34:1 あるとき、レアとヤコブとの間に生まれた娘のディナが土地の娘たちに会いに出かけたが、 34:2 その土地の首長であるヒビ人ハモルの息子シケムが彼女を見かけて捕らえ、共に寝て辱めた。 34:3 シケムはヤコブの娘ディナに心を奪われ、この若い娘を愛し、言い寄った。 34:4 更にシケムは、父ハモルに言った。「どうか、この娘と結婚させてください。」 34:5 ヤコブは、娘のディナが汚されたことを聞いたが、息子たちは家畜を連れて野に出ていたので、彼らが帰るまで黙っていた。 34:6 シケムの父ハモルがヤコブと話し合うためにやって来たとき、 34:7 ヤコブの息子たちが野から帰って来てこの事を聞き、皆、互いに嘆き、また激しく憤った。シケムがヤコブの娘と寝て、イスラエルに対して恥ずべきことを行ったからである。それはしてはならないことであった。 34:8 ハモルは彼らと話した。「息子のシケムは、あなたがたの娘さんを恋い慕っています。どうか、娘さんを息子の嫁にしてください。 34:9 お互いに姻戚関係を結び、あなたがたの娘さんたちをわたしどもにくださり、わたしどもの娘を嫁にしてくださいませんか。 34:10 そして、わたしどもと一緒に住んでください。あなたがたのための土地も十分あります。どうか、ここに移り住んで、自由に使ってください。」 34:11 シケムも、ディナの父や兄弟たちに言った。「ぜひとも、よろしくお願いします。お申し出があれば何でも差し上げます。 34:12 どんなに高い結納金でも贈り物でも、お望みどおりに差し上げます。ですから、ぜひあの方をわたしの妻にください。」 34:13 しかし、シケムが妹のディナを汚したので、ヤコブの息子たちは、シケムとその父ハモルをだましてこう答えた。 34:14 「割礼を受けていない男に、妹を妻として与えることはできません。そのようなことは我々の恥とするところです。 34:15 ただ、次の条件がかなえられれば、あなたたちに同意しましょう。それは、あなたたちの男性が皆、割礼を受けて我々と同じようになることです。 34:16 そうすれば、我々の娘たちをあなたたちに与え、あなたたちの娘を我々がめとります。そして我々は、あなたたちと一緒に住んで一つの民となります。 34:17 しかし、もし割礼を受けることに同意しないなら、我々は娘を連れてここを立ち去ることにします。」 34:18 ハモルとその息子シケムは、この条件なら受け入れてもよいと思った。 34:19 とくにシケムは、ヤコブの娘を愛していたので、ためらわず実行することにした。彼は、ハモル家の中では最も尊敬されていた。 34:20 ハモルと息子シケムは、町の門のところへ行き町の人々に提案した。 34:21 「あの人たちは、我々と仲良くやっていける人たちだ。彼らをここに住まわせ、この土地を自由に使ってもらうことにしようではないか。土地は御覧のとおり十分広いから、彼らが来ても大丈夫だ。そして、彼らの娘たちを我々の嫁として迎え、我々の娘たちを彼らに与えようではないか。 34:22 ただ、次の条件がかなえられれば、あの人たちは我々と一緒に住み、一つの民となることに同意するというのだ。それは、彼らが割礼を受けているように、我々も男性は皆、割礼を受けることだ。 34:23 そうすれば、彼らの家畜の群れも財産も動物もみな、我々のものになるではないか。それには、ただ彼らの条件に同意さえすれば、彼らは我々と一緒に住むことができるのだ。」 34:24 町の門のところに集まっていた人々は皆、ハモルと息子シケムの提案を受け入れた。町の門のところに集まっていた男性はこうして、すべて割礼を受けた。 34:25 三日目になって、男たちがまだ傷の痛みに苦しんでいたとき、ヤコブの二人の息子、つまりディナの兄のシメオンとレビは、めいめい剣を取って難なく町に入り、男たちをことごとく殺した。 34:26 ハモルと息子シケムも剣にかけて殺し、シケムの家からディナを連れ出した。 34:27 ヤコブの息子たちは、倒れている者たちに襲いかかり、更に町中を略奪した。自分たちの妹を汚したからである。 34:28 そして、羊や牛やろばなど、町の中のものも野にあるものも奪い取り、 34:29 家の中にあるものもみな奪い、女も子供もすべて捕虜にした。 34:30 「困ったことをしてくれたものだ。わたしはこの土地に住むカナン人やペリジ人の憎まれ者になり、のけ者になってしまった。こちらは少人数なのだから、彼らが集まって攻撃してきたら、わたしも家族も滅ぼされてしまうではないか」とヤコブがシメオンとレビに言うと、 34:31 二人はこう言い返した。「わたしたちの妹が娼婦のように扱われてもかまわないのですか。」
34:1 Now Dinah the daughter of Leah, whom she had borne to Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land. 34:2 And when Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the country, saw her, he took her and lay with her, and violated her. 34:3 His soul was strongly attracted to Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the young woman and spoke kindly to the young woman. 34:4 So Shechem spoke to his father Hamor, saying, "Get me this young woman as a wife." 34:5 And Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah his daughter. Now his sons were with his livestock in the field; so Jacob held his peace until they came. 34:6 Then Hamor the father of Shechem went out to Jacob to speak with him. 34:7 And the sons of Jacob came in from the field when they heard it; and the men were grieved and very angry, because he had done a disgraceful thing in Israel by lying with Jacob's daughter, a thing which ought not to be done. 34:8 But Hamor spoke with them, saying, "The soul of my son Shechem longs for your daughter. Please give her to him as a wife. 34:9 "And make marriages with us; give your daughters to us, and take our daughters to yourselves. 34:10 "So you shall dwell with us, and the land shall be before you. Dwell and trade in it, and acquire possessions for yourselves in it." 34:11 Then Shechem said to her father and her brothers, "Let me find favor in your eyes, and whatever you say to me I will give. 34:12 "Ask me ever so much dowry and gift, and I will give according to what you say to me; but give me the young woman as a wife." 34:13 But the sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor his father, and spoke deceitfully, because he had defiled Dinah their sister. 