17:1 And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, "As the Lord God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except at my word." 17:2 Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, 17:3 "Get away from here and turn eastward, and hide by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. 17:4 "And it will be that you shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there." 17:5 So he went and did according to the word of the Lord, for he went and stayed by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. 17:6 The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the brook. 17:7 And it happened after a while that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land. 17:8 Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, 17:9 "Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. See, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you." 17:10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, indeed a widow was there gathering sticks. And he called to her and said, "Please bring me a little water in a cup, that I may drink." 17:11 And as she was going to get it, he called to her and said, "Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand." 17:12 So she said, "As the Lord your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die." 17:13 And Elijah said to her, "Do not fear; go and do as you have said, but make me a small cake from it first, and bring it to me; and afterward make some for yourself and your son. 17:14 "For thus says the Lord God of Israel: 'The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day the Lord sends rain on the earth.' " 17:15 So she went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days. 17:16 The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the Lord which He spoke by Elijah. 17:17 Now it happened after these things that the son of the woman who owned the house became sick. And his sickness was so serious that there was no breath left in him. 17:18 So she said to Elijah, "What have I to do with you, O man of God? Have you come to me to bring my sin to remembrance, and to kill my son?" 17:19 And he said to her, "Give me your son." So he took him out of her arms and carried him to the upper room where he was staying, and laid him on his own bed. 17:20 Then he cried out to the Lord and said, "O Lord my God, have You also brought tragedy on the widow with whom I lodge, by killing her son?" 17:21 And he stretched himself out on the child three times, and cried out to the Lord and said, "O Lord my God, I pray, let this child's soul come back to him." 17:22 Then the Lord heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came back to him, and he revived. 17:23 And Elijah took the child and brought him down from the upper room into the house, and gave him to his mother. And Elijah said, "See, your son lives!" 17:24 Then the woman said to Elijah, "Now by this I know that you are a man of God, and that the word of the Lord in your mouth is the truth."

8:48 ユダヤ人たちが、「あなたはサマリア人で悪霊に取りつかれていると、我々が言うのも当然ではないか」と言い返すと、 8:49 イエスはお答えになった。「わたしは悪霊に取りつかれてはいない。わたしは父を重んじているのに、あなたたちはわたしを重んじない。 8:50 わたしは、自分の栄光は求めていない。わたしの栄光を求め、裁きをなさる方が、ほかにおられる。 8:51 はっきり言っておく。わたしの言葉を守るなら、その人は決して死ぬことがない。」 8:52 ユダヤ人たちは言った。「あなたが悪霊に取りつかれていることが、今はっきりした。アブラハムは死んだし、預言者たちも死んだ。ところが、あなたは、『わたしの言葉を守るなら、その人は決して死を味わうことがない』と言う。 8:53 わたしたちの父アブラハムよりも、あなたは偉大なのか。彼は死んだではないか。預言者たちも死んだ。いったい、あなたは自分を何者だと思っているのか。」 8:54 イエスはお答えになった。「わたしが自分自身のために栄光を求めようとしているのであれば、わたしの栄光はむなしい。わたしに栄光を与えてくださるのはわたしの父であって、あなたたちはこの方について、『我々の神だ』と言っている。 8:55 あなたたちはその方を知らないが、わたしは知っている。わたしがその方を知らないと言えば、あなたたちと同じくわたしも偽り者になる。しかし、わたしはその方を知っており、その言葉を守っている。 8:56 あなたたちの父アブラハムは、わたしの日を見るのを楽しみにしていた。そして、それを見て、喜んだのである。」 8:57 ユダヤ人たちが、「あなたは、まだ五十歳にもならないのに、アブラハムを見たのか」と言うと、 8:58 イエスは言われた。「はっきり言っておく。アブラハムが生まれる前から、『わたしはある。』」 8:59 すると、ユダヤ人たちは、石を取り上げ、イエスに投げつけようとした。しかし、イエスは身を隠して、神殿の境内から出て行かれた。
8:31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 8:32 "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." 8:33 They answered Him, "We are Abraham's descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can you say, 'You will be made free'?" 8:34 Jesus answered them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. 8:35 "And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. 8:36 "Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. 8:37 "I know that you are Abraham's descendants, but you seek to kill Me, because My word has no place in you. 8:38 "I speak what I have seen with My Father, and you do what you have seen with your father." 8:39 They answered and said to Him, "Abraham is our father." Jesus said to them, "If you were Abraham's children, you would do the works of Abraham. 8:40 "But now you seek to kill Me, a Man who has told you the truth which I heard from God. Abraham did not do this. 8:41 "You do the deeds of your father." Then they said to Him, "We were not born of fornication; we have one Father-God." 8:42 Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. 8:43 "Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. 8:44 "You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. 8:45 "But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me. 8:46 "Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me? 8:47 "He who is of God hears God's words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God." 8:48 Then the Jews answered and said to Him, "Do we not say rightly that You are a Samaritan and have a demon?" 8:49 Jesus answered, "I do not have a demon; but I honor My Father, and you dishonor Me. 8:50 "And I do not seek My own glory; there is One who seeks and judges. 8:51 "Most assuredly, I say to you, if anyone keeps My word he shall never see death." 8:52 Then the Jews said to Him, "Now we know that You have a demon! Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and You say, 'If anyone keeps My word he shall never taste death.' 8:53 "Are You greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? And the prophets are dead. Whom do You make Yourself out to be?" 8:54 Jesus answered, "If I honor Myself, My honor is nothing. It is My Father who honors Me, of whom you say that He is your God. 8:55 "Yet you have not known Him, but I know Him. And if I say, 'I do not know Him,' I shall be a liar like you; but I do know Him and keep His word. 8:56 "Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad." 8:57 Then the Jews said to Him, "You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?" 8:58 Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM." 8:59 Then they took up stones to throw at Him; but Jesus hid Himself and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.
