4:1 イスラエルよ。今、わたしが教える掟と法を忠実に行いなさい。そうすればあなたたちは命を得、あなたたちの先祖の神、主が与えられる土地に入って、それを得ることができるであろう。 4:2 あなたたちはわたしが命じる言葉に何一つ加えることも、減らすこともしてはならない。わたしが命じるとおりにあなたたちの神、主の戒めを守りなさい。 4:3 あなたたちは、主がバアル・ペオルでなさったことをその目で見たではないか。あなたの神、主はペオルのバアルに従った者をすべてあなたの間から滅ぼされたが、 4:4 あなたたちの神、主につき従ったあなたたちは皆、今日も生きている。 4:5 見よ、わたしがわたしの神、主から命じられたとおり、あなたたちに掟と法を教えたのは、あなたたちがこれから入って行って得る土地でそれを行うためである。 4:6 あなたたちはそれを忠実に守りなさい。そうすれば、諸国の民にあなたたちの知恵と良識が示され、彼らがこれらすべての掟を聞くとき、「この大いなる国民は確かに知恵があり、賢明な民である」と言うであろう。 4:7 いつ呼び求めても、近くにおられる我々の神、主のような神を持つ大いなる国民がどこにあるだろうか。 4:8 またわたしが今日あなたたちに授けるこのすべての律法のように、正しい掟と法を持つ大いなる国民がどこにいるだろうか。 4:9 ただひたすら注意してあなた自身に十分気をつけ、目で見たことを忘れず、生涯心から離すことなく、子や孫たちにも語り伝えなさい。 4:10 あなたがホレブであなたの神、主の御前に立った日、主はわたしに言われた。「民をわたしのもとに集めなさい。わたしの言葉を彼らに聞かせ、彼らが地上に生きる限り、わたしを畏れることを学び、またそれを子らに教えることができるようにしよう。」 4:11 あなたたちが近づいて山のふもとに立つと、山は燃え上がり、火は中天に達し、黒雲と密雲が垂れこめていた。 4:12 主は火の中からあなたたちに語りかけられた。あなたたちは語りかけられる声を聞いたが、声のほかには何の形も見なかった。 4:13 主は契約を告げ示し、あなたたちが行うべきことを命じられた。それが十戒である。主はそれを二枚の石の板に書き記された。 4:14 主はそのとき、あなたたちが渡って行って得ようとしている土地で行うべき掟と法をあなたたちに教えるようにわたしに命じられた。
4:15 あなたたちは自らよく注意しなさい。主がホレブで火の中から語られた日、あなたたちは何の形も見なかった。 4:16 堕落して、自分のためにいかなる形の像も造ってはならない。男や女の形も、 4:17 地上のいかなる獣の形も、空を飛ぶ翼のあるいかなる鳥の形も、 4:18 地上を這ういかなる動物の形も、地下の海に住むいかなる魚の形も。 4:19 また目を上げて天を仰ぎ、太陽、月、星といった天の万象を見て、これらに惑わされ、ひれ伏し仕えてはならない。それらは、あなたの神、主が天の下にいるすべての民に分け与えられたものである。 4:20 しかし主はあなたたちを選び出し、鉄の炉であるエジプトから導き出し、今日のように御自分の嗣業の民とされた。 4:21 主はあなたたちのゆえにわたしに対して怒り、わたしがヨルダン川を渡ることも、あなたの神、主からあなたに嗣業として与えられる良い土地に入ることも決してない、と誓われた。 4:22 従って、わたしはヨルダン川を渡ることなくここで死ぬ。しかし、あなたたちは渡って行って、その良い土地を得る。 4:23 あなたたちは注意して、あなたたちの神、主があなたたちと結ばれた契約を忘れず、あなたの神、主が禁じられたいかなる形の像も造らぬようにしなさい。 4:24 あなたの神、主は焼き尽くす火であり、熱情の神だからである。 4:25 あなたが子や孫をもうけ、その土地に慣れて堕落し、さまざまの形の像を造り、あなたの神、主が悪と見なされることを行い、御怒りを招くならば、 4:26 わたしは今日、あなたたちに対して天と地を呼び出して証言させる。あなたたちは、ヨルダン川を渡って得るその土地から離されて速やかに滅び去り、そこに長く住むことは決してできない。必ず滅ぼされる。 4:27 主はあなたたちを諸国の民の間に散らされ、主に追いやられて、国々で生き残る者はわずかにすぎないであろう。 4:28 あなたたちはそこで、人間の手の業である、見ることも、聞くことも、食べることも、嗅ぐこともできない木や石の神々に仕えるであろう。 4:29 しかしあなたたちは、その所からあなたの神、主を尋ね求めねばならない。心を尽くし、魂を尽くして求めるならば、あなたは神に出会うであろう。 4:30 これらすべてのことがあなたに臨む終わりの日、苦しみの時に、あなたはあなたの神、主のもとに立ち帰り、その声に聞き従う。 