44:1 エジプトのミグドル、タフパンヘス、メンフィスならびに上エジプト地方に住む、ユダの人々に対する言葉がエレミヤに臨んだ。 44:2 「イスラエルの神、万軍の主はこう言われる。エルサレムとユダのすべての町にわたしがくだしたあらゆる災いをお前たちは見た。これらの町々は今や廃虚と化し、住む者もない。 44:3 これは、彼らが悪を行ってわたしを怒らせたためである。彼らは自ら――お前たちも父祖たちも――知らなかった異教の神々のもとへ行って香をたき、礼拝した。 44:4 わたしは、わが僕である預言者たちをお前たちのところへ繰り返し派遣して、わたしが憎むこの忌まわしいことを行ってはならないと命じた。 44:5 しかし、彼らは聞かず、耳を傾けず、悪を改めず、異教の神々に香をたくことをやめなかった。 44:6 そこでわたしの怒りと憤りがお前たちにふりかかり、ユダの町々とエルサレムの巷で燃え上がったので、今日のように荒れ果てて廃虚と化した。 44:7 そこで今、イスラエルの神、万軍の神である主はこう言われる。なぜ、お前たちは自分の身にこのように大きな悪を行い、男、女、子供、乳飲み子までユダの国から絶たれてひとりも残らないようにするのか。 44:8 何故、お前たちは移って寄留しているエジプトで、自分の手で偶像を造り、異教の神々に香をたき、わたしを怒らせ、自分を滅ぼし、世界のあらゆる国々で、ののしりと恥辱の的となるのか。 44:9 ユダの国とエルサレムの巷で行われたお前たちの父祖の悪、ユダの王と王妃たちの悪、また、お前たち自身と妻たちの悪を忘れたのか。 44:10 今日に至るまで、だれひとり悔いて、神を畏れようとはせず、またわたしがお前たちと父祖たちに授けた律法と掟に従って歩もうとはしなかった。 44:11 それゆえ、イスラエルの神、万軍の主はこう言われる。わたしは、必ずお前たちに災いをくだし、ユダをことごとく滅ぼす。 44:12 ユダに残っている者で、あくまでエジプトへ行って寄留しようとする人々をわたしは取り除く。彼らはひとり残らずエジプトの地で滅びる。彼らは剣と飢饉で倒れ、身分の上下を問わず、剣によって滅ぼされ、飢饉で死に絶え、呪い、恐怖、ののしり、恥辱の的となる。 44:13 既にエルサレムを剣、飢饉、疫病をもって罰したように、わたしはエジプトに住む者を罰する。 44:14 エジプトの地へ移って寄留しているユダの残留者には、難を免れ生き残り、ユダの地に帰りうる者はひとりもない。彼らは再びそこに帰って住むことを切望しているが、少数の難を免れた者を除けば、だれも帰ることはできない。」 44:15 すると、自分たちの妻が異教の神々に香をたいているのを知っている男たち、そこに多く集まって居合わせていた女たち、更にはエジプトの上エジプトに住む人々がこぞってエレミヤに反論して言った。 44:16 「あなたが主の名を借りて我々に語った言葉に聞き従う者はない。 44:17 我々は誓ったとおり必ず行い、天の女王に香をたき、ぶどう酒を注いで献げ物とする。我々は、昔から父祖たちも歴代の王も高官たちも、ユダの町々とエルサレムの巷でそうしてきたのだ。我々は食物に満ち足り、豊かで、災いを見ることはなかった。 44:18 ところが、天の女王に香をたくのをやめ、ぶどう酒を注いでささげなくなって以来、我々はすべてのものに欠乏し、剣と飢饉によって滅亡の状態に陥った。 44:19 また、女たちは、『わたしたちが天の女王に香をたき、ぶどう酒を注いでささげていたとき、天の女王の像をかたどったパンを供え、ぶどう酒を注いでささげたのは、夫も承知のうえのことではなかったでしょうか』と言った。」 44:20 そこで、エレミヤは、男女を問わず、彼に反論したすべての者に向かって、次のように言った。 44:21 「お前たちは、父祖たちや歴代の王と高官、国の民と同様、ユダの町々やエルサレムの巷で香をたいたが、そのことを主が覚えておられず、心に留めておられないことがありえようか。 44:22 主は、お前たちが行った悪行や忌むべきことをもはや忍ぶことはおできにならなかった。だからお前たちの国は今日のように荒れ果てて廃虚と化し、ののしりの的となり、住む人もいなくなったのだ。 44:23 お前たちが香をたき、主に罪を犯し、主の声に聞き従わず、律法と掟と勧めに従って歩まなかったために、今日のようにこの災いが臨んだのだ。」 44:24 エレミヤは一同と女たちに向かって言った。「エジプトにいるユダのすべての人よ、主の言葉を聞け。 44:25 イスラエルの神、万軍の主はこう言われる。お前たちは、妻たちと共に口で約束した事は手で実行する、我々が天の女王に香をたき、ぶどう酒を注いでささげると誓った以上、必ず誓いを果たす、と言っている。お前たちの誓いを果たし、誓いを必ず実行するがよい。 44:26 それゆえ、エジプトに住むユダのすべての人よ、主の言葉を聞け。わたしはわが大いなる名にかけて誓う、と主は言われる。エジプト全土のユダの人々の中に、『神である主は生きておられる』と言って、わたしの名を口に唱えて誓う人はひとりもなくなる。 44:27 見よ、わたしは彼らに災いをくだそうとして見張っている。幸いを与えるためではない。エジプトにいるユダの人々は、ひとり残らず剣と飢饉に襲われて滅びる。 44:28 剣を逃れてエジプトの地からユダの国へ帰還する者の数はまことにわずかである。そのときエジプトへ移って寄留したユダの残留者はすべて、わたしの言葉か、彼らの言葉か、どちらが本当であったかを悟るであろう。 44:29 このことこそ、わたしがこの場所でお前たちを罰したことのしるしとなるであろう、と主は言われる。そしてお前たちに災いを告げたわたしの言葉が実現したことを知るようになる。 44:30 主はこう言われる。わたしは、エジプトの王であるファラオ、ホフラを、その命を求める敵の手に渡す。ちょうどユダの王ゼデキヤを、その命を求める敵、バビロンの王ネブカドレツァルの手に渡したように。」
45:1 ユダの王ヨシヤの子ヨヤキムの第四年に、ネリヤの子バルクは、預言者エレミヤの口述に従ってこれらの言葉を巻物に書き記した。そのとき、エレミヤは次のように語った。 45:2 「バルクよ、イスラエルの神、主は、あなたについてこう言われる。 45:3 あなたは、かつてこう言った。『ああ、災いだ。主は、わたしの苦しみに悲しみを加えられた。わたしは疲れ果てて呻き、安らぎを得ない。』 45:4 バルクにこう言いなさい。主はこう言われる。わたしは建てたものを破壊し、植えたものを抜く。全世界をこのようにする。 45:5 あなたは自分に何か大きなことを期待しているのか。そのような期待を抱いてはならない。なぜなら、わたしは生けるものすべてに災いをくだそうとしているからだ、と主は言われる。ただ、あなたの命だけは、どこへ行っても守り、あなたに与える。」
44:1 The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews who dwell in the land of Egypt, who dwell at Migdol, at Tahpanhes, at Noph, and in the country of Pathros, saying, 44:2 "Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: 'You have seen all the calamity that I have brought on Jerusalem and on all the cities of Judah; and behold, this day they are a desolation, and no one dwells in them, 44:3 'because of their wickedness which they have committed to provoke Me to anger, in that they went to burn incense and to serve other gods whom they did not know, they nor you nor your fathers. 