6:1 イスラエルの人々は、主の目に悪とされることを行った。主は彼らを七年間、ミディアン人の手に渡された。 6:2 ミディアン人の手がイスラエルに脅威となったので、イスラエルの人々は彼らを避けるために山の洞窟や、洞穴、要塞を利用した。 6:3 イスラエルが種を蒔くと、決まってミディアン人は、アマレク人や東方の諸民族と共に上って来て攻めたてた。 6:4 彼らはイスラエルの人々に対して陣を敷き、この地の産物をガザに至るまで荒らし、命の糧となるものは羊も牛もろばも何も残さなかった。 6:5 彼らは家畜と共に、天幕を携えて上って来たが、それはいなごの大群のようで、人もらくだも数知れなかった。彼らは来て、この地を荒らしまわった。 6:6 イスラエルは、ミディアン人のために甚だしく衰えたので、イスラエルの人々は主に助けを求めて叫んだ。 6:7 イスラエルの人々がミディアン人のことで主に助けを求めて叫ぶと、 6:8 主は一人の預言者をイスラエルの人々に遣わされた。預言者は語った。「イスラエルの神、主はこう言われる。わたしはエジプトからあなたたちを導き上り、奴隷の家から導き出した。 6:9 わたしはあなたたちをエジプトの手からだけでなく、あらゆる抑圧者の手から救い出し、あなたたちの赴く前に彼らを追い払って、その地をあなたたちに与えた。 6:10 わたしがあなたたちの神、主であり、あなたたちはアモリ人の国に住んでいても、アモリ人の神を畏れ敬ってはならない、とわたしは告げておいた。だがあなたたちは、わたしの声に聞き従わなかった。」 6:11 さて、主の御使いが来て、オフラにあるテレビンの木の下に座った。これはアビエゼルの人ヨアシュのものであった。その子ギデオンは、ミディアン人に奪われるのを免れるため、酒ぶねの中で小麦を打っていた。 6:12 主の御使いは彼に現れて言った。「勇者よ、主はあなたと共におられます。」 6:13 ギデオンは彼に言った。「わたしの主よ、お願いします。主なる神がわたしたちと共においでになるのでしたら、なぜこのようなことがわたしたちにふりかかったのですか。先祖が、『主は、我々をエジプトから導き上られたではないか』と言って語り伝えた、驚くべき御業はすべてどうなってしまったのですか。今、主はわたしたちを見放し、ミディアン人の手に渡してしまわれました。」 6:14 主は彼の方を向いて言われた。「あなたのその力をもって行くがよい。あなたはイスラエルを、ミディアン人の手から救い出すことができる。わたしがあなたを遣わすのではないか。」 6:15 彼は言った。「わたしの主よ、お願いします。しかし、どうすればイスラエルを救うことができましょう。わたしの一族はマナセの中でも最も貧弱なものです。それにわたしは家族の中でいちばん年下の者です。」 6:16 主は彼に言われた。「わたしがあなたと共にいるから、あなたはミディアン人をあたかも一人の人を倒すように打ち倒すことができる。」 6:17 彼は言った。「もし御目にかないますなら、あなたがわたしにお告げになるのだというしるしを見せてください。 6:18 どうか、わたしが戻って来るまでここを離れないでください。供え物を持って来て、御前におささげしますから。」主は、「あなたが帰って来るまでここにいる」と言われた。 6:19 ギデオンは行って、子山羊一匹、麦粉一エファの酵母を入れないパンを調え、肉を籠に、肉汁を壺に入れ、テレビンの木の下にいる方に差し出した。 6:20 神の御使いは、「肉とパンを取ってこの岩の上に置き、肉汁を注ぎなさい」と言った。ギデオンはそのとおりにした。 6:21 主の御使いは、手にしていた杖の先を差し伸べ、肉とパンに触れた。すると、岩から火が燃え上がり、肉とパンを焼き尽くした。主の御使いは消えていた。 6:22 ギデオンは、この方が主の御使いであることを悟った。ギデオンは言った。「ああ、主なる神よ。わたしは、なんと顔と顔を合わせて主の御使いを見てしまいました。」 6:23 主は彼に言われた。「安心せよ。恐れるな。あなたが死ぬことはない。」 6:24 ギデオンはそこに主のための祭壇を築き、「平和の主」と名付けた。それは今日もなお、アビエゼルのオフラにあってそう呼ばれている。 6:25 その夜、主はギデオンに言われた。「あなたの父の若い雄牛一頭、すなわち七歳になる第二の若い牛を連れ出し、あなたの父のものであるバアルの祭壇を壊し、その傍らのアシェラ像を切り倒せ。 6:26 あなたの神、主のために、この砦の頂上に、よく整えられた祭壇を造り、切り倒したアシェラ像を薪にして、あの第二の雄牛を焼き尽くす献げ物としてささげよ。」 6:27 ギデオンは召し使いの中から十人を選び、主がお命じになったとおりにした。だが、父の家族と町の人々を恐れて日中を避け、夜中にこれを行った。 6:28 翌朝早く町の人々が起きてみると、バアルの祭壇は壊され、その傍らのアシェラ像も切り倒されていた。築かれた祭壇の上に第二の若い牛がささげられているので、 6:29 人々は口々に、「誰がこんなことをしたのか」と言った。尋ねまわってヨアシュの子ギデオンの仕業だということが分かった。 6:30 町の人々はヨアシュに言った。「息子を出せ。息子は殺さねばならない。バアルの祭壇を壊し、傍らのアシェラ像も切り倒した。」 6:31 ヨアシュは、責めたててやまない人々皆に向かって言った。「あなたたちはバアルをかばって争うのか、バアルを救おうとでもいうのか。バアルをかばって争う者は朝とならぬうちに殺される。もしバアルが神なら、自分の祭壇が壊されたのだから、自分で争うだろう。」 6:32 ギデオンがバアルの祭壇を壊したので、「バアルが彼と争うがよい」と言って、父はその日ギデオンをエルバアル（バアルは自ら争う）と呼んだ。 6:33 ミディアン人、アマレク人、東方の諸民族が皆結束して川を渡って来て、イズレエルの平野に陣を敷いた。 6:34 主の霊がギデオンを覆った。ギデオンが角笛を吹くと、アビエゼルは彼に従って集まって来た。 6:35 彼がマナセの隅々にまで使者を送ると、そこの人々もまた彼に従って集まって来た。アシェル、ゼブルン、ナフタリにも使者を遣わすと、彼らも上って来て合流した。 6:36 ギデオンは神にこう言った。「もしお告げになったように、わたしの手によってイスラエルを救おうとなさっているなら、 6:37 羊一匹分の毛を麦打ち場に置きますから、その羊の毛にだけ露を置き、土は全く乾いているようにしてください。そうすれば、お告げになったように、わたしの手によってイスラエルを救おうとなさっていることが納得できます。」 6:38 すると、そのようになった。翌朝早く起き、彼が羊の毛を押さえて、その羊の毛から露を絞り出すと、鉢は水でいっぱいになった。 6:39 ギデオンはまた神に言った。「どうかお怒りにならず、もう一度言わせてください。もう一度だけ羊の毛で試すのを許し、羊の毛だけが乾いていて、土には一面露が置かれているようにしてください。」 6:40 その夜、神はそのようにされた。羊の毛だけは乾いており、土には一面露が置かれていた。
