5:1 ヨルダン川の西側にいるアモリ人の王たちと、沿岸地方にいるカナン人の王たちは皆、主がイスラエルの人々のためにヨルダン川の水を涸らして、彼らを渡らせたと聞いて、心が挫け、もはやイスラエルの人々に立ち向かおうとする者はいなかった。 5:2 そのとき、主はヨシュアに、火打ち石の刃物を作り、もう一度イスラエルの人々に割礼を施せ、とお命じになった。 5:3 ヨシュアは、自ら火打ち石の刃物を作り、ギブアト・アラロトでイスラエルの人々に割礼を施した。 5:4 ヨシュアが割礼を施した理由はこうである。すなわちエジプトを出て来たすべての民、戦士である成人男子は皆、エジプトを出た後、途中の荒れ野で死んだ。 5:5 出て来た民は皆、割礼を受けていたが、エジプトを出た後、途中の荒れ野で生まれた者は一人も割礼を受けていなかったからである。 5:6 イスラエルの人々は荒れ野を四十年さまよい歩き、その間にエジプトを出て来た民、戦士たちはすべて死に絶えた。彼らが主の御声に聞き従わなかったため、我々に与えると先祖たちにお誓いになった土地、すなわち乳と蜜の流れる土地を、彼らには見せない、と主は誓われたのである。 5:7 ヨシュアが割礼を施したのは、神がその代わりにお立てになった彼らの息子たちであって、途中で割礼を受ける折がなく、無割礼だったからである。 5:8 民は全員割礼を受けた後、その傷がいえるまで、宿営内の自分の場所にとどまった。 5:9 主はヨシュアに言われた。「今日、わたしはあなたたちから、エジプトでの恥辱を取り除いた（ガラ）。」そのために、その場所の名はギルガルと呼ばれ、今日に至っている。 5:10 イスラエルの人々はギルガルに宿営していたが、その月の十四日の夕刻、エリコの平野で過越祭を祝った。 5:11 過越祭の翌日、その日のうちに彼らは土地の産物を、酵母を入れないパンや炒り麦にして食べた。 5:12 彼らが土地の産物を食べ始めたその日以来、マナは絶え、イスラエルの人々に、もはやマナはなくなった。彼らは、その年にカナンの土地で取れた収穫物を食べた。 5:13 ヨシュアがエリコのそばにいたときのことである。彼が目を上げて、見ると、前方に抜き身の剣を手にした一人の男がこちらに向かって立っていた。ヨシュアが歩み寄って、「あなたは味方か、それとも敵か」と問いかけると、 5:14 彼は答えた。「いや。わたしは主の軍の将軍である。今、着いたところだ。」ヨシュアは地にひれ伏して拝し、彼に、「わが主は、この僕に何をお言いつけになるのですか」と言うと、 5:15 主の軍の将軍はヨシュアに言った。「あなたの足から履物を脱げ。あなたの立っている場所は聖なる所である。」ヨシュアはそのとおりにした。
5:1 So it was, when all the kings of the Amorites who were on the west side of the Jordan, and all the kings of the Canaanites who were by the sea, heard that the Lord had dried up the waters of the Jordan from before the children of Israel until we had crossed over, that their heart melted; and there was no spirit in them any longer because of the children of Israel. 5:2 At that time the Lord said to Joshua, "Make flint knives for yourself, and circumcise the sons of Israel again the second time." 5:3 So Joshua made flint knives for himself, and circumcised the sons of Israel at the hill of the foreskins. 5:4 And this is the reason why Joshua circumcised them: All the people who came out of Egypt who were males, all the men of war, had died in the wilderness on the way, after they had come out of Egypt. 5:5 For all the people who came out had been circumcised, but all the people born in the wilderness, on the way as they came out of Egypt, had not been circumcised. 5:6 For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the people who were men of war, who came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they did not obey the voice of the Lord-to whom the Lord swore that He would not show them the land which the Lord had sworn to their fathers that He would give us, "a land flowing with milk and honey." 5:7 Then Joshua circumcised their sons whom He raised up in their place; for they were uncircumcised, because they had not been circumcised on the way. 5:8 So it was, when they had finished circumcising all the people, that they stayed in their places in the camp till they were healed. 5:9 Then the Lord said to Joshua, "This day I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you." Therefore the name of the place is called Gilgal to this day. 5:10 Now the children of Israel camped in Gilgal, and kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month at twilight on the plains of Jericho. 5:11 And they ate of the produce of the land on the day after the Passover, unleavened bread and parched grain, on the very same day. 5:12 Then the manna ceased on the day after they had eaten the produce of the land; and the children of Israel no longer had manna, but they ate the food of the land of Canaan that year. 5:13 And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, a Man stood opposite him with His sword drawn in His hand. And Joshua went to Him and said to Him, "Are You for us or for our adversaries?" 5:14 So He said, "No, but as Commander of the army of the Lord I have now come." And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped, and said to Him, "What does my Lord say to His servant?" 5:15 Then the Commander of the Lord's army said to Joshua, "Take your sandal off your foot, for the place where you stand is holy." And Joshua did so.
85:1 【指揮者によって。コラの子の詩。賛歌。】 85:2 主よ、あなたは御自分の地をお望みになり／ヤコブの捕われ人を連れ帰ってくださいました。 85:3 御自分の民の罪を赦し／彼らの咎をすべて覆ってくださいました。〔セラ 85:4 怒りをことごとく取り去り／激しい憤りを静められました。 85:5 わたしたちの救いの神よ／わたしたちのもとにお帰りください。わたしたちのための苦悩を静めてください。 85:6 あなたはとこしえにわたしたちを怒り／その怒りを代々に及ぼされるのですか。 85:7 再びわたしたちに命を得させ／あなたの民があなたによって／喜び祝うようにしてくださらないのですか。 85:8 主よ、慈しみをわたしたちに示し／わたしたちをお救いください。 85:9 わたしは神が宣言なさるのを聞きます。主は平和を宣言されます／御自分の民に、主の慈しみに生きる人々に／彼らが愚かなふるまいに戻らないように。 85:10 主を畏れる人に救いは近く／栄光はわたしたちの地にとどまるでしょう。 85:11 慈しみとまことは出会い／正義と平和は口づけし 85:12 まことは地から萌えいで／正義は天から注がれます。 85:13 主は必ず良いものをお与えになり／わたしたちの地は実りをもたらします。 85:14 正義は御前を行き／主の進まれる道を備えます。
85:1 Lord, You have been favorable to Your land;You have brought back the captivity of Jacob. 85:2 You have forgiven the iniquity of Your people;You have covered all their sin. Selah 85:3 You have taken away all Your wrath;You have turned from the fierceness of Your anger. 85:4 Restore us, O God of our salvation,And cause Your anger toward us to cease. 85:5 Will You be angry with us forever?Will You prolong Your anger to all generations? 85:6 Will You not revive us again,That Your people may rejoice in You? 85:7 Show us Your mercy, Lord,And grant us Your salvation. 85:8 I will hear what God the Lord will speak,For He will speak peaceTo His people and to His saints;But let them not turn back to folly. 85:9 Surely His salvation is near to those who fear Him,That glory may dwell in our land. 85:10 Mercy and truth have met together;Righteousness and peace have kissed. 85:11 Truth shall spring out of the earth,And righteousness shall look down from heaven. 85:12 Yes, the Lord will give what is good;And our land will yield its increase. 85:13 Righteousness will go before Him,And shall make His footsteps our pathway.
