1:7 故国ユダに帰る道すがら、 1:8 ナオミは二人の嫁に言った。「自分の里に帰りなさい。あなたたちは死んだ息子にもわたしにもよく尽くしてくれた。どうか主がそれに報い、あなたたちに慈しみを垂れてくださいますように。 1:9 どうか主がそれぞれに新しい嫁ぎ先を与え、あなたたちが安らぎを得られますように。」ナオミが二人に別れの口づけをすると、二人は声をあげて泣いて、 1:10 言った。「いいえ、御一緒にあなたの民のもとへ帰ります。」 1:11 ナオミは言った。「わたしの娘たちよ、帰りなさい。どうしてついて来るのですか。あなたたちの夫になるような子供がわたしの胎内にまだいるとでも思っているのですか。 1:12 わたしの娘たちよ、帰りなさい。わたしはもう年をとって、再婚などできはしません。たとえ、まだ望みがあると考えて、今夜にでもだれかのもとに嫁ぎ、子供を産んだとしても、 1:13 その子たちが大きくなるまであなたたちは待つつもりですか。それまで嫁がずに過ごすつもりですか。わたしの娘たちよ、それはいけません。あなたたちよりもわたしの方がはるかにつらいのです。主の御手がわたしに下されたのですから。」 1:14 二人はまた声をあげて泣いた。オルパはやがて、しゅうとめに別れの口づけをしたが、ルツはすがりついて離れなかった。 1:15 ナオミは言った。「あのとおり、あなたの相嫁は自分の民、自分の神のもとへ帰って行こうとしている。あなたも後を追って行きなさい。」 1:16 ルツは言った。「あなたを見捨て、あなたに背を向けて帰れなどと、そんなひどいことを強いないでください。わたしは、あなたの行かれる所に行き／お泊まりになる所に泊まります。あなたの民はわたしの民／あなたの神はわたしの神。 1:17 あなたの亡くなる所でわたしも死に／そこに葬られたいのです。死んでお別れするのならともかく、そのほかのことであなたを離れるようなことをしたなら、主よ、どうかわたしを幾重にも罰してください。」 1:18 同行の決意が固いのを見て、ナオミはルツを説き伏せることをやめた。 1:19 二人は旅を続け、ついにベツレヘムに着いた。
1:19 ベツレヘムに着いてみると、町中が二人のことでどよめき、女たちが、ナオミさんではありませんかと声をかけてくると、 1:20 ナオミは言った。「どうか、ナオミ（快い）などと呼ばないで、マラ（苦い）と呼んでください。全能者がわたしをひどい目に遭わせたのです。 1:21 出て行くときは、満たされていたわたしを／主はうつろにして帰らせたのです。なぜ、快い（ナオミ）などと呼ぶのですか。主がわたしを悩ませ／全能者がわたしを不幸に落とされたのに。」 1:22 ナオミはこうして、モアブ生まれの嫁ルツを連れてモアブの野を去り、帰って来た。二人がベツレヘムに着いたのは、大麦の刈り入れの始まるころであった。
1:1 Now it came to pass, in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehem, Judah, went to dwell in the country of Moab, he and his wife and his two sons. 1:2 The name of the man was Elimelech, the name of his wife was Naomi, and the names of his two sons were Mahlon and Chilion-Ephrathites of Bethlehem, Judah. And they went to the country of Moab and remained there. 1:3 Then Elimelech, Naomi's husband, died; and she was left, and her two sons. 1:4 Now they took wives of the women of Moab: the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth. And they dwelt there about ten years. 1:5 Then both Mahlon and Chilion also died; so the woman survived her two sons and her husband. 1:6 Then she arose with her daughters-in-law that she might return from the country of Moab, for she had heard in the country of Moab that the Lord had visited His people by giving them bread. 1:7 Therefore she went out from the place where she was, and her two daughters-in-law with her; and they went on the way to return to the land of Judah. 1:8 And Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, "Go, return each to her mother's house. The Lord deal kindly with you, as you have dealt with the dead and with me. 1:9 "The Lord grant that you may find rest, each in the house of her husband." Then she kissed them, and they lifted up their voices and wept. 1:10 And they said to her, "Surely we will return with you to your people." 1:11 But Naomi said, "Turn back, my daughters; why will you go with me? Are there still sons in my womb, that they may be your husbands? 1:12 "Turn back, my daughters, go-for I am too old to have a husband. If I should say I have hope, if I should have a husband tonight and should also bear sons, 1:13 "would you wait for them till they were grown? Would you restrain yourselves from having husbands? No, my daughters; for it grieves me very much for your sakes that the hand of the Lord has gone out against me!" 1:14 Then they lifted up their voices and wept again; and Orpah kissed her mother-in-law, but Ruth clung to her. 1:15 And she said, "Look, your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and to her gods; return after your sister-in-law." 1:16 But Ruth said:"Entreat me not to leave you,Or to turn back from following after you;For wherever you go, I will go;And wherever you lodge, I will lodge;Your people shall be my people,And your God, my God. 1:17 Where you die, I will die,And there will I be buried.The Lord do so to me, and more also,If anything but death parts you and me." 1:18 When she saw that she was determined to go with her, she stopped speaking to her. 1:19 Now the two of them went until they came to Bethlehem. And it happened, when they had come to Bethlehem, that all the city was excited because of them; and the women said, "Is this Naomi?" 1:20 But she said to them, "Do not call me Naomi; call me Mara, for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me. 1:21 "I went out full, and the Lord has brought me home again empty. Why do you call me Naomi, since the Lord has testified against me, and the Almighty has afflicted me?" 1:22 So Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabitess her daughter-in-law with her, who returned from the country of Moab. Now they came to Bethlehem at the beginning of barley harvest.
14:25 大勢の群衆が一緒について来たが、イエスは振り向いて言われた。 14:26 「もし、だれかがわたしのもとに来るとしても、父、母、妻、子供、兄弟、姉妹を、更に自分の命であろうとも、これを憎まないなら、わたしの弟子ではありえない。 14:27 自分の十字架を背負ってついて来る者でなければ、だれであれ、わたしの弟子ではありえない。 14:28 あなたがたのうち、塔を建てようとするとき、造り上げるのに十分な費用があるかどうか、まず腰をすえて計算しない者がいるだろうか。 14:29 そうしないと、土台を築いただけで完成できず、見ていた人々は皆あざけって、 14:30 『あの人は建て始めたが、完成することはできなかった』と言うだろう。 14:31 また、どんな王でも、ほかの王と戦いに行こうとするときは、二万の兵を率いて進軍して来る敵を、自分の一万の兵で迎え撃つことができるかどうか、まず腰をすえて考えてみないだろうか。 14:32 もしできないと分かれば、敵がまだ遠方にいる間に使節を送って、和を求めるだろう。 14:33 だから、同じように、自分の持ち物を一切捨てないならば、あなたがたのだれ一人としてわたしの弟子ではありえない。」
14:34 「確かに塩は良いものだ。だが、塩も塩気がなくなれば、その塩は何によって味が付けられようか。 14:35 畑にも肥料にも、役立たず、外に投げ捨てられるだけだ。聞く耳のある者は聞きなさい。」
14:25 Now great multitudes went with Him. And He turned and said to them, 14:26 "If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. 14:27 "And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. 14:28 "For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it- 14:29 "lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, 14:30 "saying, 'This man began to build and was not able to finish.' 14:31 "Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? 14:32 "Or else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks conditions of peace. 14:33 "So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple. 14:34 "Salt is good; but if the salt has lost its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? 14:35 "It is neither fit for the land nor for the dunghill, but men throw it out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!"
