancient paths,To walk in pathways and not on a highway, 18:16 To make their land desolate and a perpetual hissing;Everyone who passes by it will be astonishedAnd shake his head. 18:17 I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy;I will show them the back and not the faceIn the day of their calamity." 18:18 Then they said, "Come and let us devise plans against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come and let us attack him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words." 18:19 Give heed to me, O Lord,And listen to the voice of those who contend with me! 18:20 Shall evil be repaid for good?For they have dug a pit for my life.Remember that I stood before YouTo speak good for them,To turn away Your wrath from them. 18:21 Therefore deliver up their children to the famine,And pour out their bloodBy the force of the sword;Let their wives become widowsAnd bereaved of their children.Let their men be put to death,Their young men be slainBy the sword in battle. 18:22 Let a cry be heard from their houses,When You bring a troop suddenly upon them;For they have dug a pit to take me,And hidden snares for my feet. 18:23 Yet, Lord, You know all their counselWhich is against me, to slay me.Provide no atonement for their iniquity,Nor blot out their sin from Your sight;But let them be overthrown before You.Deal thus with themIn the time of Your anger.
5:1 兄弟たち、その時と時期についてあなたがたには書き記す必要はありません。 5:2 盗人が夜やって来るように、主の日は来るということを、あなたがた自身よく知っているからです。 5:3 人々が「無事だ。安全だ」と言っているそのやさきに、突然、破滅が襲うのです。ちょうど妊婦に産みの苦しみがやって来るのと同じで、決してそれから逃れられません。 5:4 しかし、兄弟たち、あなたがたは暗闇の中にいるのではありません。ですから、主の日が、盗人のように突然あなたがたを襲うことはないのです。 5:5 あなたがたはすべて光の子、昼の子だからです。わたしたちは、夜にも暗闇にも属していません。 5:6 従って、ほかの人々のように眠っていないで、目を覚まし、身を慎んでいましょう。 5:7 眠る者は夜眠り、酒に酔う者は夜酔います。 5:8 しかし、わたしたちは昼に属していますから、信仰と愛を胸当てとして着け、救いの希望を兜としてかぶり、身を慎んでいましょう。 5:9 神は、わたしたちを怒りに定められたのではなく、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストによる救いにあずからせるように定められたのです。 5:10 主は、わたしたちのために死なれましたが、それは、わたしたちが、目覚めていても眠っていても、主と共に生きるようになるためです。 5:11 ですから、あなたがたは、現にそうしているように、励まし合い、お互いの向上に心がけなさい。
5:1 But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. 5:2 For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. 5:3 For when they say, "Peace and safety!" then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. 5:4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. 5:5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. 5:6 Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. 5:7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. 5:8 But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. 5:9 For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 5:10 who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him. 5:11 Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.
