4:1 A certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, "Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the Lord. And the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves." 4:2 So Elisha said to her, "What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?" And she said, "Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil." 4:3 Then he said, "Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors-empty vessels; do not gather just a few. 4:4 "And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; then pour it into all those vessels, and set aside the full ones." 4:5 So she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured it out. 4:6 Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, "Bring me another vessel." And he said to her, "There is not another vessel." So the oil ceased. 4:7 Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, "Go, sell the oil and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest." 4:8 Now it happened one day that Elisha went to Shunem, where there was a notable woman, and she persuaded him to eat some food. So it was, as often as he passed by, he would turn in there to eat some food. 4:9 And she said to her husband, "Look now, I know that this is a holy man of God, who passes by us regularly. 4:10 "Please, let us make a small upper room on the wall; and let us put a bed for him there, and a table and a chair and a lampstand; so it will be, whenever he comes to us, he can turn in there." 4:11 And it happened one day that he came there, and he turned in to the upper room and lay down there. 4:12 Then he said to Gehazi his servant, "Call this Shunammite woman." When he had called her, she stood before him. 4:13 And he said to him, "Say now to her, 'Look, you have been concerned for us with all this care. What can I do for you? Do you want me to speak on your behalf to the king or to the commander of the army?' " She answered, "I dwell among my own people." 4:14 So he said, "What then is to be done for her?" And Gehazi answered, "Actually, she has no son, and her husband is old." 4:15 So he said, "Call her." When he had called her, she stood in the doorway. 4:16 Then he said, "About this time next year you shall embrace a son." And she said, "No, my lord. Man of God, do not lie to your maidservant!" 4:17 But the woman conceived, and bore a son when the appointed time had come, of which Elisha had told her. 4:18 And the child grew. Now it happened one day that he went out to his father, to the reapers. 4:19 And he said to his father, "My head, my head!" So he said to a servant, "Carry him to his mother." 4:20 When he had taken him and brought him to his mother, he sat on her knees till noon, and then died. 4:21 And she went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God, shut the door upon him, and went out. 4:22 Then she called to her husband, and said, "Please send me one of the young men and one of the donkeys, that I may run to the man of God and come back." 4:23 So he said, "Why are you going to him today? It is neither the New Moon nor the Sabbath." And she said, "It is well." 4:24 Then she saddled a donkey, and said to her servant, "Drive, and go forward; do not slacken the pace for me unless I tell you." 4:25 And so she departed, and went to the man of God at Mount Carmel. So it was, when the man of God saw her afar off, that he said to his servant Gehazi, "Look, the Shunammite woman!. 4:26 "Please run now to meet her, and say to her, 'Is it well with you? Is it well with your husband? Is it well with the child?' " And she answered, "It is well." 4:27 Now when she came to the man of God at the hill, she caught him by the feet, but Gehazi came near to push her away. But the man of God said, "Let her alone; for her soul is in deep distress, and the Lord has hidden it from me, and has not told me." 4:28 So she said, "Did I ask a son of my lord? Did I not say, 'Do not deceive me'?" 4:29 Then he said to Gehazi, "Get yourself ready, and take my staff in your hand, and be on your way. If you meet anyone, do not greet him; and if anyone greets you, do not answer him; but lay my staff on the face of the child." 4:30 And the mother of the child said, "As the Lord lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you." So he arose and followed her. 4:31 Now Gehazi went on ahead of them, and laid the staff on the face of the child; but there was neither voice nor hearing. Therefore he went back to meet him, and told him, saying, "The child has not awakened." 4:32 When Elisha came into the house, there was the child, lying dead on his bed. 4:33 He went in therefore, shut the door behind the two of them, and prayed to the Lord. 4:34 And he went up and lay on the child, and put his mouth on his mouth, his eyes on his eyes, and his hands on his hands; and he stretched himself out on the child, and the flesh of the child became warm. 4:35 He returned and walked back and forth in the house, and again went up and stretched himself out on him; then the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes. 4:36 And he called Gehazi and said, "Call this Shunammite woman." So he called her. And when she came in to him, he said, "Pick up your son." 4:37 So she went in, fell at his feet, and bowed to the ground; then she picked up her son and went out. 4:38 And Elisha returned to Gilgal, and there was a famine in the land. Now the sons of the prophets were sitting before him; and he said to his servant, "Put on the large pot, and boil stew for the sons of the prophets." 4:39 So one went out into the field to gather herbs, and found a wild vine, and gathered from it a lapful of wild gourds, and came and sliced them into the pot of stew, though they did not know what they were. 4:40 Then they served it to the men to eat. Now it happened, as they were eating the stew, that they cried out and said, "Man of God, there is death in the pot!" And they could not eat it. 4:41 So he said, "Then bring some flour." And he put it into the pot, and said, "Serve it to the people, that they may eat." And there was nothing harmful in the pot. 4:42 Then a man came from Baal Shalisha, and brought the man of God bread of the firstfruits, twenty loaves of barley bread, and newly ripened grain in his knapsack. And he said, "Give it to the people, that they may eat." 4:43 But his servant said, "What? Shall I set this before one hundred men?" He said again, "Give it to the people, that they may eat; for thus says the Lord: 'They shall eat and have some left over.' " 4:44 So he set it before them; and they ate and had some left over, according to the word of the Lord.