6:1 Then the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord. So the Lord delivered them into the hand of Midian for seven years, 6:2 and the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel. Because of the Midianites, the children of Israel made for themselves the dens, the caves, and the strongholds which are in the mountains. 6:3 So it was, whenever Israel had sown, Midianites would come up; also Amalekites and the people of the East would come up against them. 6:4 Then they would encamp against them and destroy the produce of the earth as far as Gaza, and leave no sustenance for Israel, neither sheep nor ox nor donkey. 6:5 For they would come up with their livestock and their tents, coming in as numerous as locusts; both they and their camels were without number; and they would enter the land to destroy it. 6:6 So Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites, and the children of Israel cried out to the Lord. 6:7 And it came to pass, when the children of Israel cried out to the Lord because of the Midianites, 6:8 that the Lord sent a prophet to the children of Israel, who said to them, "Thus says the Lord God of Israel: 'I brought you up from Egypt and brought you out of the house of bondage; 6:9 'and I delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians and out of the hand of all who oppressed you, and drove them out before you and gave you their land. 6:10 'Also I said to you, "I am the Lord your God; do not fear the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell." But you have not obeyed My voice.' " 6:11 Now the Angel of the Lord came and sat under the terebinth tree which was in Ophrah, which belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, while his son Gideon threshed wheat in the winepress, in order to hide it from the Midianites. 6:12 And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him, and said to him, "The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor!" 6:13 Gideon said to Him, "O my lord, if the Lord is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us about, saying, 'Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt?' But now the Lord has forsaken us and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites." 6:14 Then the Lord turned to him and said, "Go in this might of yours, and you shall save Israel from the hand of the Midianites. Have I not sent you?" 6:15 So he said to Him, "O my Lord, how can I save Israel? Indeed my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house." 6:16 And the Lord said to him, "Surely I will be with you, and you shall defeat the Midianites as one man." 6:17 Then he said to Him, "If now I have found favor in Your sight, then show me a sign that it is You who talk with me. 6:18 "Do not depart from here, I pray, until I come to You and bring out my offering and set it before You." And He said, "I will wait until you come back." 6:19 So Gideon went in and prepared a young goat, and unleavened bread from an ephah of flour. The meat he put in a basket, and he put the broth in a pot; and he brought them out to Him under the terebinth tree and presented them. 6:20 The Angel of God said to him, "Take the meat and the unleavened bread and lay them on this rock, and pour out the broth." And he did so. 6:21 Then the Angel of the Lord put out the end of the staff that was in His hand, and touched the meat and the unleavened bread; and fire rose out of the rock and consumed the meat and the unleavened bread. And the Angel of the Lord departed out of his sight. 