13:1 サウルは王となって一年でイスラエル全体の王となり、二年たったとき、 13:2 イスラエルから三千人をえりすぐった。そのうちの二千人をミクマスとベテルの山地で自らのもとに、他の千人をベニヤミンのギブアでヨナタンのもとに置き、残りの民はそれぞれの天幕に帰らせた。 13:3 ヨナタンは、ゲバに配置されていたペリシテの守備隊を打ち破った。ペリシテ人はそれを伝え聞いた。他方、サウルも国中に角笛を吹き鳴らして言った。「ヘブライ人よ、聞け。」 13:4 全イスラエルは、サウルがペリシテの守備隊を打ち破ったこと、イスラエルがペリシテ人の憎しみをかうことになったということを知った。民はギルガルのサウルのもとに呼び集められた。 13:5 ペリシテ軍は、イスラエルと戦うために集結した。その戦車は三万、騎兵は六千、兵士は海辺の砂のように多かった。彼らは上って来て、ベト・アベンの東、ミクマスに陣を敷いた。 13:6 イスラエルの人々は、自分たちが苦境に陥り、一人一人に危険が迫っているのを見て、洞窟、岩の裂け目、岩陰、穴蔵、井戸などに身を隠した。 13:7 ヨルダン川を渡り、ガドやギレアドの地に逃げ延びたヘブライ人もあった。しかし、サウルはギルガルに踏みとどまり、従う兵は皆、サウルの後ろでおののいていた。 13:8 サウルは、サムエルが命じたように、七日間待った。だが、サムエルはギルガルに来なかった。兵はサウルのもとから散り始めた。 13:9 サウルは、「焼き尽くす献げ物と和解の献げ物を持って来なさい」と命じて、焼き尽くす献げ物をささげた。 13:10 焼き尽くす献げ物をささげ終えたそのとき、サムエルが到着した。サウルは彼に挨拶しようと迎えに出た。 13:11 サムエルは言った。「あなたは何をしたのか。」サウルは答えた。「兵士がわたしから離れて散って行くのが目に見えているのに、あなたは約束の日に来てくださらない。しかも、ペリシテ軍はミクマスに集結しているのです。 13:12 ペリシテ軍がギルガルのわたしに向かって攻め下ろうとしている。それなのに、わたしはまだ主に嘆願していないと思ったので、わたしはあえて焼き尽くす献げ物をささげました。」 13:13 サムエルはサウルに言った。「あなたは愚かなことをした。あなたの神、主がお与えになった戒めを守っていれば、主はあなたの王権をイスラエルの上にいつまでも確かなものとしてくださっただろうに。 13:14 しかし、今となっては、あなたの王権は続かない。主は御心に適う人を求めて、その人を御自分の民の指導者として立てられる。主がお命じになったことをあなたが守らなかったからだ。」 13:15 サムエルは立ち上がり、ギルガルからベニヤミンのギブアに上って行った。サウルは、自分のもとにいた兵士を数えた。およそ六百人であった。 13:16 サウル、息子ヨナタン、そして彼らの指揮下にいる兵はベニヤミンのゲバにとどまった。ペリシテ軍はミクマスに陣を敷いていた。 13:17 ペリシテ軍の陣営からは遊撃隊が三隊に分かれて出て来た。一隊はオフラへ通じる道をシュアルの地に向かい、 13:18 一隊はベト・ホロンへ通じる道に向かい、残る一隊は荒れ野の方角、ツェボイムの谷を見下ろす、国境に通じる道に向かった。 13:19 さて、イスラエルにはどこにも鍛冶屋がいなかった。ヘブライ人に剣や槍を作らせてはいけないとペリシテ人が考えたからである。 13:20 それで、イスラエルの人が鋤や鍬や斧や鎌を研いでもらうためには、ペリシテ人のところへ下るほかなかった。 13:21 鋤や鍬や三つまたの矛や斧の研ぎ料、突き棒の修理料は一ピムであった。 13:22 こういうわけで、戦いの日にも、サウルとヨナタンの指揮下の兵士はだれも剣や槍を手にしていなかった。持っているのはサウルとその子ヨナタンだけであった。 13:23 ペリシテ軍の先陣は、ミクマスの渡しまで進んで来た。
13:1 Saul reigned one year; and when he had reigned two years over Israel, 13:2 Saul chose for himself three thousand men of Israel. Two thousand were with Saul in Michmash and in the mountains of Bethel, and a thousand were with Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin. The rest of the people he sent away, every man to his tent. 13:3 And Jonathan attacked the garrison of the Philistines that was in Geba, and the Philistines heard of it. Then Saul blew the trumpet throughout all the land, saying, "Let the Hebrews hear!" 13:4 Now all Israel heard it said that Saul had attacked a garrison of the Philistines, and that Israel had also become an abomination to the Philistines. And the people were called together to Saul at Gilgal. 13:5 Then the Philistines gathered together to fight with Israel, thirty thousand chariots and six thousand horsemen, and people as the sand which is on the seashore in multitude. And they came up and encamped in Michmash, to the east of Beth Aven. 13:6 When the men of Israel saw that they were in danger (for the people were distressed), then the people hid in caves, in thickets, in rocks, in holes, and in pits. 13:7 And some of the Hebrews crossed over the Jordan to the land of Gad and Gilead. As for Saul, he was still in Gilgal, and all the people followed him trembling. 13:8 Then he waited seven days, according to the time set by Samuel. But Samuel did not come to Gilgal; and the people were scattered from him. 13:9 So Saul said, "Bring a burnt offering and peace offerings here to me." And he offered the burnt offering. 