1:1 ヤコブと共に一家を挙げてエジプトへ下ったイスラエルの子らの名前は次のとおりである。 1:2 ルベン、シメオン、レビ、ユダ、 1:3 イサカル、ゼブルン、ベニヤミン、 1:4 ダン、ナフタリ、ガド、アシェル。 1:5 ヤコブの腰から出た子、孫の数は全部で七十人であった。ヨセフは既にエジプトにいた。 1:6 ヨセフもその兄弟たちも、その世代の人々も皆、死んだが、 1:7 イスラエルの人々は子を産み、おびただしく数を増し、ますます強くなって国中に溢れた。 1:8 そのころ、ヨセフのことを知らない新しい王が出てエジプトを支配し、 1:9 国民に警告した。「イスラエル人という民は、今や、我々にとってあまりに数多く、強力になりすぎた。 1:10 抜かりなく取り扱い、これ以上の増加を食い止めよう。一度戦争が起これば、敵側に付いて我々と戦い、この国を取るかもしれない。」 1:11 エジプト人はそこで、イスラエルの人々の上に強制労働の監督を置き、重労働を課して虐待した。イスラエルの人々はファラオの物資貯蔵の町、ピトムとラメセスを建設した。 1:12 しかし、虐待されればされるほど彼らは増え広がったので、エジプト人はますますイスラエルの人々を嫌悪し、 1:13 イスラエルの人々を酷使し、 1:14 粘土こね、れんが焼き、あらゆる農作業などの重労働によって彼らの生活を脅かした。彼らが従事した労働はいずれも過酷を極めた。
1:15 エジプト王は二人のヘブライ人の助産婦に命じた。一人はシフラといい、もう一人はプアといった。 1:16 「お前たちがヘブライ人の女の出産を助けるときには、子供の性別を確かめ、男の子ならば殺し、女の子ならば生かしておけ。」 1:17 助産婦はいずれも神を畏れていたので、エジプト王が命じたとおりにはせず、男の子も生かしておいた。 1:18 エジプト王は彼女たちを呼びつけて問いただした。「どうしてこのようなことをしたのだ。お前たちは男の子を生かしているではないか。」 1:19 助産婦はファラオに答えた。「ヘブライ人の女はエジプト人の女性とは違います。彼女たちは丈夫で、助産婦が行く前に産んでしまうのです。」 1:20 神はこの助産婦たちに恵みを与えられた。民は数を増し、甚だ強くなった。 1:21 助産婦たちは神を畏れていたので、神は彼女たちにも子宝を恵まれた。
1:22 ファラオは全国民に命じた。「生まれた男の子は、一人残らずナイル川にほうり込め。女の子は皆、生かしておけ。」
1:1 Now these are the names of the children of Israel who came to Egypt; each man and his household came with Jacob: 1:2 Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah; 1:3 Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin; 1:4 Dan, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher. 1:5 All those who were descendants of Jacob were seventy persons (for Joseph was in Egypt already). 1:6 And Joseph died, all his brothers, and all that generation. 1:7 But the children of Israel were fruitful and increased abundantly, multiplied and grew exceedingly mighty; and the land was filled with them. 1:8 Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph. 1:9 And he said to his people, "Look, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we; 1:10 "come, let us deal shrewdly with them, lest they multiply, and it happen, in the event of war, that they also join our enemies and fight against us, and so go up out of the land." 1:11 Therefore they set taskmasters over them to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh supply cities, Pithom and Raamses. 1:12 But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were in dread of the children of Israel. 1:13 So the Egyptians made the children of Israel serve with rigor. 1:14 And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage-in mortar, in brick, and in all manner of service in the field. All their service in which they made them serve was with rigor. 1:15 Then the king of Egypt spoke to the Hebrew midwives, of whom the name of one was Shiphrah and the name of the other Puah; 1:16 and he said, "When you do the duties of a midwife for the Hebrew women, and see them on the birthstools, if it is a son, then you shall kill him; but if it is a daughter, then she shall live." 1:17 But the midwives feared God, and did not do as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the male children alive. 1:18 So the king of Egypt called for the midwives and said to them, "Why have you done this thing, and saved the male children alive?" 1:19 And the midwives said to Pharaoh, "Because the Hebrew women are not like the Egyptian women; for they are lively and give birth before the midwives come to them." 1:20 Therefore God dealt well with the midwives, and the people multiplied and grew very mighty. 1:21 And so it was, because the midwives feared God, that He provided households for them. 1:22 So Pharaoh commanded all his people, saying, "Every son who is born you shall cast into the river, and every daughter you shall save alive."
4:12 イエスは、ヨハネが捕らえられたと聞き、ガリラヤに退かれた。 4:13 そして、ナザレを離れ、ゼブルンとナフタリの地方にある湖畔の町カファルナウムに来て住まわれた。 4:14 それは、預言者イザヤを通して言われていたことが実現するためであった。 4:15 「ゼブルンの地とナフタリの地、／湖沿いの道、ヨルダン川のかなたの地、／異邦人のガリラヤ、 4:16 暗闇に住む民は大きな光を見、／死の陰の地に住む者に光が射し込んだ。」 4:17 そのときから、イエスは、「悔い改めよ。天の国は近づいた」と言って、宣べ伝え始められた。
4:18 イエスは、ガリラヤ湖のほとりを歩いておられたとき、二人の兄弟、ペトロと呼ばれるシモンとその兄弟アンデレが、湖で網を打っているのを御覧になった。彼らは漁師だった。 4:19 イエスは、「わたしについて来なさい。人間をとる漁師にしよう」と言われた。 4:20 二人はすぐに網を捨てて従った。 4:21 そこから進んで、別の二人の兄弟、ゼベダイの子ヤコブとその兄弟ヨハネが、父親のゼベダイと一緒に、舟の中で網の手入れをしているのを御覧になると、彼らをお呼びになった。 4:22 この二人もすぐに、舟と父親とを残してイエスに従った。
4:23 イエスはガリラヤ中を回って、諸会堂で教え、御国の福音を宣べ伝え、また、民衆のありとあらゆる病気や患いをいやされた。 4:24 そこで、イエスの評判がシリア中に広まった。人々がイエスのところへ、いろいろな病気や苦しみに悩む者、悪霊に取りつかれた者、てんかんの者、中風の者など、あらゆる病人を連れて来たので、これらの人々をいやされた。 4:25 こうして、ガリラヤ、デカポリス、エルサレム、ユダヤ、ヨルダン川の向こう側から、大勢の群衆が来てイエスに従った。
4:12 Now when Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, He departed to Galilee. 4:13 And leaving Nazareth, He came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the regions of Zebulun and Naphtali, 4:14 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: 4:15 "The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali,By the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan,Galilee of the Gentiles: 4:16 The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light,And upon those who sat in the region and shadow of deathLight has dawned." 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." 4:18 And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 4:19 Then He said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men." 4:20 They immediately left their nets and followed Him. 4:21 Going on from there, He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. He called them, 4:22 and immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him. 4:23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people. 4:24 Then His fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them. 4:25 Great multitudes followed Him-from Galilee, and from Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and beyond the Jordan.
