4:1 When Ehud was dead, the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of the Lord. 4:2 So the Lord sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, who reigned in Hazor. The commander of his army was Sisera, who dwelt in Harosheth Hagoyim. 4:3 And the children of Israel cried out to the Lord; for Jabin had nine hundred chariots of iron, and for twenty years he harshly oppressed the children of Israel. 4:4 Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, was judging Israel at that time. 4:5 And she would sit under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the mountains of Ephraim. And the children of Israel came up to her for judgment. 4:6 Then she sent and called for Barak the son of Abinoam from Kedesh in Naphtali, and said to him, "Has not the Lord God of Israel commanded, 'Go and deploy troops at Mount Tabor; take with you ten thousand men of the sons of Naphtali and of the sons of Zebulun; 4:7 'and against you I will deploy Sisera, the commander of Jabin's army, with his chariots and his multitude at the River Kishon; and I will deliver him into your hand'?" 4:8 And Barak said to her, "If you will go with me, then I will go; but if you will not go with me, I will not go!" 4:9 So she said, "I will surely go with you; nevertheless there will be no glory for you in the journey you are taking, for the Lord will sell Sisera into the hand of a woman." Then Deborah arose and went with Barak to Kedesh. 4:10 And Barak called Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh; he went up with ten thousand men under his command, and Deborah went up with him. 4:11 Now Heber the Kenite, of the children of Hobab the father-in-law of Moses, had separated himself from the Kenites and pitched his tent near the terebinth tree at Zaanaim, which is beside Kedesh. 4:12 And they reported to Sisera that Barak the son of Abinoam had gone up to Mount Tabor. 4:13 So Sisera gathered together all his chariots, nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the people who were with him, from Harosheth Hagoyim to the River Kishon. 4:14 Then Deborah said to Barak, "Up! For this is the day in which the Lord has delivered Sisera into your hand. Has not the Lord gone out before you?" So Barak went down from Mount Tabor with ten thousand men following him. 4:15 And the Lord routed Sisera and all his chariots and all his army with the edge of the sword before Barak; and Sisera alighted from his chariot and fled away on foot. 4:16 But Barak pursued the chariots and the army as far as Harosheth Hagoyim, and all the army of Sisera fell by the edge of the sword; not a man was left. 4:17 However, Sisera had fled away on foot to the tent of Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite; for there was peace between Jabin king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite. 4:18 And Jael went out to meet Sisera, and said to him, "Turn aside, my lord, turn aside to me; do not fear." And when he had turned aside with her into the tent, she covered him with a blanket. 4:19 Then he said to her, "Please give me a little water to drink, for I am thirsty." So she opened a jug of milk, gave him a drink, and covered him. 4:20 And he said to her, "Stand at the door of the tent, and if any man comes and inquires of you, and says, 'Is there any man here?' you shall say, 'No.' " 4:21 Then Jael, Heber's wife, took a tent peg and took a hammer in her hand, and went softly to him and drove the peg into his temple, and it went down into the ground; for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died. 4:22 And then, as Barak pursued Sisera, Jael came out to meet him, and said to him, "Come, I will show you the man whom you seek." And when he went into her tent, there lay Sisera, dead with the peg in his temple. 4:23 So on that day God subdued Jabin king of Canaan in the presence of the children of Israel. 4:24 And the hand of the children of Israel grew stronger and stronger against Jabin king of Canaan, until they had destroyed Jabin king of Canaan.
