14:1 そのころ、ヤロブアムの息子アビヤが病気になった。 14:2 ヤロブアムは妻に言った。「立って、ヤロブアムの妻だと知られないように姿を変え、シロに行ってくれ。そこには、わたしがこの民の王になると告げてくれた預言者アヒヤがいる。 14:3 パン十個と菓子、それに蜜を一瓶持って彼のもとに行け。彼なら幼い子に何が起こるか教えてくれるだろう。」 14:4 ヤロブアムの妻は言われたとおりにした。彼女は立ってシロへ行き、アヒヤの家に着いた。アヒヤは老齢のために目がかすみ、見ることができなくなっていたが、 14:5 主はアヒヤにこう告げておられた。「見よ、ヤロブアムの妻が来て、息子のことをあなたに尋ねる。息子は病気なのだ。あなたはこれこれしかじかと彼女に語れ。彼女は変装してやって来る。」 14:6 アヒヤは戸口に着いた彼女の足音を聞いて言った。「ヤロブアムの妻よ、入りなさい。なぜそのように変装したのか。わたしはあなたにつらいことを告げるように命じられている。 14:7 行ってヤロブアムに言いなさい。『イスラエルの神、主はこう言われる。わたしはあなたを民の中から選び出して高め、わが民イスラエルの指導者とし、 14:8 ダビデの家から王国を裂いて取り上げ、あなたに与えた。しかし、わが僕ダビデがわたしの戒めを守り、心を尽くしてわたしに従って歩み、わたしの目にかなう正しいことだけを行ったのとは異なり、 14:9 あなたはこれまでのだれよりも悪を行い、行って自分のために他の神々や、鋳物の像を造り、わたしを怒らせ、わたしを後ろに捨て去った。 14:10 それゆえ、わたしはヤロブアムの家に災いをもたらす。ヤロブアムに属する者は、イスラエルにおいて縛られている者も、解き放たれている者も、男子であれば、すべて滅ぼし、人が汚物を徹底的にぬぐい去るように、わたしはヤロブアムの家に残る者をぬぐい去る。 14:11 ヤロブアムに属する者は、町で死ねば犬に食われ、野で死ねば空の鳥の餌食になる。まことに主はこう告げられた。』 14:12 あなたは立って家に帰るがよい。あなたが足を町に踏み入れるとき、あなたの子は死ぬ。 14:13 イスラエルのすべての人々はこの子を弔い、葬るだろう。まことにヤロブアムに属する者で墓に入るのは、この子一人であろう。ヤロブアムの家の中でイスラエルの神、主にいくらか良いとされるのはこの子だけだからである。 14:14 主は御自分のためにヤロブアムの家を断つ王をイスラエルの上に立てられる。今日にも、いや、今にもそうされる。 14:15 主はイスラエルを打って水辺に揺れる葦のようにし、その先祖にお与えになった地からイスラエルを引き抜き、ユーフラテスのかなたに散らされる。彼らがアシェラ像を造って、主の怒りを招いたからである。 14:16 主は、ヤロブアムが自ら犯し、またイスラエルに犯させた罪のゆえに、イスラエルを引き渡される。」 14:17 ヤロブアムの妻は立ち去り、ティルツァに戻った。彼女が家の敷居をまたいだとき、幼いその子は死んだ。 14:18 イスラエルのすべての人々は主がその僕、預言者アヒヤによって告げられた言葉のとおり、彼を葬り、弔った。 14:19 ヤロブアムの他の事績、その戦争と統治については、『イスラエルの王の歴代誌』に記されている。 14:20 ヤロブアムが王であった期間は二十二年であった。彼は先祖と共に眠りにつき、その子ナダブがヤロブアムに代わって王となった。

14:1 At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam became sick. 14:2 And Jeroboam said to his wife, "Please arise, and disguise yourself, that they may not recognize you as the wife of Jeroboam, and go to Shiloh. Indeed, Ahijah the prophet is there, who told me that I would be king over this people. 14:3 "Also take with you ten loaves, some cakes, and a jar of honey, and go to him; he will tell you what will become of the child." 14:4 And Jeroboam's wife did so; she arose and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Ahijah. But Ahijah could not see, for his eyes were glazed by reason of his age. 14:5 Now the Lord had said to Ahijah, "Here is the wife of Jeroboam, coming to ask you something about her son, for he is sick. Thus and thus you shall say to her; for it will be, when she comes in, that she will pretend to be another woman." 14:6 And so it was, when Ahijah heard the sound of her footsteps as she came through the door, he said, "Come in, wife of Jeroboam. Why do you pretend to be another person? For I have been sent to you with bad news. 14:7 "Go, tell Jeroboam, 'Thus says the Lord God of Israel: "Because I exalted you from among the people, and made you ruler over My people Israel, 14:8 "and tore the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it to you; and yet you have not been as My servant David, who kept My commandments and who followed Me with all his heart, to do only what was right in My eyes; 14:9 "but you have done more evil than all who were before you, for you have gone and made for yourself other gods and molded images to provoke Me to anger, and have cast Me behind your back- 14:10 "therefore behold! I will bring disaster on the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam every male in Israel, bond and free; I will take away the remnant of the house of Jeroboam, as one takes away refuse until it is all gone. 14:11 "The dogs shall eat whoever belongs to Jeroboam and dies in the city, and the birds of the air shall eat whoever dies in the field; for the Lord has spoken!" ' 14:12 "Arise therefore, go to your own house. When your feet enter the city, the child shall die. 14:13 "And all Israel shall mourn for him and bury him, for he is the only one of Jeroboam who shall come to the grave, because in him there is found something good toward the Lord God of Israel in the house of Jeroboam. 14:14 "Moreover the Lord will raise up for Himself a king over Israel who shall cut off the house of Jeroboam; this is the day. What? Even now! 14:15 "For the Lord will strike Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water. He will uproot Israel from this good land which He gave to their fathers, and will scatter them beyond the River, because they have made their wooden images, provoking the Lord to anger. 