43:1 この地方の飢饉はひどくなる一方であった。 43:2 エジプトから持ち帰った穀物を食べ尽くすと、父は息子たちに言った。「もう一度行って、我々の食糧を少し買って来なさい。」 43:3 しかし、ユダは答えた。「あの人は、『弟が一緒でないかぎり、わたしの顔を見ることは許さぬ』と、厳しく我々に言い渡したのです。 43:4 もし弟を一緒に行かせてくださるなら、我々は下って行って、あなたのために食糧を買って参ります。 43:5 しかし、一緒に行かせてくださらないのなら、行くわけにはいきません。『弟が一緒でないかぎり、わたしの顔を見ることは許さぬ』と、あの人が我々に言ったのですから。」 43:6 「なぜお前たちは、その人にもう一人弟がいるなどと言って、わたしを苦しめるようなことをしたのか」とイスラエルが言うと、 43:7 彼らは答えた。「あの人が、我々のことや家族のことについて、『お前たちの父親は、まだ生きているのか』とか、『お前たちには、まだほかに弟がいるのか』などと、しきりに尋ねるものですから、尋ねられるままに答えただけです。まさか、『弟を連れて来い』などと言われようとは思いも寄りませんでしたから。」 43:8 ユダは、父イスラエルに言った。「あの子をぜひわたしと一緒に行かせてください。それなら、すぐにでも行って参ります。そうすれば、我々も、あなたも、子供たちも死なずに生き延びることができます。 43:9 あの子のことはわたしが保障します。その責任をわたしに負わせてください。もしも、あの子をお父さんのもとに連れ帰らず、無事な姿をお目にかけられないようなことにでもなれば、わたしがあなたに対して生涯その罪を負い続けます。 43:10 こんなにためらっていなければ、今ごろはもう二度も行って来たはずです。」 43:11 すると、父イスラエルは息子たちに言った。「どうしてもそうしなければならないのなら、こうしなさい。この土地の名産の品を袋に入れて、その人への贈り物として持って行くのだ。乳香と蜜を少し、樹脂と没薬、ピスタチオやアーモンドの実。 43:12 それから、銀を二倍用意して行きなさい。袋の口に戻されていた銀も持って行ってお返しするのだ。たぶん何かの間違いだったのだろうから。 43:13 では、弟を連れて、早速その人のところへ戻りなさい。 43:14 どうか、全能の神がその人の前でお前たちに憐れみを施し、もう一人の兄弟と、このベニヤミンを返してくださいますように。このわたしがどうしても子供を失わねばならないのなら、失ってもよい。」 43:15 息子たちは贈り物と二倍の銀を用意すると、ベニヤミンを連れて、早速エジプトへ下って行った。さて、一行がヨセフの前に進み出ると、 43:16 ヨセフはベニヤミンが一緒なのを見て、自分の家を任せている執事に言った。「この人たちを家へお連れしなさい。それから、家畜を屠って料理を調えなさい。昼の食事をこの人たちと一緒にするから。」 43:17 執事はヨセフに言われたとおりにし、一同をヨセフの屋敷へ連れて行った。 43:18 一同はヨセフの屋敷へ連れて来られたので、恐ろしくなって、「これはきっと、前に来たとき我々の袋に戻されていたあの銀のせいだ。それで、ここに連れ込まれようとしているのだ。今に、ろばもろとも捕らえられ、ひどい目に遭い、奴隷にされてしまうにちがいない」と思った。 43:19 彼らは屋敷の入り口のところでヨセフの執事の前に進み出て、話しかけて、 43:20 言った。「ああ、御主人様。実は、わたしどもは前に一度、食糧を買うためにここへ来たことがございます。 43:21 ところが、帰りに宿で袋を開けてみると、一人一人の袋の口のところにそれぞれ自分の銀が入っておりました。しかも、銀の重さは元のままでした。それで、それをお返ししなければ、と持って参りました。 43:22 もちろん、食糧を買うための銀は、別に用意してきております。一体誰がわたしどもの袋に銀を入れたのか分かりません。」 43:23 執事は、「御安心なさい。心配することはありません。きっと、あなたたちの神、あなたたちの父の神が、その宝を袋に入れてくださったのでしょう。あなたたちの銀は、このわたしが確かに受け取ったのですから」と答え、シメオンを兄弟たちのところへ連れて来た。 43:24 執事は一同をヨセフの屋敷に入れ、水を与えて足を洗わせ、ろばにも餌を与えた。 43:25 彼らは贈り物を調えて、昼にヨセフが帰宅するのを待った。一緒に食事をすることになっていると聞いたからである。 43:26 ヨセフが帰宅すると、一同は屋敷に持って来た贈り物を差し出して、地にひれ伏してヨセフを拝した。 43:27 ヨセフは一同の安否を尋ねた後、言った。「前に話していた、年をとった父上は元気か。まだ生きておられるか。」 43:28 「あなたさまの僕である父は元気で、まだ生きております」と彼らは答え、ひざまずいて、ヨセフを拝した。 43:29 ヨセフは同じ母から生まれた弟ベニヤミンをじっと見つめて、「前に話していた末の弟はこれか」と尋ね、「わたしの子よ。神の恵みがお前にあるように」と言うと、 43:30 ヨセフは急いで席を外した。弟懐かしさに、胸が熱くなり、涙がこぼれそうになったからである。ヨセフは奥の部屋に入ると泣いた。 43:31 やがて、顔を洗って出て来ると、ヨセフは平静を装い、「さあ、食事を出しなさい」と言いつけた。 43:32 食事は、ヨセフにはヨセフの、兄弟たちには兄弟たちの、相伴するエジプト人にはエジプト人のものと、別々に用意された。当時、エジプト人は、ヘブライ人と共に食事をすることはできなかったからである。それはエジプト人のいとうことであった。 43:33 兄弟たちは、いちばん上の兄から末の弟まで、ヨセフに向かって年齢順に座らされたので、驚いて互いに顔を見合わせた。 43:34 そして、料理がヨセフの前からみんなのところへ配られたが、ベニヤミンの分はほかのだれの分より五倍も多かった。一同はぶどう酒を飲み、ヨセフと共に酒宴を楽しんだ。
43:1 Now the famine was severe in the land. 43:2 And it came to pass, when they had eaten up the grain which they had brought from Egypt, that their father said to them, "Go back, buy us a little food." 43:3 But Judah spoke to him, saying, "The man solemnly warned us, saying, 'You shall not see my face unless your brother is with you.' " 43:4 "If you send our brother with us, we will go down and buy you food. 43:5 "But if you will not send him, we will not go down; for the man said to us, 'You shall not see my face unless your brother is with you.' " 43:6 And Israel said, "Why did you deal so wrongfully with me as to tell the man whether you had still another brother?" 43:7 But they said, "The man asked us pointedly about ourselves and our family, saying, 'Is your father still alive? Have you another brother?' And we told him according to these words. Could we possibly have known that he would say, 'Bring your brother down'?" 43:8 Then Judah said to Israel his father, "Send the lad with me, and we will arise and go, that we may live and not die, both we and you and also our little ones. 43:9 "I myself will be surety for him; from my hand you shall require him. If I do not bring him back to you and set him before you, then let me bear the blame forever. 