7:1 イエスは、民衆にこれらの言葉をすべて話し終えてから、カファルナウムに入られた。 7:2 ところで、ある百人隊長に重んじられている部下が、病気で死にかかっていた。 7:3 イエスのことを聞いた百人隊長は、ユダヤ人の長老たちを使いにやって、部下を助けに来てくださるように頼んだ。 7:4 長老たちはイエスのもとに来て、熱心に願った。「あの方は、そうしていただくのにふさわしい人です。 7:5 わたしたちユダヤ人を愛して、自ら会堂を建ててくれたのです。」 7:6 そこで、イエスは一緒に出かけられた。ところが、その家からほど遠からぬ所まで来たとき、百人隊長は友達を使いにやって言わせた。「主よ、御足労には及びません。わたしはあなたを自分の屋根の下にお迎えできるような者ではありません。 7:7 ですから、わたしの方からお伺いするのさえふさわしくないと思いました。ひと言おっしゃってください。そして、わたしの僕をいやしてください。 7:8 わたしも権威の下に置かれている者ですが、わたしの下には兵隊がおり、一人に『行け』と言えば行きますし、他の一人に『来い』と言えば来ます。また部下に『これをしろ』と言えば、そのとおりにします。」 7:9 イエスはこれを聞いて感心し、従っていた群衆の方を振り向いて言われた。「言っておくが、イスラエルの中でさえ、わたしはこれほどの信仰を見たことがない。」 7:10 使いに行った人たちが家に帰ってみると、その部下は元気になっていた。
7:11 それから間もなく、イエスはナインという町に行かれた。弟子たちや大勢の群衆も一緒であった。 7:12 イエスが町の門に近づかれると、ちょうど、ある母親の一人息子が死んで、棺が担ぎ出されるところだった。その母親はやもめであって、町の人が大勢そばに付き添っていた。 7:13 主はこの母親を見て、憐れに思い、「もう泣かなくともよい」と言われた。 7:14 そして、近づいて棺に手を触れられると、担いでいる人たちは立ち止まった。イエスは、「若者よ、あなたに言う。起きなさい」と言われた。 7:15 すると、死人は起き上がってものを言い始めた。イエスは息子をその母親にお返しになった。 7:16 人々は皆恐れを抱き、神を賛美して、「大預言者が我々の間に現れた」と言い、また、「神はその民を心にかけてくださった」と言った。 7:17 イエスについてのこの話は、ユダヤの全土と周りの地方一帯に広まった。
7:18 ヨハネの弟子たちが、これらすべてのことについてヨハネに知らせた。そこで、ヨハネは弟子の中から二人を呼んで、 7:19 主のもとに送り、こう言わせた。「来るべき方は、あなたでしょうか。それとも、ほかの方を待たなければなりませんか。」 7:20 二人はイエスのもとに来て言った。「わたしたちは洗礼者ヨハネからの使いの者ですが、『来るべき方は、あなたでしょうか。それとも、ほかの方を待たなければなりませんか』とお尋ねするようにとのことです。」 7:21 そのとき、イエスは病気や苦しみや悪霊に悩んでいる多くの人々をいやし、大勢の盲人を見えるようにしておられた。 7:22 それで、二人にこうお答えになった。「行って、見聞きしたことをヨハネに伝えなさい。目の見えない人は見え、足の不自由な人は歩き、重い皮膚病を患っている人は清くなり、耳の聞こえない人は聞こえ、死者は生き返り、貧しい人は福音を告げ知らされている。 7:23 わたしにつまずかない人は幸いである。」
7:1 Now when He concluded all His sayings in the hearing of the people, He entered Capernaum. 7:2 And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear to him, was sick and ready to die. 7:3 So when he heard about Jesus, he sent elders of the Jews to Him, pleading with Him to come and heal his servant. 7:4 And when they came to Jesus, they begged Him earnestly, saying that the one for whom He should do this was deserving, 7:5 "for he loves our nation, and has built us a synagogue." 7:6 Then Jesus went with them. And when He was already not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to Him, saying to Him, "Lord, do not trouble Yourself, for I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof. 7:7 "Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to You. But say the word, and my servant will be healed. 7:8 "For I also am a man placed under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to one, 'Go,' and he goes; and to another, 'Come,' and he comes; and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it." 7:9 When Jesus heard these things, He marveled at him, and turned around and said to the crowd that followed Him, "I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!" 7:10 And those who were sent, returning to the house, found the servant well who had been sick. 7:11 Now it happened, the day after, that He went into a city called Nain; and many of His disciples went with Him, and a large crowd. 7:12 And when He came near the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother; and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the city was with her. 7:13 When the Lord saw her, He had compassion on her and said to her, "Do not weep." 7:14 Then He came and touched the open coffin, and those who carried him stood still. And He said, "Young man, I say to you, arise." 7:15 So he who was dead sat up and began to speak. And He presented him to his mother. 7:16 Then fear came upon all, and they glorified God, saying, "A great prophet has risen up among us"; and, "God has visited His people." 7:17 And this report about Him went throughout all Judea and all the surrounding region. 7:18 Then the disciples of John reported to him concerning all these things. 7:19 And John, calling two of his disciples to him, sent them to Jesus, saying, "Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?" 7:20 When the men had come to Him, they said, "John the Baptist has sent us to You, saying, 'Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?' " 7:21 And that very hour He cured many of infirmities, afflictions, and evil spirits; and to many blind He gave sight. 7:22 Jesus answered and said to them, "Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard: that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them. 7:23 "And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me."
