18:1 Now when he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. 18:2 Saul took him that day, and would not let him go home to his father's house anymore. 18:3 Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul. 18:4 And Jonathan took off the robe that was on him and gave it to David, with his armor, even to his sword and his bow and his belt. 18:5 So David went out wherever Saul sent him, and behaved wisely. And Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people and also in the sight of Saul's servants. 18:6 Now it had happened as they were coming home, when David was returning from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women had come out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet King Saul, with tambourines, with joy, and with musical instruments. 18:7 So the women sang as they danced, and said:"Saul has slain his thousands,And David his ten thousands." 18:8 Then Saul was very angry, and the saying displeased him; and he said, "They have ascribed to David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed only thousands. Now what more can he have but the kingdom?" 18:9 So Saul eyed David from that day forward. 18:10 And it happened on the next day that the distressing spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied inside the house. So David played music with his hand, as at other times; but there was a spear in Saul's hand. 18:11 And Saul cast the spear, for he said, "I will pin David to the wall!" But David escaped his presence twice. 18:12 Now Saul was afraid of David, because the Lord was with him, but had departed from Saul. 18:13 Therefore Saul removed him from his presence, and made him his captain over a thousand; and he went out and came in before the people. 18:14 And David behaved wisely in all his ways, and the Lord was with him. 18:15 Therefore, when Saul saw that he behaved very wisely, he was afraid of him. 18:16 But all Israel and Judah loved David, because he went out and came in before them. 18:17 Then Saul said to David, "Here is my older daughter Merab; I will give her to you as a wife. Only be valiant for me, and fight the Lord's battles." For Saul thought, "Let my hand not be against him, but let the hand of the Philistines be against him." 18:18 So David said to Saul, "Who am I, and what is my life or my father's family in Israel, that I should be son-in-law to the king?" 18:19 But it happened at the time when Merab, Saul's daughter, should have been given to David, that she was given to Adriel the Meholathite as a wife. 18:20 Now Michal, Saul's daughter, loved David. And they told Saul, and the thing pleased him. 18:21 So Saul said, "I will give her to him, that she may be a snare to him, and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him." Therefore Saul said to David a second time, "You shall be my son-in-law today." 18:22 And Saul commanded his servants, "Communicate with David secretly, and say, 'Look, the king has delight in you, and all his servants love you. Now therefore, become the king's son-in-law.' " 18:23 So Saul's servants spoke those words in the hearing of David. And David said, "Does it seem to you a light thing to be a king's son-in-law, seeing I am a poor and lightly esteemed man?" 18:24 And the servants of Saul told him, saying, "In this manner David spoke." 18:25 Then Saul said, "Thus you shall say to David: 'The king does not desire any dowry but one hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to take vengeance on the king's enemies.' " But Saul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines. 18:26 So when his servants told David these words, it pleased David well to become the king's son-in-law. Now the days had not expired; 18:27 therefore David arose and went, he and his men, and killed two hundred men of the Philistines. And David brought their foreskins, and they gave them in full count to the king, that he might become the king's son-in-law. Then Saul gave him Michal his daughter as a wife. 18:28 Thus Saul saw and knew that the Lord was with David, and that Michal, Saul's daughter, loved him; 18:29 and Saul was still more afraid of David. So Saul became David's enemy continually. 18:30 Then the princes of the Philistines went out to war. And so it was, whenever they went out, that David behaved more wisely than all the servants of Saul, so that his name became highly esteemed.

22:54 人々はイエスを捕らえ、引いて行き、大祭司の家に連れて入った。ペトロは遠く離れて従った。 22:55 人々が屋敷の中庭の中央に火をたいて、一緒に座っていたので、ペトロも中に混じって腰を下ろした。 22:56 するとある女中が、ペトロがたき火に照らされて座っているのを目にして、じっと見つめ、「この人も一緒にいました」と言った。 22:57 しかし、ペトロはそれを打ち消して、「わたしはあの人を知らない」と言った。 22:58 少したってから、ほかの人がペトロを見て、「お前もあの連中の仲間だ」と言うと、ペトロは、「いや、そうではない」と言った。 22:59 一時間ほどたつと、また別の人が、「確かにこの人も一緒だった。ガリラヤの者だから」と言い張った。 22:60 だが、ペトロは、「あなたの言うことは分からない」と言った。まだこう言い終わらないうちに、突然鶏が鳴いた。 22:61 主は振り向いてペトロを見つめられた。ペトロは、「今日、鶏が鳴く前に、あなたは三度わたしを知らないと言うだろう」と言われた主の言葉を思い出した。 22:62 そして外に出て、激しく泣いた。
22:63 さて、見張りをしていた者たちは、イエスを侮辱したり殴ったりした。 22:64 そして目隠しをして、「お前を殴ったのはだれか。言い当ててみろ」と尋ねた。 22:65 そのほか、さまざまなことを言ってイエスをののしった。
22:66 夜が明けると、民の長老会、祭司長たちや律法学者たちが集まった。そして、イエスを最高法院に連れ出して、 22:67 「お前がメシアなら、そうだと言うがよい」と言った。イエスは言われた。「わたしが言っても、あなたたちは決して信じないだろう。 22:68 わたしが尋ねても、決して答えないだろう。 22:69 しかし、今から後、人の子は全能の神の右に座る。」 22:70 そこで皆の者が、「では、お前は神の子か」と言うと、イエスは言われた。「わたしがそうだとは、あなたたちが言っている。」 22:71 人々は、「これでもまだ証言が必要だろうか。我々は本人の口から聞いたのだ」と言った。
22:47 And while He was still speaking, behold, a multitude; and he who was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them and drew near to Jesus to kiss Him. 22:48 But Jesus said to him, "Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?" 22:49 When those around Him saw what was going to happen, they said to Him, "Lord, shall we strike with the sword?" 22:50 And one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear. 22:51 But Jesus answered and said, "Permit even this." And He touched his ear and healed him. 22:52 Then Jesus said to the chief priests, captains of the temple, and the elders who had come to Him, "Have you come out, as against a robber, with swords and clubs? 22:53 "When I was with you daily in the temple, you did not try to seize Me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness." 22:54 Having arrested Him, they led Him and brought Him into the high priest's house. But Peter followed at a distance. 22:55 Now when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat among them. 22:56 And a certain servant girl, seeing him as he sat by the fire, looked intently at him and said, "This man was also with Him." 22:57 But he denied Him, saying, "Woman, I do not know Him." 22:58 And after a little while another saw him and said, "You also are of them." But Peter said, "Man, I am not!" 22:59 Then after about an hour had passed, another confidently affirmed, saying, "Surely this fellow also was with Him, for he is a Galilean." 22:60 But Peter said, "Man, I do not know what you are saying!" Immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed. 22:61 And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He had said to him, "Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times." 22:62 So Peter went out and wept bitterly. 22:63 Now the men who held Jesus mocked Him and beat Him. 22:64 And having blindfolded Him, they struck Him on the face and asked Him, saying, "Prophesy! Who is the one who struck You?" 22:65 And many other things they blasphemously spoke against Him. 22:66 As soon as it was day, the elders of the people, both chief priests and scribes, came together and led Him into their council, saying, 22:67 "If You are the Christ, tell us." But He said to them, "If I tell you, you will by no means believe. 22:68 "And if I also ask you, you will by no means answer Me or let Me go. 22:69 "Hereafter the Son of Man will sit on the right hand of the power of God." 22:70 Then they all said, "Are You then the Son of God?" So He said to them, "You rightly say that I am." 22:71 And they said, "What further testimony do we need? For we have heard it ourselves from His own mouth."
