11:1 年が改まり、王たちが出陣する時期になった。ダビデは、ヨアブとその指揮下においた自分の家臣、そしてイスラエルの全軍を送り出した。彼らはアンモン人を滅ぼし、ラバを包囲した。しかしダビデ自身はエルサレムにとどまっていた。 11:2 ある日の夕暮れに、ダビデは午睡から起きて、王宮の屋上を散歩していた。彼は屋上から、一人の女が水を浴びているのを目に留めた。女は大層美しかった。 11:3 ダビデは人をやって女のことを尋ねさせた。それはエリアムの娘バト・シェバで、ヘト人ウリヤの妻だということであった。 11:4 ダビデは使いの者をやって彼女を召し入れ、彼女が彼のもとに来ると、床を共にした。彼女は汚れから身を清めたところであった。女は家に帰ったが、 11:5 子を宿したので、ダビデに使いを送り、「子を宿しました」と知らせた。 11:6 ダビデはヨアブに、ヘト人ウリヤを送り返すように命令を出し、ヨアブはウリヤをダビデのもとに送った。 11:7 ウリヤが来ると、ダビデはヨアブの安否、兵士の安否を問い、また戦況について尋ねた。 11:8 それからダビデはウリヤに言った。「家に帰って足を洗うがよい。」ウリヤが王宮を退出すると、王の贈り物が後に続いた。 11:9 しかしウリヤは王宮の入り口で主君の家臣と共に眠り、家に帰らなかった。 11:10 ウリヤが自分の家に帰らなかったと知らされたダビデは、ウリヤに尋ねた。「遠征から帰って来たのではないか。なぜ家に帰らないのか。」 11:11 ウリヤはダビデに答えた。「神の箱も、イスラエルもユダも仮小屋に宿り、わたしの主人ヨアブも主君の家臣たちも野営していますのに、わたしだけが家に帰って飲み食いしたり、妻と床を共にしたりできるでしょうか。あなたは確かに生きておられます。わたしには、そのようなことはできません。」 11:12 ダビデはウリヤに言った。「今日もここにとどまるがよい。明日、お前を送り出すとしよう。」ウリヤはその日と次の日、エルサレムにとどまった。 11:13 ダビデはウリヤを招き、食事を共にして酔わせたが、夕暮れになるとウリヤは退出し、主君の家臣たちと共に眠り、家には帰らなかった。 11:14 翌朝、ダビデはヨアブにあてて書状をしたため、ウリヤに託した。 11:15 書状には、「ウリヤを激しい戦いの最前線に出し、彼を残して退却し、戦死させよ」と書かれていた。 11:16 町の様子を見張っていたヨアブは、強力な戦士がいると判断した辺りにウリヤを配置した。 11:17 町の者たちは出撃してヨアブの軍と戦い、ダビデの家臣と兵士から戦死者が出た。ヘト人ウリヤも死んだ。 11:18 ヨアブはダビデにこの戦いの一部始終について報告を送り、 11:19 使者に命じた。「戦いの一部始終を王に報告し終えたとき、 11:20 もし王が怒って、『なぜそんなに町に接近して戦ったのか。城壁の上から射かけてくると分かっていたはずだ。 11:21 昔、エルベシェトの子アビメレクを討ち取ったのは誰だったか。あの男がテベツで死んだのは、女が城壁の上から石臼を投げつけたからではないか。なぜそんなに城壁に接近したのだ』と言われたなら、『王の僕ヘト人ウリヤも死にました』と言うがよい。」 11:22 使者は出発し、ダビデのもとに到着してヨアブの伝言をすべて伝えた。 11:23 使者はダビデに言った。「敵は我々より優勢で、野戦を挑んで来ました。我々が城門の入り口まで押し返すと、 11:24 射手が城壁の上から僕らに矢を射かけ、王の家臣からも死んだ者が出、王の僕ヘト人ウリヤも死にました。」 11:25 ダビデは使者に言った。「ヨアブにこう伝えよ。『そのことを悪かったと見なす必要はない。剣があればだれかが餌食になる。奮戦して町を滅ぼせ。』そう言って彼を励ませ。」 11:26 ウリヤの妻は夫ウリヤが死んだと聞くと、夫のために嘆いた。 11:27 喪が明けると、ダビデは人をやって彼女を王宮に引き取り、妻にした。彼女は男の子を産んだ。ダビデのしたことは主の御心に適わなかった。
11:1 It happened in the spring of the year, at the time when kings go out to battle, that David sent Joab and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the people of Ammon and besieged Rabbah. But David remained at Jerusalem. 11:2 Then it happened one evening that David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king's house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to behold. 11:3 So David sent and inquired about the woman. And someone said, "Is this not Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?" 11:4 Then David sent messengers, and took her; and she came to him, and he lay with her, for she was cleansed from her impurity; and she returned to her house. 11:5 And the woman conceived; so she sent and told David, and said, "I am with child." 11:6 Then David sent to Joab, saying, "Send me Uriah the Hittite." And Joab sent Uriah to David. 11:7 When Uriah had come to him, David asked how Joab was doing, and how the people were doing, and how the war prospered. 11:8 And David said to Uriah, "Go down to your house and wash your feet." So Uriah departed from the king's house, and a gift of food from the king followed him. 11:9 But Uriah slept at the door of the king's house with all the servants of his lord, and did not go down to his house. 11:10 So when they told David, saying, "Uriah did not go down to his house," David said to Uriah, "Did you not come from a journey? Why did you not go down to your house?" 11:11 And Uriah said to David, "The ark and Israel and Judah are dwelling in tents, and my lord Joab and the servants of my lord are encamped in the open fields. Shall I then go to my house to eat and drink, and to lie with my wife? As you live, and as your soul lives, I will not do this thing." 11:12 Then David said to Uriah, "Wait here today also, and tomorrow I will let you depart." So Uriah remained in Jerusalem that day and the next. 11:13 Now when David called him, he ate and drank before him; and he made him drunk. And at evening he went out to lie on his bed with the servants of his lord, but he did not go down to his house. 11:14 In the morning it happened that David wrote a letter to Joab and sent it by the hand of Uriah. 11:15 And he wrote in the letter, saying, "Set Uriah in the forefront of the hottest battle, and retreat from him, that he may be struck down and die." 11:16 So it was, while Joab besieged the city, that he assigned Uriah to a place where he knew there were valiant men. 11:17 Then the men of the city came out and fought with Joab. And some of the people of the servants of David fell; and Uriah the Hittite died also. 11:18 Then Joab sent and told David all the things concerning the war, 11:19 and charged the messenger, saying, "When you have finished telling the matters of the war to the king, 11:20 if it happens that the king's wrath rises, and he says to you: 'Why did you approach so near to the city when you fought? Did you not know that they would shoot from the wall? 11:21 'Who struck Abimelech the son of Jerubbesheth? Was it not a woman who cast a piece of a millstone on him from the wall, so that he died in Thebez? Why did you go near the wall?'