43:10 "For if we had not lingered, surely by now we would have returned this second time." 43:11 And their father Israel said to them, "If it must be so, then do this: Take some of the best fruits of the land in your vessels and carry down a present for the man-a little balm and a little honey, spices and myrrh, pistachio nuts and almonds. 43:12 "Take double money in your hand, and take back in your hand the money that was returned in the mouth of your sacks; perhaps it was an oversight. 43:13 "Take your brother also, and arise, go back to the man. 43:14 "And may God Almighty give you mercy before the man, that he may release your other brother and Benjamin. If I am bereaved, I am bereaved!" 43:15 So the men took that present and Benjamin, and they took double money in their hand, and arose and went down to Egypt; and they stood before Joseph. 43:16 When Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the steward of his house, "Take these men to my home, and slaughter an animal and make ready; for these men will dine with me at noon." 43:17 Then the man did as Joseph ordered, and the man brought the men into Joseph's house. 43:18 Now the men were afraid because they were brought into Joseph's house; and they said, "It is because of the money, which was returned in our sacks the first time, that we are brought in, so that he may make a case against us and fall upon us, to take us as slaves with our donkeys." 43:19 When they drew near to the steward of Joseph's house, they talked with him at the door of the house, 43:20 and said, "O sir, we indeed came down the first time to buy food; 43:21 "but it happened, when we came to the encampment, that we opened our sacks, and there, each man's money was in the mouth of his sack, our money in full weight; so we have brought it back in our hand. 43:22 "And we have brought down other money in our hands to buy food. We do not know who put our money in our sacks." 43:23 But he said, "Peace be with you, do not be afraid. Your God and the God of your father has given you treasure in your sacks; I had your money." Then he brought Simeon out to them. 43:24 So the man brought the men into Joseph's house and gave them water, and they washed their feet; and he gave their donkeys feed. 43:25 Then they made the present ready for Joseph's coming at noon, for they heard that they would eat bread there. 43:26 And when Joseph came home, they brought him the present which was in their hand into the house, and bowed down before him to the earth. 43:27 Then he asked them about their well-being, and said, "Is your father well, the old man of whom you spoke? Is he still alive?" 43:28 And they answered, "Your servant our father is in good health; he is still alive." And they bowed their heads down and prostrated themselves. 43:29 Then he lifted his eyes and saw his brother Benjamin, his mother's son, and said, "Is this your younger brother of whom you spoke to me?" And he said, "God be gracious to you, my son." 43:30 Now his heart yearned for his brother; so Joseph made haste and sought somewhere to weep. And he went into his chamber and wept there. 43:31 Then he washed his face and came out; and he restrained himself, and said, "Serve the bread." 43:32 So they set him a place by himself, and them by themselves, and the Egyptians who ate with him by themselves; because the Egyptians could not eat food with the Hebrews, for that is an abomination to the Egyptians. 43:33 And they sat before him, the firstborn according to his birthright and the youngest according to his youth; and the men looked in astonishment at one another. 43:34 Then he took servings to them from before him, but Benjamin's serving was five times as much as any of theirs. So they drank and were merry with him.