12:1 過越祭の六日前に、イエスはベタニアに行かれた。そこには、イエスが死者の中からよみがえらせたラザロがいた。 12:2 イエスのためにそこで夕食が用意され、マルタは給仕をしていた。ラザロは、イエスと共に食事の席に着いた人々の中にいた。 12:3 そのとき、マリアが純粋で非常に高価なナルドの香油を一リトラ持って来て、イエスの足に塗り、自分の髪でその足をぬぐった。家は香油の香りでいっぱいになった。 12:4 弟子の一人で、後にイエスを裏切るイスカリオテのユダが言った。 12:5 「なぜ、この香油を三百デナリオンで売って、貧しい人々に施さなかったのか。」 12:6 彼がこう言ったのは、貧しい人々のことを心にかけていたからではない。彼は盗人であって、金入れを預かっていながら、その中身をごまかしていたからである。 12:7 イエスは言われた。「この人のするままにさせておきなさい。わたしの葬りの日のために、それを取って置いたのだから。 12:8 貧しい人々はいつもあなたがたと一緒にいるが、わたしはいつも一緒にいるわけではない。」
12:9 イエスがそこにおられるのを知って、ユダヤ人の大群衆がやって来た。それはイエスだけが目当てではなく、イエスが死者の中からよみがえらせたラザロを見るためでもあった。 12:10 祭司長たちはラザロをも殺そうと謀った。 12:11 多くのユダヤ人がラザロのことで離れて行って、イエスを信じるようになったからである。
12:12 その翌日、祭りに来ていた大勢の群衆は、イエスがエルサレムに来られると聞き、 12:13 なつめやしの枝を持って迎えに出た。そして、叫び続けた。「ホサナ。主の名によって来られる方に、祝福があるように、／イスラエルの王に。」 12:14 イエスはろばの子を見つけて、お乗りになった。次のように書いてあるとおりである。 12:15 「シオンの娘よ、恐れるな。見よ、お前の王がおいでになる、／ろばの子に乗って。」 12:16 弟子たちは最初これらのことが分からなかったが、イエスが栄光を受けられたとき、それがイエスについて書かれたものであり、人々がそのとおりにイエスにしたということを思い出した。 12:17 イエスがラザロを墓から呼び出して、死者の中からよみがえらせたとき一緒にいた群衆は、その証しをしていた。 12:18 群衆がイエスを出迎えたのも、イエスがこのようなしるしをなさったと聞いていたからである。 12:19 そこで、ファリサイ派の人々は互いに言った。「見よ、何をしても無駄だ。世をあげてあの男について行ったではないか。」
12:20 さて、祭りのとき礼拝するためにエルサレムに上って来た人々の中に、何人かのギリシア人がいた。 12:21 彼らは、ガリラヤのベトサイダ出身のフィリポのもとへ来て、「お願いです。イエスにお目にかかりたいのです」と頼んだ。 12:22 フィリポは行ってアンデレに話し、アンデレとフィリポは行って、イエスに話した。 12:23 イエスはこうお答えになった。「人の子が栄光を受ける時が来た。 12:24 はっきり言っておく。一粒の麦は、地に落ちて死ななければ、一粒のままである。だが、死ねば、多くの実を結ぶ。 12:25 自分の命を愛する者は、それを失うが、この世で自分の命を憎む人は、それを保って永遠の命に至る。 12:26 わたしに仕えようとする者は、わたしに従え。そうすれば、わたしのいるところに、わたしに仕える者もいることになる。わたしに仕える者がいれば、父はその人を大切にしてくださる。」
12:27 「今、わたしは心騒ぐ。何と言おうか。『父よ、わたしをこの時から救ってください』と言おうか。しかし、わたしはまさにこの時のために来たのだ。 12:28 父よ、御名の栄光を現してください。」すると、天から声が聞こえた。「わたしは既に栄光を現した。再び栄光を現そう。」 12:29 そばにいた群衆は、これを聞いて、「雷が鳴った」と言い、ほかの者たちは「天使がこの人に話しかけたのだ」と言った。 12:30 イエスは答えて言われた。「この声が聞こえたのは、わたしのためではなく、あなたがたのためだ。 12:31 今こそ、この世が裁かれる時。今、この世の支配者が追放される。 12:32 わたしは地上から上げられるとき、すべての人を自分のもとへ引き寄せよう。」 12:33 イエスは、御自分がどのような死を遂げるかを示そうとして、こう言われたのである。 12:34 すると、群衆は言葉を返した。「わたしたちは律法によって、メシアは永遠にいつもおられると聞いていました。それなのに、人の子は上げられなければならない、とどうして言われるのですか。その『人の子』とはだれのことですか。」 12:35 イエスは言われた。「光は、いましばらく、あなたがたの間にある。暗闇に追いつかれないように、光のあるうちに歩きなさい。暗闇の中を歩く者は、自分がどこへ行くのか分からない。 12:36 光の子となるために、光のあるうちに、光を信じなさい。」
12:1 Then, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was who had been dead, whom He had raised from the dead. 12:2 There they made Him a supper; and Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table with Him. 12:3 Then Mary took a pound of very costly oil of spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped His feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil. 12:4 Then one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, who would betray Him, said, 12:5 "Why was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?" 12:6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money box; and he used to take what was put in it. 12:7 But Jesus said, "Let her alone; she has kept this for the day of My burial. 12:8 "For the poor you have with you always, but Me you do not have always." 