9:1 シェバの女王はソロモンの名声を聞き、難問をもってソロモンを試そうと、極めて大勢の随員を伴い、香料、多くの金、宝石をらくだに積んでエルサレムに来た。ソロモンのところに来ると、彼女はあらかじめ考えておいたすべての質問を浴びせたが、 9:2 ソロモンはそのすべてに解答を与えた。ソロモンに分からない事、答えられない事は何一つなかった。 9:3 シェバの女王は、ソロモンの知恵と彼の建てた宮殿を目の当たりにし、 9:4 また食卓の料理、居並ぶ彼の家臣、丁重にもてなす給仕たちとその装い、献酌官とその装い、それに王が主の神殿でささげる焼き尽くす献げ物を見て、息も止まるような思いであった。 9:5 女王は王に言った。「わたしが国で、あなたの御事績とあなたのお知恵について聞いていたことは、本当のことでした。 9:6 わたしは、ここに来て、自分の目で見るまでは、人の言うことを信じてはいませんでした。しかし、わたしに知らされていたことは大いなるお知恵の半分にも及ばず、あなたはうわさに聞いていたことをはるかに超えておられます。 9:7 あなたの臣民はなんと幸せなことでしょう。いつもあなたの前に立ってお知恵に接している家臣たちはなんと幸せなことでしょう。 9:8 あなたを王位につけられたあなたの神、主のための王とすることをお望みになったあなたの神、主はたたえられますように。あなたの神はイスラエルを愛して、とこしえに続くものとし、あなたをその上に王として立て、公正と正義を行わせられるからです。」 9:9 彼女は金百二十キカル、非常に多くの香料、宝石を王に贈ったが、このシェバの女王がソロモン王に贈ったような香料はかつてなかった。 9:10 また、オフィルから金を運んで来たヒラムの家臣たちとソロモンの家臣たちは、白檀や宝石も運んで来た。 9:11 王はその白檀で神殿と王宮の床板や、詠唱者のための竪琴や琴を作った。かつてユダの地でだれもこのようなものを見たことはなかった。 9:12 ソロモン王は、シェバの女王が王に贈った物に報いる品々以上に、女王の願うものは何でも望みのままに与えた。こうして女王とその一行は故国に向かって帰って行った。
9:13 ソロモンの歳入は金六百六十六キカル、 9:14 そのほかに隊商や商人の納める税金があり、アラビアのすべての王や地方総督もソロモン王に金銀を納めた。 9:15 ソロモン王は延金の大盾二百を作った。大盾一つにつき用いた延金は六百シェケルであった。 9:16 延金の小盾も三百作った。小盾一つにつき用いた金は三百シェケルであった。王はこれらの盾を「レバノンの森の家」に置いた。 9:17 王は更に象牙の大きな王座を作り、それを純金で覆った。 9:18 王座には六つの段があり、その王座に金の踏み台がつけられていた。また、座席の両側には肘掛けがあり、その脇に二頭の獅子が立っていた。 9:19 六つの段の左右にも十二頭の獅子が立っていた。これほどのものが作られた国はどこにもなかった。 9:20 ソロモン王の杯はすべて金、「レバノンの森の家」の器もすべて純金で出来ていた。ソロモンの時代には、銀は値打ちのないものと見なされていた。 9:21 王の船団はフラムの家臣たちと共にタルシシュへ航海した。三年に一度、タルシシュの船団は、金、銀、象牙、猿、ひひを積んで入港した。 9:22 ソロモン王は世界中の王の中で最も大いなる富と知恵を有し、 9:23 世界のすべての王が、神がソロモンの心にお授けになった知恵を聞くために、彼に拝謁を求めた。 9:24 彼らは、それぞれ贈り物として銀の器、金の器、衣類、武器、香料、馬とらばを毎年携えて来た。 9:25 ソロモンは馬と戦車のための厩舎四千、騎兵一万二千を有した。彼はそれを戦車隊の町々およびエルサレムの王のもとに配置した。 9:26 こうして彼はユーフラテス川からペリシテ人の地方、更にエジプトとの国境に至るまで、諸国の王をすべて支配下に置いた。 9:27 王はエルサレムで、銀を石のように、レバノン杉をシェフェラのいちじく桑のように大量に供給した。 9:28 馬はエジプトをはじめあらゆる国からソロモンのために輸入された。 9:29 ソロモンの他の事績は初期のことも後期のことも、『預言者ナタンの言葉』『シロの人アヒヤの預言』『ネバトの子ヤロブアムに関する先見者イエドの見た幻』に記されている。 9:30 ソロモンは、エルサレムで四十年間全イスラエルを治めた。 9:31 ソロモンは先祖と共に眠りにつき、父ダビデの町に葬られ、その子レハブアムがソロモンに代わって王となった。
9:1 Now when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, she came to Jerusalem to test Solomon with hard questions, having a very great retinue, camels that bore spices, gold in abundance, and precious stones; and when she came to Solomon, she spoke with him about all that was in her heart. 9:2 So Solomon answered all her questions; there was nothing so difficult for Solomon that he could not explain it to her. 9:3 And when the queen of Sheba had seen the wisdom of Solomon, the house that he had built, 9:4 the food on his table, the seating of his servants, the service of his waiters and their apparel, his cupbearers and their apparel, and his entryway by which he went up to the house of the Lord, there was no more spirit in her. 9:5 Then she said to the king: "It was a true report which I heard in my own land about your words and your wisdom. 9:6 "However I did not believe their words until I came and saw with my own eyes; and indeed the half of the greatness of your wisdom was not told me. You exceed the fame of which I heard. 9:7 "Happy are your men and happy are these your servants, who stand continually before you and hear your wisdom! 9:8 "Blessed be the Lord your God, who delighted in you, setting you on His throne to be king for the Lord your God! Because your God has loved Israel, to establish them forever, therefore He made you king over them, to do justice and righteousness." 9:9 And she gave the king one hundred and twenty talents of gold, spices in great abundance, and precious stones; there never were any spices such as those the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon. 9:10 Also, the servants of Hiram and the servants of Solomon, who brought gold from Ophir, brought algum wood and precious stones. 