6:22 Now Gideon perceived that He was the Angel of the Lord. So Gideon said, "Alas, O Lord God! For I have seen the Angel of the Lord face to face." 6:23 Then the Lord said to him, "Peace be with you; do not fear, you shall not die." 6:24 So Gideon built an altar there to the Lord, and called it The-Lord-Is-Peace. To this day it is still in Ophrah of the Abiezrites. 6:25 Now it came to pass the same night that the Lord said to him, "Take your father's young bull, the second bull of seven years old, and tear down the altar of Baal that your father has, and cut down the wooden image that is beside it; 6:26 "and build an altar to the Lord your God on top of this rock in the proper arrangement, and take the second bull and offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the image which you shall cut down." 6:27 So Gideon took ten men from among his servants and did as the Lord had said to him. But because he feared his father's household and the men of the city too much to do it by day, he did it by night. 6:28 And when the men of the city arose early in the morning, there was the altar of Baal, torn down; and the wooden image that was beside it was cut down, and the second bull was being offered on the altar which had been built. 6:29 So they said to one another, "Who has done this thing?" And when they had inquired and asked, they said, "Gideon the son of Joash has done this thing." 6:30 Then the men of the city said to Joash, "Bring out your son, that he may die, because he has torn down the altar of Baal, and because he has cut down the wooden image that was beside it." 6:31 But Joash said to all who stood against him, "Would you plead for Baal? Would you save him? Let the one who would plead for him be put to death by morning! If he is a god, let him plead for himself, because his altar has been torn down!" 6:32 Therefore on that day he called him Jerubbaal, saying, "Let Baal plead against him, because he has torn down his altar." 6:33 Then all the Midianites and Amalekites, the people of the East, gathered together; and they crossed over and encamped in the Valley of Jezreel. 6:34 But the Spirit of the Lord came upon Gideon; then he blew the trumpet, and the Abiezrites gathered behind him. 6:35 And he sent messengers throughout all Manasseh, who also gathered behind him. He also sent messengers to Asher, Zebulun, and Naphtali; and they came up to meet them. 6:36 So Gideon said to God, "If You will save Israel by my hand as You have said- 6:37 "look, I shall put a fleece of wool on the threshing floor; if there is dew on the fleece only, and it is dry on all the ground, then I shall know that You will save Israel by my hand, as You have said." 6:38 And it was so. When he rose early the next morning and squeezed the fleece together, he wrung the dew out of the fleece, a bowlful of water. 6:39 Then Gideon said to God, "Do not be angry with me, but let me speak just once more: Let me test, I pray, just once more with the fleece; let it now be dry only on the fleece, but on all the ground let there be dew." 6:40 And God did so that night. It was dry on the fleece only, but there was dew on all the ground.