-then you shall say, 'Your servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.' " 11:22 So the messenger went, and came and told David all that Joab had sent by him. 11:23 And the messenger said to David, "Surely the men prevailed against us and came out to us in the field; then we drove them back as far as the entrance of the gate. 11:24 "The archers shot from the wall at your servants; and some of the king's servants are dead, and your servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also." 11:25 Then David said to the messenger, "Thus you shall say to Joab: 'Do not let this thing displease you, for the sword devours one as well as another. Strengthen your attack against the city, and overthrow it.' So encourage him." 11:26 When the wife of Uriah heard that Uriah her husband was dead, she mourned for her husband. 11:27 And when her mourning was over, David sent and brought her to his house, and she became his wife and bore him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased the Lord.
103:1 【ダビデの詩。】わたしの魂よ、主をたたえよ。わたしの内にあるものはこぞって／聖なる御名をたたえよ。 103:2 わたしの魂よ、主をたたえよ。主の御計らいを何ひとつ忘れてはならない。 103:3 主はお前の罪をことごとく赦し／病をすべて癒し 103:4 命を墓から贖い出してくださる。慈しみと憐れみの冠を授け 103:5 長らえる限り良いものに満ち足らせ／鷲のような若さを新たにしてくださる。 103:6 主はすべて虐げられている人のために／恵みの御業と裁きを行われる。 103:7 主は御自分の道をモーセに／御業をイスラエルの子らに示された。 103:8 主は憐れみ深く、恵みに富み／忍耐強く、慈しみは大きい。 103:9 永久に責めることはなく／とこしえに怒り続けられることはない。 103:10 主はわたしたちを／罪に応じてあしらわれることなく／わたしたちの悪に従って報いられることもない。 103:11 天が地を超えて高いように／慈しみは主を畏れる人を超えて大きい。 103:12 東が西から遠い程／わたしたちの背きの罪を遠ざけてくださる。 103:13 父がその子を憐れむように／主は主を畏れる人を憐れんでくださる。 103:14 主はわたしたちを／どのように造るべきか知っておられた。わたしたちが塵にすぎないことを／御心に留めておられる。 103:15 人の生涯は草のよう。野の花のように咲く。 103:16 風がその上に吹けば、消えうせ／生えていた所を知る者もなくなる。 103:17 主の慈しみは世々とこしえに／主を畏れる人の上にあり／恵みの御業は子らの子らに 103:18 主の契約を守る人／命令を心に留めて行う人に及ぶ。 103:19 主は天に御座を固く据え／主権をもってすべてを統治される。 103:20 御使いたちよ、主をたたえよ／主の語られる声を聞き／御言葉を成し遂げるものよ／力ある勇士たちよ。 103:21 主の万軍よ、主をたたえよ／御もとに仕え、御旨を果たすものよ。 103:22 主に造られたものはすべて、主をたたえよ／主の統治されるところの、どこにあっても。わたしの魂よ、主をたたえよ。
103:1 Bless the Lord, O my soul;And all that is within me, bless His holy name! 103:2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,And forget not all His benefits: 103:3 Who forgives all your iniquities,Who heals all your diseases, 103:4 Who redeems your life from destruction,Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, 103:5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things,So that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. 103:6 The Lord executes righteousnessAnd justice for all who are oppressed. 103:7 He made known His ways to Moses,His acts to the children of Israel. 103:8 The Lord is merciful and gracious,Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy. 103:9 He will not always strive with us,Nor will He keep His anger forever. 103:10 He has not dealt with us according to our sins,Nor punished us according to our iniquities. 103:11 For as the heavens are high above the earth,So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; 103:12 As far as the east is from the west,So far has He removed our transgressions from us. 103:13 As a father pities his children,So the Lord pities those who fear Him. 103:14 For He knows our frame;He remembers that we are dust. 103:15 As for man, his days are like grass;As a flower of the field, so he flourishes. 103:16 For the wind passes over it, and it is gone,And its place remembers it no more. 103:17 But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlastingOn those who fear Him,And His righteousness to children's children, 103:18 To such as keep His covenant,And to those who remember His commandments to do them. 103:19 The Lord has established His throne in heaven,And His kingdom rules over all. 103:20 Bless the Lord, you His angels,Who excel in strength, who do His word,Heeding the voice of His word. 103:21 Bless the Lord, all you His hosts,You ministers of His, who do His pleasure. 103:22 Bless the Lord, all His works,In all places of His dominion.Bless the Lord, O my soul!
