1:1 サウルが死んだ後のことである。ダビデはアマレク人を討ってツィクラグに帰り、二日過ごした。 1:2 三日目に、サウルの陣営から一人の男がたどりついた。衣服は裂け、頭に土をかぶっていた。男はダビデの前に出ると、地にひれ伏して礼をした。 1:3 ダビデは尋ねた。「どこから来たのだ。」「イスラエルの陣営から逃れて参りました」と彼は答えた。 1:4 「状況はどうか。話してくれ」とダビデは彼に言った。彼は言った。「兵士は戦場から逃げ去り、多くの兵士が倒れて死にました。サウル王と王子のヨナタンも亡くなられました。」 1:5 ダビデは知らせをもたらしたこの若者に尋ねた。「二人の死をどうして知ったのか。」 1:6 この若者は答えた。「わたしはたまたまギルボア山におりました。そのとき、サウル王は槍にもたれかかっておられましたが、戦車と騎兵が王に迫っていました。 1:7 王は振り返ってわたしを御覧になり、お呼びになりました。『はい』とお答えすると、 1:8 『お前は何者だ』とお尋ねになり、『アマレクの者です』とお答えすると、 1:9 『そばに来て、とどめを刺してくれ。痙攣が起こったが死にきれない』と言われました。 1:10 そこでおそばに行って、とどめを刺しました。倒れてしまわれ、もはや生き延びることはできまいと思ったからです。頭にかぶっておられた王冠と腕につけておられた腕輪を取って、御主人様に持って参りました。これでございます。」 1:11 ダビデは自分の衣をつかんで引き裂いた。共にいた者は皆それに倣った。 1:12 彼らは、剣に倒れたサウルとその子ヨナタン、そして主の民とイスラエルの家を悼んで泣き、夕暮れまで断食した。 1:13 ダビデは、知らせをもたらした若者に尋ねた。「お前はどこの出身か。」「わたしは寄留のアマレク人の子です」と彼は答えた。 1:14 ダビデは彼に言った。「主が油を注がれた方を、恐れもせず手にかけ、殺害するとは何事か。」 1:15 ダビデは従者の一人を呼び、「近寄って、この者を討て」と命じた。従者は彼を打ち殺した。 1:16 ダビデは言った。「お前の流した血はお前の頭に返る。お前自身の口が、『わたしは主が油を注がれた方を殺した』と証言したのだから。」
1:17 ダビデはサウルとその子ヨナタンを悼む歌を詠み、 1:18 「弓」と題して、ユダの人々に教えるように命じた。この詩は『ヤシャルの書』に収められている。 1:19 イスラエルよ、「麗しき者」は／お前の高い丘の上で刺し殺された。ああ、勇士らは倒れた。 1:20 ガトに告げるな／アシュケロンの街々にこれを知らせるな／ペリシテの娘らが喜び祝い／割礼なき者の娘らが喜び勇むことのないように。 1:21 ギルボアの山々よ、いけにえを求めた野よ／お前たちの上には露も結ぶな、雨も降るな。勇士らの盾がそこに見捨てられ／サウルの盾が油も塗られずに見捨てられている。 1:22 刺し殺した者たちの血／勇士らの脂をなめずには／ヨナタンの弓は決して退かず／サウルの剣がむなしく納められることもなかった。 1:23 サウルとヨナタン、愛され喜ばれた二人／鷲よりも速く、獅子よりも雄々しかった。命ある時も死に臨んでも／二人が離れることはなかった。 1:24 泣け、イスラエルの娘らよ、サウルのために。紅の衣をお前たちに着せ／お前たちの衣の上に／金の飾りをおいたサウルのために。 1:25 ああ、勇士らは戦いのさなかに倒れた。ヨナタンはイスラエルの高い丘で刺し殺された。 1:26 あなたを思ってわたしは悲しむ／兄弟ヨナタンよ、まことの喜び／女の愛にまさる驚くべきあなたの愛を。 1:27 ああ、勇士らは倒れた。戦いの器は失われた。
1:1 Now it came to pass after the death of Saul, when David had returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites, and David had stayed two days in Ziklag, 1:2 on the third day, behold, it happened that a man came from Saul's camp with his clothes torn and dust on his head. So it was, when he came to David, that he fell to the ground and prostrated himself. 1:3 And David said to him, "Where have you come from?" So he said to him, "I have escaped from the camp of Israel." 1:4 Then David said to him, "How did the matter go? Please tell me." And he answered, "The people have fled from the battle, many of the people are fallen and dead, and Saul and Jonathan his son are dead also." 1:5 So David said to the young man who told him, "How do you know that Saul and Jonathan his son are dead?" 1:6 Then the young man who told him said, "As I happened by chance to be on Mount Gilboa, there was Saul, leaning on his spear; and indeed the chariots and horsemen followed hard after him. 1:7 "Now when he looked behind him, he saw me and called to me. And I answered, 'Here I am.' 1:8 "And he said to me, 'Who are you?' So I answered him, 'I am an Amalekite.' 1:9 "He said to me again, 'Please stand over me and kill me, for anguish has come upon me, but my life still remains in me.' 1:10 "So I stood over him and killed him, because I was sure that he could not live after he had fallen. And I took the crown that was on his head and the bracelet that was on his arm, and have brought them here to my lord." 1:11 Therefore David took hold of his own clothes and tore them, and so did all the men who were with him. 1:12 And they mourned and wept and fasted until evening for Saul and for Jonathan his son, for the people of the Lord and for the house of Israel, because they had fallen by the sword. 