13:10 Now it happened, as soon as he had finished presenting the burnt offering, that Samuel came; and Saul went out to meet him, that he might greet him. 13:11 And Samuel said, "What have you done?" And Saul said, "When I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that you did not come within the days appointed, and that the Philistines gathered together at Michmash, 13:12 "then I said, 'The Philistines will now come down on me at Gilgal, and I have not made supplication to the Lord.' Therefore I felt compelled, and offered a burnt offering." 13:13 And Samuel said to Saul, "You have done foolishly. You have not kept the commandment of the Lord your God, which He commanded you. For now the Lord would have established your kingdom over Israel forever. 13:14 "But now your kingdom shall not continue. The Lord has sought for Himself a man after His own heart, and the Lord has commanded him to be commander over His people, because you have not kept what the Lord commanded you." 13:15 Then Samuel arose and went up from Gilgal to Gibeah of Benjamin. And Saul numbered the people present with him, about six hundred men. 13:16 Saul, Jonathan his son, and the people present with them remained in Gibeah of Benjamin. But the Philistines encamped in Michmash. 13:17 Then raiders came out of the camp of the Philistines in three companies. One company turned to the road to Ophrah, to the land of Shual, 13:18 another company turned to the road to Beth Horon, and another company turned to the road of the border that overlooks the Valley of Zeboim toward the wilderness. 13:19 Now there was no blacksmith to be found throughout all the land of Israel, for the Philistines said, "Lest the Hebrews make swords or spears." 13:20 But all the Israelites would go down to the Philistines to sharpen each man's plowshare, his mattock, his ax, and his sickle; 13:21 and the charge for a sharpening was a pim for the plowshares, the mattocks, the forks, and the axes, and to set the points of the goads. 13:22 So it came about, on the day of battle, that there was neither sword nor spear found in the hand of any of the people who were with Saul and Jonathan. But they were found with Saul and Jonathan his son. 13:23 And the garrison of the Philistines went out to the pass of Michmash.
20:19 そのとき、律法学者たちや祭司長たちは、イエスが自分たちに当てつけてこのたとえを話されたと気づいたので、イエスに手を下そうとしたが、民衆を恐れた。
20:20 そこで、機会をねらっていた彼らは、正しい人を装う回し者を遣わし、イエスの言葉じりをとらえ、総督の支配と権力にイエスを渡そうとした。 20:21 回し者らはイエスに尋ねた。「先生、わたしたちは、あなたがおっしゃることも、教えてくださることも正しく、また、えこひいきなしに、真理に基づいて神の道を教えておられることを知っています。 20:22 ところで、わたしたちが皇帝に税金を納めるのは、律法に適っているでしょうか、適っていないでしょうか。」 20:23 イエスは彼らのたくらみを見抜いて言われた。 20:24 「デナリオン銀貨を見せなさい。そこには、だれの肖像と銘があるか。」彼らが「皇帝のものです」と言うと、 20:25 イエスは言われた。「それならば、皇帝のものは皇帝に、神のものは神に返しなさい。」 20:26 彼らは民衆の前でイエスの言葉じりをとらえることができず、その答えに驚いて黙ってしまった。
20:27 さて、復活があることを否定するサドカイ派の人々が何人か近寄って来て、イエスに尋ねた。 20:28 「先生、モーセはわたしたちのために書いています。『ある人の兄が妻をめとり、子がなくて死んだ場合、その弟は兄嫁と結婚して、兄の跡継ぎをもうけねばならない』と。 20:29 ところで、七人の兄弟がいました。長男が妻を迎えましたが、子がないまま死にました。 20:30 次男、 20:31 三男と次々にこの女を妻にしましたが、七人とも同じように子供を残さないで死にました。 20:32 最後にその女も死にました。 20:33 すると復活の時、その女はだれの妻になるのでしょうか。七人ともその女を妻にしたのです。」 20:34 イエスは言われた。「この世の子らはめとったり嫁いだりするが、 20:35 次の世に入って死者の中から復活するのにふさわしいとされた人々は、めとることも嫁ぐこともない。 20:36 この人たちは、もはや死ぬことがない。天使に等しい者であり、復活にあずかる者として、神の子だからである。 20:37 死者が復活することは、モーセも『柴』の個所で、主をアブラハムの神、イサクの神、ヤコブの神と呼んで、示している。 20:38 神は死んだ者の神ではなく、生きている者の神なのだ。すべての人は、神によって生きているからである。」 20:39 そこで、律法学者の中には、「先生、立派なお答えです」と言う者もいた。 20:40 彼らは、もはや何もあえて尋ねようとはしなかった。