34:14 And they said to them, "We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one who is uncircumcised, for that would be a reproach to us. 34:15 "But on this condition we will consent to you: If you will become as we are, if every male of you is circumcised, 34:16 "then we will give our daughters to you, and we will take your daughters to us; and we will dwell with you, and we will become one people. 34:17 "But if you will not heed us and be circumcised, then we will take our daughter and be gone." 34:18 And their words pleased Hamor and Shechem, Hamor's son. 34:19 So the young man did not delay to do the thing, because he delighted in Jacob's daughter. He was more honorable than all the household of his father. 34:20 And Hamor and Shechem his son came to the gate of their city, and spoke with the men of their city, saying: 34:21 "These men are at peace with us. Therefore let them dwell in the land and trade in it. For indeed the land is large enough for them. Let us take their daughters to us as wives, and let us give them our daughters. 34:22 "Only on this condition will the men consent to dwell with us, to be one people: if every male among us is circumcised as they are circumcised. 34:23 "Will not their livestock, their property, and every animal of theirs be ours? Only let us consent to them, and they will dwell with us." 34:24 And all who went out of the gate of his city heeded Hamor and Shechem his son; every male was circumcised, all who went out of the gate of his city. 34:25 Now it came to pass on the third day, when they were in pain, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah's brothers, each took his sword and came boldly upon the city and killed all the males. 34:26 And they killed Hamor and Shechem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah from Shechem's house, and went out. 34:27 The sons of Jacob came upon the slain, and plundered the city, because their sister had been defiled. 34:28 They took their sheep, their oxen, and their donkeys, what was in the city and what was in the field, 34:29 and all their wealth. All their little ones and their wives they took captive; and they plundered even all that was in the houses. 34:30 Then Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, "You have troubled me by making me obnoxious among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites; and since I am few in number, they will gather themselves together against me and kill me. I shall be destroyed, my household and I." 34:31 But they said, "Should he treat our sister like a harlot?"

Selah 32:5 I acknowledged my sin to You,And my iniquity I have not hidden.I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,"And You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah 32:6 For this cause everyone who is godly shall pray to YouIn a time when You may be found;Surely in a flood of great watersThey shall not come near him. 32:7 You are my hiding place;You shall preserve me from trouble;You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;I will guide you with My eye. 32:9 Do not be like the horse or like the mule,Which have no understanding,Which must be harnessed with bit and bridle,Else they will not come near you. 32:10 Many sorrows shall be to the wicked;But he who trusts in the Lord, mercy shall surround him. 32:11 Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, you righteous;And shout for joy, all you upright in heart!
