20:1 あなたが敵に向かって出陣するとき、馬と戦車、また味方より多数の軍勢を見ても恐れてはならない。あなたをエジプトの国から導き上られたあなたの神、主が共におられるからである。 20:2 いよいよ戦いの場に臨んだならば、祭司は進み出て、民に告げ、 20:3 次のように言わねばならない。「イスラエルよ、聞け。あなたたちは、今日、敵との戦いに臨む。心ひるむな。恐れるな。慌てるな。彼らの前にうろたえるな。 20:4 あなたたちの神、主が共に進み、敵と戦って勝利を賜るからである。」 20:5 役人たちは民に勧めなさい。「新しい家を建てて、まだ奉献式を済ませていない者はいないか。その人は家に帰りなさい。万一、戦死して、ほかの者が奉献式をするようなことにならないように。 20:6 ぶどう畑を作り、まだ最初の収穫をしていない者はいないか。その人は家に帰りなさい。万一、戦死して、ほかの者が最初の収穫をするようなことにならないように。 20:7 婚約しただけで、まだ結婚していない者はいないか。その人は家に帰りなさい。万一、戦死して、ほかの者が彼女と結婚するようなことにならないように。」 20:8 役人たちは更に民に勧めて言いなさい。「恐れて心ひるんでいる者はいないか。その人は家に帰りなさい。彼の心と同じように同胞の心が挫けるといけないから。」 20:9 役人たちが民への勧めを終えたならば、各部隊の長は民の指揮を取りなさい。 20:10 ある町を攻撃しようとして、そこに近づくならば、まず、降伏を勧告しなさい。 20:11 もしその町がそれを受諾し、城門を開くならば、その全住民を強制労働に服させ、あなたに仕えさせねばならない。 20:12 しかし、もしも降伏せず、抗戦するならば、町を包囲しなさい。 20:13 あなたの神、主はその町をあなたの手に渡されるから、あなたは男子をことごとく剣にかけて撃たねばならない。 20:14 ただし、女、子供、家畜、および町にあるものはすべてあなたの分捕り品として奪い取ることができる。あなたは、あなたの神、主が与えられた敵の分捕り品を自由に用いることができる。 20:15 このようになしうるのは、遠く離れた町々に対してであって、次に挙げる国々に属する町々に対してではない。 20:16 あなたの神、主が嗣業として与えられる諸国の民に属する町々で息のある者は、一人も生かしておいてはならない。 20:17 ヘト人、アモリ人、カナン人、ペリジ人、ヒビ人、エブス人は、あなたの神、主が命じられたように必ず滅ぼし尽くさねばならない。 20:18 それは、彼らがその神々に行ってきた、あらゆるいとうべき行為をあなたたちに教えてそれを行わせ、あなたたちがあなたたちの神、主に罪を犯すことのないためである。 20:19 あなたが町を攻略しようとして、長期にわたって包囲するとき、斧を振るってその町の木を切り尽くしてはならない。木の実は食糧になるから、それを切り倒してはならない。一体、野の木はあなたの前から城壁に囲まれた町に逃げ込む人間なのか。 20:20 ただ食用にならないことが分かっている木を切り尽くし、切った木を用いて塁を築き、あなたに抗戦する町を攻め落としなさい。
20:1 "When you go out to battle against your enemies, and see horses and chariots and people more numerous than you, do not be afraid of them; for the Lord your God is with you, who brought you up from the land of Egypt. 20:2 "So it shall be, when you are on the verge of battle, that the priest shall approach and speak to the people. 20:3 "And he shall say to them, 'Hear, O Israel: Today you are on the verge of battle with your enemies. Do not let your heart faint, do not be afraid, and do not tremble or be terrified because of them; 20:4 'for the Lord your God is He who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.' 20:5 "Then the officers shall speak to the people, saying: 'What man is there who has built a new house and has not dedicated it? Let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle and another man dedicate it. 20:6 'Also what man is there who has planted a vineyard and has not eaten of it? Let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle and another man eat of it. 20:7 'And what man is there who is betrothed to a woman and has not married her? Let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle and another man marry her.' 20:8 "The officers shall speak further to the people, and say, 'What man is there who is fearful and fainthearted? Let him go and return to his house, lest the heart of his brethren faint like his heart.' 20:9 "And so it shall be, when the officers have finished speaking to the people, that they shall make captains of the armies to lead the people. 