40:1 【指揮者によって。ダビデの詩。賛歌。】 40:2 主にのみ、わたしは望みをおいていた。主は耳を傾けて、叫びを聞いてくださった。 40:3 滅びの穴、泥沼からわたしを引き上げ／わたしの足を岩の上に立たせ／しっかりと歩ませ 40:4 わたしの口に新しい歌を／わたしたちの神への賛美を授けてくださった。人はこぞって主を仰ぎ見／主を畏れ敬い、主に依り頼む。 40:5 いかに幸いなことか、主に信頼をおく人／ラハブを信ずる者にくみせず／欺きの教えに従わない人は。 40:6 わたしの神、主よ／あなたは多くの不思議な業を成し遂げられます。あなたに並ぶものはありません。わたしたちに対する数知れない御計らいを／わたしは語り伝えて行きます。 40:7 あなたはいけにえも、穀物の供え物も望まず／焼き尽くす供え物も／罪の代償の供え物も求めず／ただ、わたしの耳を開いてくださいました。 40:8 そこでわたしは申します。御覧ください、わたしは来ております。わたしのことは／巻物に記されております。 40:9 わたしの神よ、御旨を行うことをわたしは望み／あなたの教えを胸に刻み 40:10 大いなる集会で正しく良い知らせを伝え／決して唇を閉じません。主よ、あなたはそれをご存じです。 40:11 恵みの御業を心に秘めておくことなく／大いなる集会であなたの真実と救いを語り／慈しみとまことを隠さずに語りました。 40:12 主よ、あなたも憐れみの心を閉ざすことなく／慈しみとまことによって／いつもわたしをお守りください。 40:13 悪はわたしにからみつき、数えきれません。わたしは自分の罪に捕えられ／何も見えなくなりました。その数は髪の毛よりも多く／わたしは心挫けています。 40:14 主よ、走り寄ってわたしを救ってください。主よ、急いでわたしを助けてください。 40:15 わたしの命を奪おうとねらっている者が／恥を受け、嘲られ／わたしを災いに遭わせようと望む者が／侮られて退き 40:16 わたしに向かってはやし立てる者が／恥を受けて破滅しますように。 40:17 あなたを尋ね求める人が／あなたによって喜び祝い、楽しみ／御救いを愛する人が／主をあがめよといつも歌いますように。 40:18 主よ、わたしは貧しく身を屈めています。わたしのためにお計らいください。あなたはわたしの助け、わたしの逃れ場。わたしの神よ、速やかに来てください。
40:1 I waited patiently for the Lord;And He inclined to me,And heard my cry. 40:2 He also brought me up out of a horrible pit,Out of the miry clay,And set my feet upon a rock,And established my steps. 40:3 He has put a new song in my mouth-Praise to our God;Many will see it and fear,And will trust in the Lord. 40:4 Blessed is that man who makes the Lord his trust,And does not respect the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies. 40:5 Many, O Lord my God, are Your wonderful worksWhich You have done;And Your thoughts toward usCannot be recounted to You in order;If I would declare and speak of them,They are more than can be numbered. 40:6 Sacrifice and offering You did not desire;My ears You have opened.Burnt offering and sin offering You did not require. 40:7 Then I said, "Behold, I come;In the scroll of the book it is written of me. 40:8 I delight to do Your will, O my God,And Your law is within my heart." 40:9 I have proclaimed the good news of righteousnessIn the great assembly;Indeed, I do not restrain my lips,O Lord, You Yourself know. 40:10 I have not hidden Your righteousness within my heart;I have declared Your faithfulness and Your salvation;I have not concealed Your lovingkindness and Your truthFrom the great assembly. 40:11 Do not withhold Your tender mercies from me, O Lord;Let Your lovingkindness and Your truth continually preserve me. 40:12 For innumerable evils have surrounded me;My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up;They are more than the hairs of my head;Therefore my heart fails me. 40:13 Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me;O Lord, make haste to help me! 40:14 Let them be ashamed and brought to mutual confusionWho seek to destroy my life;Let them be driven backward and brought to dishonorWho wish me evil. 40:15 Let them be confounded because of their shame,Who say to me, "Aha, aha!" 40:16 Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You;Let such as love Your salvation say continually,"The Lord be magnified!" 40:17 But I am poor and needy;Yet the Lord thinks upon me.You are my help and my deliverer;Do not delay, O my God.