1:13 Then David said to the young man who told him, "Where are you from?" And he answered, "I am the son of an alien, an Amalekite." 1:14 So David said to him, "How was it you were not afraid to put forth your hand to destroy the Lord's anointed?" 1:15 Then David called one of the young men and said, "Go near, and execute him!" And he struck him so that he died. 1:16 So David said to him, "Your blood is on your own head, for your own mouth has testified against you, saying, 'I have killed the Lord's anointed.' " 1:17 Then David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son, 1:18 and he told them to teach the children of Judah the Song of the Bow; indeed it is written in the Book of Jasher: 1:19 "The beauty of Israel is slain on your high places!How the mighty have fallen! 1:20 Tell it not in Gath,Proclaim it not in the streets of Ashkelon-Lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice,Lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph. 1:21 "O mountains of Gilboa,Let there be no dew nor rain upon you,Nor fields of offerings.For the shield of the mighty is cast away there!The shield of Saul, not anointed with oil. 1:22 From the blood of the slain,From the fat of the mighty,The bow of Jonathan did not turn back,And the sword of Saul did not return empty. 1:23 "Saul and Jonathan were beloved and pleasant in their lives,And in their death they were not divided;They were swifter than eagles,They were stronger than lions. 1:24 "O daughters of Israel, weep over Saul,Who clothed you in scarlet, with luxury;Who put ornaments of gold on your apparel. 1:25 "How the mighty have fallen in the midst of the battle!Jonathan was slain in your high places. 1:26 I am distressed for you, my brother Jonathan;You have been very pleasant to me;Your love to me was wonderful,Surpassing the love of women. 1:27 "How the mighty have fallen,And the weapons of war perished!"

95:1 Oh come, let us sing to the Lord!Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. 95:2 Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving;Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. 95:3 For the Lord is the great God,And the great King above all gods. 95:4 In His hand are the deep places of the earth;The heights of the hills are His also. 95:5 The sea is His, for He made it;And His hands formed the dry land. 95:6 Oh come, let us worship and bow down;Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. 95:7 For He is our God,And we are the people of His pasture,And the sheep of His hand.Today, if you will hear His voice: 95:8 "Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion,As in the day of trial in the wilderness, 95:9 When your fathers tested Me;They tried Me, though they saw My work. 95:10 For forty years I was grieved with that generation,And said, 'It is a people who go astray in their hearts,And they do not know My ways.' 95:11 So I swore in My wrath,'They shall not enter My rest.' "