20:10 "When you go near a city to fight against it, then proclaim an offer of peace to it. 20:11 "And it shall be that if they accept your offer of peace, and open to you, then all the people who are found in it shall be placed under tribute to you, and serve you. 20:12 "Now if the city will not make peace with you, but makes war against you, then you shall besiege it. 20:13 "And when the Lord your God delivers it into your hands, you shall strike every male in it with the edge of the sword. 20:14 "But the women, the little ones, the livestock, and all that is in the city, all its spoil, you shall plunder for yourself; and you shall eat the enemies' plunder which the Lord your God gives you. 20:15 "Thus you shall do to all the cities which are very far from you, which are not of the cities of these nations. 20:16 "But of the cities of these peoples which the Lord your God gives you as an inheritance, you shall let nothing that breathes remain alive, 20:17 "but you shall utterly destroy them: the Hittite and the Amorite and the Canaanite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite, just as the Lord your God has commanded you, 20:18 "lest they teach you to do according to all their abominations which they have done for their gods, and you sin against the Lord your God. 20:19 "When you besiege a city for a long time, while making war against it to take it, you shall not destroy its trees by wielding an ax against them; if you can eat of them, do not cut them down to use in the siege, for the tree of the field is man's food. 20:20 "Only the trees which you know are not trees for food you may destroy and cut down, to build siegeworks against the city that makes war with you, until it is subdued.
14:1 さて、過越祭と除酵祭の二日前になった。祭司長たちや律法学者たちは、なんとか計略を用いてイエスを捕らえて殺そうと考えていた。 14:2 彼らは、「民衆が騒ぎだすといけないから、祭りの間はやめておこう」と言っていた。
14:3 イエスがベタニアで重い皮膚病の人シモンの家にいて、食事の席に着いておられたとき、一人の女が、純粋で非常に高価なナルドの香油の入った石膏の壺を持って来て、それを壊し、香油をイエスの頭に注ぎかけた。 14:4 そこにいた人の何人かが、憤慨して互いに言った。「なぜ、こんなに香油を無駄遣いしたのか。 14:5 この香油は三百デナリオン以上に売って、貧しい人々に施すことができたのに。」そして、彼女を厳しくとがめた。 14:6 イエスは言われた。「するままにさせておきなさい。なぜ、この人を困らせるのか。わたしに良いことをしてくれたのだ。 14:7 貧しい人々はいつもあなたがたと一緒にいるから、したいときに良いことをしてやれる。しかし、わたしはいつも一緒にいるわけではない。 14:8 この人はできるかぎりのことをした。つまり、前もってわたしの体に香油を注ぎ、埋葬の準備をしてくれた。 14:9 はっきり言っておく。世界中どこでも、福音が宣べ伝えられる所では、この人のしたことも記念として語り伝えられるだろう。」
14:10 十二人の一人イスカリオテのユダは、イエスを引き渡そうとして、祭司長たちのところへ出かけて行った。 14:11 彼らはそれを聞いて喜び、金を与える約束をした。そこでユダは、どうすれば折よくイエスを引き渡せるかとねらっていた。
14:12 除酵祭の第一日、すなわち過越の小羊を屠る日、弟子たちがイエスに、「過越の食事をなさるのに、どこへ行って用意いたしましょうか」と言った。 14:13 そこで、イエスは次のように言って、二人の弟子を使いに出された。「都へ行きなさい。すると、水がめを運んでいる男に出会う。その人について行きなさい。 14:14 その人が入って行く家の主人にはこう言いなさい。『先生が、「弟子たちと一緒に過越の食事をするわたしの部屋はどこか」と言っています。』 14:15 すると、席が整って用意のできた二階の広間を見せてくれるから、そこにわたしたちのために準備をしておきなさい。」 14:16 弟子たちは出かけて都に行ってみると、イエスが言われたとおりだったので、過越の食事を準備した。 14:17 夕方になると、イエスは十二人と一緒にそこへ行かれた。 14:18 一同が席に着いて食事をしているとき、イエスは言われた。「はっきり言っておくが、あなたがたのうちの一人で、わたしと一緒に食事をしている者が、わたしを裏切ろうとしている。」 14:19 弟子たちは心を痛めて、「まさかわたしのことでは」と代わる代わる言い始めた。 14:20 イエスは言われた。「十二人のうちの一人で、わたしと一緒に鉢に食べ物を浸している者がそれだ。 14:21 人の子は、聖書に書いてあるとおりに、去って行く。だが、人の子を裏切るその者は不幸だ。生まれなかった方が、その者のためによかった。」
14:22 一同が食事をしているとき、イエスはパンを取り、賛美の祈りを唱えて、それを裂き、弟子たちに与えて言われた。「取りなさい。これはわたしの体である。」 14:23 また、杯を取り、感謝の祈りを唱えて、彼らにお渡しになった。彼らは皆その杯から飲んだ。 14:24 そして、イエスは言われた。「これは、多くの人のために流されるわたしの血、契約の血である。 14:25 はっきり言っておく。神の国で新たに飲むその日まで、ぶどうの実から作ったものを飲むことはもう決してあるまい。」 14:26 一同は賛美の歌をうたってから、オリーブ山へ出かけた。