9:11 And the king made walkways of the algum wood for the house of the Lord and for the king's house, also harps and stringed instruments for singers; and there were none such as these seen before in the land of Judah. 9:12 Now King Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all she desired, whatever she asked, much more than she had brought to the king. So she turned and went to her own country, she and her servants. 9:13 The weight of gold that came to Solomon yearly was six hundred and sixty-six talents of gold, 9:14 besides what the traveling merchants and traders brought. And all the kings of Arabia and governors of the country brought gold and silver to Solomon. 9:15 And King Solomon made two hundred large shields of hammered gold; six hundred shekels of hammered gold went into each shield. 9:16 He also made three hundred shields of hammered gold; three hundred shekels of gold went into each shield. The king put them in the House of the Forest of Lebanon. 9:17 Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with pure gold. 9:18 The throne had six steps, with a footstool of gold, which were fastened to the throne; there were armrests on either side of the place of the seat, and two lions stood beside the armrests. 9:19 Twelve lions stood there, one on each side of the six steps; nothing like this had been made for any other kingdom. 9:20 All King Solomon's drinking vessels were gold, and all the vessels of the House of the Forest of Lebanon were pure gold. Not one was silver, for this was accounted as nothing in the days of Solomon. 9:21 For the king's ships went to Tarshish with the servants of Hiram. Once every three years the merchant ships came, bringing gold, silver, ivory, apes, and monkeys. 9:22 So King Solomon surpassed all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom. 9:23 And all the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart. 9:24 Each man brought his present: articles of silver and gold, garments, armor, spices, horses, and mules, at a set rate year by year. 9:25 Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen whom he stationed in the chariot cities and with the king at Jerusalem. 9:26 So he reigned over all the kings from the River to the land of the Philistines, as far as the border of Egypt. 9:27 The king made silver as common in Jerusalem as stones, and he made cedar trees as abundant as the sycamores which are in the lowland. 9:28 And they brought horses to Solomon from Egypt and from all lands. 9:29 Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, first and last, are they not written in the book of Nathan the prophet, in the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the visions of Iddo the seer concerning Jeroboam the son of Nebat? 9:30 Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years. 9:31 Then Solomon rested with his fathers, and was buried in the City of David his father. And Rehoboam his son reigned in his place.
127:1 【都に上る歌。ソロモンの詩。】主御自身が建ててくださるのでなければ／家を建てる人の労苦はむなしい。主御自身が守ってくださるのでなければ／町を守る人が目覚めているのもむなしい。 127:2 朝早く起き、夜おそく休み／焦慮してパンを食べる人よ／それは、むなしいことではないか／主は愛する者に眠りをお与えになるのだから。 127:3 見よ、子らは主からいただく嗣業。胎の実りは報い。 127:4 若くて生んだ子らは、勇士の手の中の矢。 127:5 いかに幸いなことか／矢筒をこの矢で満たす人は。町の門で敵と論争するときも／恥をこうむることはない。
127:1 Unless the Lord builds the house,They labor in vain who build it;Unless the Lord guards the city,The watchman stays awake in vain. 127:2 It is vain for you to rise up early,To sit up late,To eat the bread of sorrows;For so He gives His beloved sleep. 127:3 Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,The fruit of the womb is a reward. 127:4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,So are the children of one's youth. 127:5 Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them;They shall not be ashamed,But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.