20:41 イエスは彼らに言われた。「どうして人々は、『メシアはダビデの子だ』と言うのか。 20:42 ダビデ自身が詩編の中で言っている。『主は、わたしの主にお告げになった。「わたしの右の座に着きなさい。 20:43 わたしがあなたの敵を／あなたの足台とするときまで」と。』 20:44 このようにダビデがメシアを主と呼んでいるのに、どうしてメシアがダビデの子なのか。」
20:45 民衆が皆聞いているとき、イエスは弟子たちに言われた。 20:46 「律法学者に気をつけなさい。彼らは長い衣をまとって歩き回りたがり、また、広場で挨拶されること、会堂では上席、宴会では上座に座ることを好む。 20:47 そして、やもめの家を食い物にし、見せかけの長い祈りをする。このような者たちは、人一倍厳しい裁きを受けることになる。」
20:19 And the chief priests and the scribes that very hour sought to lay hands on Him, but they feared the people-for they knew He had spoken this parable against them. 20:20 So they watched Him, and sent spies who pretended to be righteous, that they might seize on His words, in order to deliver Him to the power and the authority of the governor. 20:21 Then they asked Him, saying, "Teacher, we know that You say and teach rightly, and You do not show personal favoritism, but teach the way of God in truth: 20:22 "Is it lawful for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?" 20:23 But He perceived their craftiness, and said to them, "Why do you test Me? 20:24 "Show Me a denarius. Whose image and inscription does it have?" They answered and said, "Caesar's." 20:25 And He said to them, "Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." 20:26 But they could not catch Him in His words in the presence of the people. And they marveled at His answer and kept silent. 20:27 Then some of the Sadducees, who deny that there is a resurrection, came to Him and asked Him, 20:28 saying: "Teacher, Moses wrote to us that if a man's brother dies, having a wife, and he dies without children, his brother should take his wife and raise up offspring for his brother. 20:29 "Now there were seven brothers. And the first took a wife, and died without children. 20:30 "And the second took her as wife, and he died childless. 20:31 "Then the third took her, and in like manner the seven also; and they left no children, and died. 20:32 "Last of all the woman died also. 20:33 "Therefore, in the resurrection, whose wife does she become? For all seven had her as wife." 20:34 And Jesus answered and said to them, "The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage. 20:35 "But those who are counted worthy to attain that age, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry nor are given in marriage; 20:36 "nor can they die anymore, for they are equal to the angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection. 20:37 "But even Moses showed in the burning bush passage that the dead are raised, when he called the Lord 'the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.' 20:38 "For He is not the God of the dead but of the living, for all live to Him." 20:39 Then some of the scribes answered and said, "Teacher, You have spoken well." 20:40 But after that they dared not question Him anymore. 20:41 And He said to them, "How can they say that the Christ is the Son of David? 20:42 "Now David himself said in the Book of Psalms:'The Lord said to my Lord,"Sit at My right hand, 20:43 Till I make Your enemies Your footstool." ' 20:44 "Therefore David calls Him 'Lord'; how is He then his Son?" 20:45 Then, in the hearing of all the people, He said to His disciples, 20:46 "Beware of the scribes, who desire to go around in long robes, love greetings in the marketplaces, the best seats in the synagogues, and the best places at feasts, 20:47 "who devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. These will receive greater condemnation."