8:1 すぐその後、イエスは神の国を宣べ伝え、その福音を告げ知らせながら、町や村を巡って旅を続けられた。十二人も一緒だった。 8:2 悪霊を追い出して病気をいやしていただいた何人かの婦人たち、すなわち、七つの悪霊を追い出していただいたマグダラの女と呼ばれるマリア、 8:3 ヘロデの家令クザの妻ヨハナ、それにスサンナ、そのほか多くの婦人たちも一緒であった。彼女たちは、自分の持ち物を出し合って、一行に奉仕していた。
8:4 大勢の群衆が集まり、方々の町から人々がそばに来たので、イエスはたとえを用いてお話しになった。 8:5 「種を蒔く人が種蒔きに出て行った。蒔いている間に、ある種は道端に落ち、人に踏みつけられ、空の鳥が食べてしまった。 8:6 ほかの種は石地に落ち、芽は出たが、水気がないので枯れてしまった。 8:7 ほかの種は茨の中に落ち、茨も一緒に伸びて、押しかぶさってしまった。 8:8 また、ほかの種は良い土地に落ち、生え出て、百倍の実を結んだ。」イエスはこのように話して、「聞く耳のある者は聞きなさい」と大声で言われた。
8:9 弟子たちは、このたとえはどんな意味かと尋ねた。 8:10 イエスは言われた。「あなたがたには神の国の秘密を悟ることが許されているが、他の人々にはたとえを用いて話すのだ。それは、／『彼らが見ても見えず、／聞いても理解できない』／ようになるためである。」
8:11 「このたとえの意味はこうである。種は神の言葉である。 8:12 道端のものとは、御言葉を聞くが、信じて救われることのないように、後から悪魔が来て、その心から御言葉を奪い去る人たちである。 8:13 石地のものとは、御言葉を聞くと喜んで受け入れるが、根がないので、しばらくは信じても、試練に遭うと身を引いてしまう人たちのことである。 8:14 そして、茨の中に落ちたのは、御言葉を聞くが、途中で人生の思い煩いや富や快楽に覆いふさがれて、実が熟するまでに至らない人たちである。 8:15 良い土地に落ちたのは、立派な善い心で御言葉を聞き、よく守り、忍耐して実を結ぶ人たちである。」
8:16 「ともし火をともして、それを器で覆い隠したり、寝台の下に置いたりする人はいない。入って来る人に光が見えるように、燭台の上に置く。 8:17 隠れているもので、あらわにならないものはなく、秘められたもので、人に知られず、公にならないものはない。 8:18 だから、どう聞くべきかに注意しなさい。持っている人は更に与えられ、持っていない人は持っていると思うものまでも取り上げられる。」
8:19 さて、イエスのところに母と兄弟たちが来たが、群衆のために近づくことができなかった。 8:20 そこでイエスに、「母上と御兄弟たちが、お会いしたいと外に立っておられます」との知らせがあった。 8:21 するとイエスは、「わたしの母、わたしの兄弟とは、神の言葉を聞いて行う人たちのことである」とお答えになった。
8:22 ある日のこと、イエスが弟子たちと一緒に舟に乗り、「湖の向こう岸に渡ろう」と言われたので、船出した。 8:23 渡って行くうちに、イエスは眠ってしまわれた。突風が湖に吹き降ろして来て、彼らは水をかぶり、危なくなった。 8:24 弟子たちは近寄ってイエスを起こし、「先生、先生、おぼれそうです」と言った。イエスが起き上がって、風と荒波とをお叱りになると、静まって凪になった。 8:25 イエスは、「あなたがたの信仰はどこにあるのか」と言われた。弟子たちは恐れ驚いて、「いったい、この方はどなたなのだろう。命じれば風も波も従うではないか」と互いに言った。
8:1 Now it came to pass, afterward, that He went through every city and village, preaching and bringing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with Him, 8:2 and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities-Mary called Magdalene, out of whom had come seven demons, 8:3 and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others who provided for Him from their substance. 8:4 And when a great multitude had gathered, and they had come to Him from every city, He spoke by a parable: 8:5 "A sower went out to sow his seed. And as he sowed, some fell by the wayside; and it was trampled down, and the birds of the air devoured it. 8:6 "Some fell on rock; and as soon as it sprang up, it withered away because it lacked moisture. 8:7 "And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up with it and choked it. 8:8 "But others fell on good ground, sprang up, and yielded a crop a hundredfold." When He had said these things He cried, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear!" 8:9 Then His disciples asked Him, saying, "What does this parable mean?" 8:10 And He said, "To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest it is given in parables, that'Seeing they may not see,And hearing they may not understand.' 8:11 "Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 8:12 "Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. 8:13 "But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. 8:14 "Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity. 8:15 "But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience. 8:16 "No one, when he has lit a lamp, covers it with a vessel or puts it under a bed, but sets it on a lampstand, that those who enter may see the light. 8:17 "For nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be known and come to light. 8:18 "Therefore take heed how you hear. For whoever has, to him more will be given; and whoever does not have, even what he seems to have will be taken from him." 8:19 Then His mother and brothers came to Him, and could not approach Him because of the crowd. 8:20 And it was told Him by some, who said, "Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, desiring to see You." 8:21 But He answered and said to them, "My mother and My brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it." 8:22 Now it happened, on a certain day, that He got into a boat with His disciples. And He said to them, "Let us cross over to the other side of the lake." And they launched out. 8:23 But as they sailed He fell asleep. And a windstorm came down on the lake, and they were filling with water, and were in jeopardy. 8:24 And they came to Him and awoke Him, saying, "Master, Master, we are perishing!" Then He arose and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water. And they ceased, and there was a calm. 8:25 But He said to them, "Where is your faith?" And they were afraid, and marveled, saying to one another, "Who can this be? For He commands even the winds and water, and they obey Him!"