44:4 'However I have sent to you all My servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, saying, "Oh, do not do this abominable thing that I hate!" 44:5 'But they did not listen or incline their ear to turn from their wickedness, to burn no incense to other gods. 44:6 'So My fury and My anger were poured out and kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are wasted and desolate, as it is this day.' 44:7 "Now therefore, thus says the Lord, the God of hosts, the God of Israel: 'Why do you commit this great evil against yourselves, to cut off from you man and woman, child and infant, out of Judah, leaving none to remain, 44:8 'in that you provoke Me to wrath with the works of your hands, burning incense to other gods in the land of Egypt where you have gone to dwell, that you may cut yourselves off and be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth? 44:9 'Have you forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, the wickedness of the kings of Judah, the wickedness of their wives, your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives, which they committed in the land of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? 44:10 'They have not been humbled, to this day, nor have they feared; they have not walked in My law or in My statutes that I set before you and your fathers.' 44:11 "Therefore thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: 'Behold, I will set My face against you for catastrophe and for cutting off all Judah. 44:12 'And I will take the remnant of Judah who have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to dwell there, and they shall all be consumed and fall in the land of Egypt. They shall be consumed by the sword and by famine. They shall die, from the least to the greatest, by the sword and by famine; and they shall be an oath, an astonishment, a curse and a reproach! 44:13 'For I will punish those who dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence, 44:14 'so that none of the remnant of Judah who have gone into the land of Egypt to dwell there shall escape or survive, lest they return to the land of Judah, to which they desire to return and dwell. For none shall return except those who escape.' " 44:15 Then all the men who knew that their wives had burned incense to other gods, with all the women who stood by, a great multitude, and all the people who dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying: 44:16 "As for the word that you have spoken to us in the name of the Lord, we will not listen to you! 44:17 "But we will certainly do whatever has gone out of our own mouth, to burn incense to the queen of heaven and pour out drink offerings to her, as we have done, we and our fathers, our kings and our princes, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. For then we had plenty of food, were well-off, and saw no trouble. 44:18 "But since we stopped burning incense to the queen of heaven and pouring out drink offerings to her, we have lacked everything and have been consumed by the sword and by famine." 44:19 The women also said, "And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven and poured out drink offerings to her, did we make cakes for her, to worship her, and pour out drink offerings to her without our husbands' permission?" 