14:16 "And He will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, who sinned and who made Israel sin." 14:17 Then Jeroboam's wife arose and departed, and came to Tirzah. When she came to the threshold of the house, the child died. 14:18 And they buried him; and all Israel mourned for him, according to the word of the Lord which He spoke through His servant Ahijah the prophet. 14:19 Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he made war and how he reigned, indeed they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel. 14:20 The period that Jeroboam reigned was twenty-two years. So he rested with his fathers. Then Nadab his son reigned in his place. 14:21 And Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he became king. He reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the Lord had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put His name there. His mother's name was Naamah, an Ammonitess. 14:22 Now Judah did evil in the sight of the Lord, and they provoked Him to jealousy with their sins which they committed, more than all that their fathers had done. 14:23 For they also built for themselves high places, sacred pillars, and wooden images on every high hill and under every green tree. 14:24 And there were also perverted persons in the land. They did according to all the abominations of the nations which the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel. 14:25 It happened in the fifth year of King Rehoboam that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem. 14:26 And he took away the treasures of the house of the Lord and the treasures of the king's house; he took away everything. He also took away all the gold shields which Solomon had made. 14:27 Then King Rehoboam made bronze shields in their place, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, who guarded the doorway of the king's house. 14:28 And whenever the king entered the house of the Lord, the guards carried them, then brought them back into the guardroom. 14:29 Now the rest of the acts of Rehoboam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? 14:30 And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all their days. 14:31 So Rehoboam rested with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the City of David. His mother's name was Naamah, an Ammonitess. Then Abijam his son reigned in his place.

7:45 さて、祭司長たちやファリサイ派の人々は、下役たちが戻って来たとき、「どうして、あの男を連れて来なかったのか」と言った。 7:46 下役たちは、「今まで、あの人のように話した人はいません」と答えた。 7:47 すると、ファリサイ派の人々は言った。「お前たちまでも惑わされたのか。 7:48 議員やファリサイ派の人々の中に、あの男を信じた者がいるだろうか。 7:49 だが、律法を知らないこの群衆は、呪われている。」 7:50 彼らの中の一人で、以前イエスを訪ねたことのあるニコデモが言った。 7:51 「我々の律法によれば、まず本人から事情を聞き、何をしたかを確かめたうえでなければ、判決を下してはならないことになっているではないか。」 7:52 彼らは答えて言った。「あなたもガリラヤ出身なのか。よく調べてみなさい。ガリラヤからは預言者の出ないことが分かる。」
7:40 Therefore many from the crowd, when they heard this saying, said, "Truly this is the Prophet." 7:41 Others said, "This is the Christ." But some said, "Will the Christ come out of Galilee? 7:42 "Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the seed of David and from the town of Bethlehem, where David was?" 7:43 So there was a division among the people because of Him. 7:44 Now some of them wanted to take Him, but no one laid hands on Him. 7:45 Then the officers came to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, "Why have you not brought Him?" 7:46 The officers answered, "No man ever spoke like this Man!" 7:47 Then the Pharisees answered them, "Are you also deceived? 7:48 "Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed in Him? 7:49 "But this crowd that does not know the law is accursed." 7:50 Nicodemus (he who came to Jesus by night, being one of them) said to them, 7:51 "Does our law judge a man before it hears him and knows what he is doing?" 7:52 They answered and said to him, "Are you also from Galilee? Search and look, for no prophet has arisen out of Galilee."