12:9 Now a great many of the Jews knew that He was there; and they came, not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might also see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead. 12:10 But the chief priests plotted to put Lazarus to death also, 12:11 because on account of him many of the Jews went away and believed in Jesus. 12:12 The next day a great multitude that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, 12:13 took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out:"Hosanna!'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!'The King of Israel!" 12:14 Then Jesus, when He had found a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written: 12:15 "Fear not, daughter of Zion;Behold, your King is coming,Sitting on a donkey's colt." 12:16 His disciples did not understand these things at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about Him and that they had done these things to Him. 12:17 Therefore the people, who were with Him when He called Lazarus out of his tomb and raised him from the dead, bore witness. 12:18 For this reason the people also met Him, because they heard that He had done this sign. 12:19 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, "You see that you are accomplishing nothing. Look, the world has gone after Him!" 12:20 Now there were certain Greeks among those who came up to worship at the feast. 12:21 Then they came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, "Sir, we wish to see Jesus." 12:22 Philip came and told Andrew, and in turn Andrew and Philip told Jesus. 12:23 But Jesus answered them, saying, "The hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified. 12:24 "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. 12:25 "He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 12:26 "If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor. 12:27 "Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? 'Father, save Me from this hour'? But for this purpose I came to this hour. 12:28 "Father, glorify Your name." Then a voice came from heaven, saying, "I have both glorified it and will glorify it again." 12:29 Therefore the people who stood by and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said, "An angel has spoken to Him." 12:30 Jesus answered and said, "This voice did not come because of Me, but for your sake. 12:31 "Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out. 12:32 "And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself." 12:33 This He said, signifying by what death He would die. 12:34 The people answered Him, "We have heard from the law that the Christ remains forever; and how can You say, 'The Son of Man must be lifted up'? Who is this Son of Man?" 12:35 Then Jesus said to them, "A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you; he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going. 12:36 "While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light."