14:1 After two days it was the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take Him by trickery and put Him to death. 14:2 But they said, "Not during the feast, lest there be an uproar of the people." 14:3 And being in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper, as He sat at the table, a woman came having an alabaster flask of very costly oil of spikenard. Then she broke the flask and poured it on His head. 14:4 But there were some who were indignant among themselves, and said, "Why was this fragrant oil wasted? 14:5 "For it might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii and given to the poor." And they criticized her sharply. 14:6 But Jesus said, "Let her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a good work for Me. 14:7 "For you have the poor with you always, and whenever you wish you may do them good; but Me you do not have always. 14:8 "She has done what she could. She has come beforehand to anoint My body for burial. 14:9 "Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her." 14:10 Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went to the chief priests to betray Him to them. 14:11 And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. So he sought how he might conveniently betray Him. 14:12 Now on the first day of Unleavened Bread, when they killed the Passover lamb, His disciples said to Him, "Where do You want us to go and prepare, that You may eat the Passover?" 14:13 And He sent out two of His disciples and said to them, "Go into the city, and a man will meet you carrying a pitcher of water; follow him. 14:14 "Wherever he goes in, say to the master of the house, 'The Teacher says, "Where is the guest room in which I may eat the Passover with My disciples?" ' 14:15 "Then he will show you a large upper room, furnished and prepared; there make ready for us." 14:16 So His disciples went out, and came into the city, and found it just as He had said to them; and they prepared the Passover. 14:17 In the evening He came with the twelve. 14:18 Now as they sat and ate, Jesus said, "Assuredly, I say to you, one of you who eats with Me will betray Me." 14:19 And they began to be sorrowful, and to say to Him one by one, "Is it I?" And another said, "Is it I?" 14:20 He answered and said to them, "It is one of the twelve, who dips with Me in the dish. 14:21 "The Son of Man indeed goes just as it is written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had never been born." 14:22 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them and said, "Take, eat; this is My body." 14:23 Then He took the cup, and when He had given thanks He gave it to them, and they all drank from it. 14:24 And He said to them, "This is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many. 14:25 "Assuredly, I say to you, I will no longer drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God." 14:26 And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