44:20 Then Jeremiah spoke to all the people-the men, the women, and all the people who had given him that answer-saying: 44:21 "The incense that you burned in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, you and your fathers, your kings and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the Lord remember them, and did it not come into His mind? 44:22 "So the Lord could no longer bear it, because of the evil of your doings and because of the abominations which you committed. Therefore your land is a desolation, an astonishment, a curse, and without an inhabitant, as it is this day. 44:23 "Because you have burned incense and because you have sinned against the Lord, and have not obeyed the voice of the Lord or walked in His law, in His statutes or in His testimonies, therefore this calamity has happened to you, as at this day." 44:24 Moreover Jeremiah said to all the people and to all the women, "Hear the word of the Lord, all Judah who are in the land of Egypt! 44:25 "Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, saying: 'You and your wives have spoken with your mouths and fulfilled with your hands, saying, "We will surely keep our vows that we have made, to burn incense to the queen of heaven and pour out drink offerings to her." You will surely keep your vows and perform your vows!' 44:26 "Therefore hear the word of the Lord, all Judah who dwell in the land of Egypt: 'Behold, I have sworn by My great name,' says the Lord, 'that My name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, "The Lord God lives." 44:27 'Behold, I will watch over them for adversity and not for good. And all the men of Judah who are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by famine, until there is an end to them. 44:28 'Yet a small number who escape the sword shall return from the land of Egypt to the land of Judah; and all the remnant of Judah, who have gone to the land of Egypt to dwell there, shall know whose words will stand, Mine or theirs. 44:29 'And this shall be a sign to you,' says the Lord, 'that I will punish you in this place, that you may know that My words will surely stand against you for adversity.' 44:30 "Thus says the Lord: 'Behold, I will give Pharaoh Hophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies and into the hand of those who seek his life, as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, his enemy who sought his life.' "
45:1 The word that Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch the son of Neriah, when he had written these words in a book at the instruction of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying, 45:2 "Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, to you, O Baruch: 45:3 'You said, "Woe is me now! For the Lord has added grief to my sorrow. I fainted in my sighing, and I find no rest." ' 45:4 "Thus you shall say to him, 'Thus says the Lord: "Behold, what I have built I will break down, and what I have planted I will pluck up, that is, this whole land. 45:5 "And do you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them; for behold, I will bring adversity on all flesh," says the Lord. "But I will give your life to you as a prize in all places, wherever you go." ' "

3:1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 3:2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3:3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 3:4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 3:5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 3:6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 3:7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 3:8 Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; 3:9 but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.