4:31 あなたの神、主は憐れみ深い神であり、あなたを見捨てることも滅ぼすことも、あなたの先祖に誓われた契約を忘れられることもないからである。 4:32 あなたに先立つ遠い昔、神が地上に人間を創造された最初の時代にさかのぼり、また天の果てから果てまで尋ねてみるがよい。これほど大いなることがかつて起こったであろうか。あるいは、そのようなことを聞いたことがあろうか。 4:33 火の中から語られる神の声を聞いて、なお生きている、あなたと同じような民があったであろうか。 4:34 あるいは、あなたたちの神、主がエジプトにおいてあなたの目の前でなさったように、さまざまな試みとしるしと奇跡を行い、戦いと力ある御手と伸ばした御腕と大いなる恐るべき行為をもって、あえて一つの国民を他の国民の中から選び出し、御自身のものとされた神があったであろうか。 4:35 あなたは、主こそ神であり、ほかに神はいないということを示され、知るに至った。 4:36 主はあなたを訓練するために、天から御声を聞かせ、地上に大いなる御自分の火を示された。あなたは火の中からその言葉を聞いた。 4:37 主はあなたの先祖を愛されたがゆえに、その後の子孫を選び、御自ら大いなる力をもって、あなたをエジプトから導き出された。 4:38 神はあなたよりも強大な国々をあなたの前から追い払い、あなたを導いて、今日のように彼らの土地をあなたの嗣業の土地としてくださった。 4:39 あなたは、今日、上の天においても下の地においても主こそ神であり、ほかに神のいないことをわきまえ、心に留め、 4:40 今日、わたしが命じる主の掟と戒めを守りなさい。そうすれば、あなたもあなたに続く子孫も幸いを得、あなたの神、主がとこしえに与えられる土地で長く生きる。
4:41 モーセはその後、ヨルダン川の東側に三つの町を定め、 4:42 意図してでなく、以前から憎しみを抱いていたのでもないのに、隣人を殺してしまった者をそこに逃れさせ、その町の一つに逃れて生き延びることができるようにした。 4:43 それは、ルベン領の台地の荒れ野にあるベツェル、ガド領ギレアドのラモト、マナセ領バシャンのゴランである。

4:1 "Now, O Israel, listen to the statutes and the judgments which I teach you to observe, that you may live, and go in and possess the land which the Lord God of your fathers is giving you. 4:2 "You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you. 4:3 "Your eyes have seen what the Lord did at Baal Peor; for the Lord your God has destroyed from among you all the men who followed Baal of Peor. 4:4 "But you who held fast to the Lord your God are alive today, every one of you. 4:5 "Surely I have taught you statutes and judgments, just as the Lord my God commanded me, that you should act according to them in the land which you go to possess. 4:6 "Therefore be careful to observe them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who will hear all these statutes, and say, 'Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.' 4:7 "For what great nation is there that has God so near to it, as the Lord our God is to us, for whatever reason we may call upon Him? 4:8 "And what great nation is there that has such statutes and righteous judgments as are in all this law which I set before you this day? 4:9 "Only take heed to yourself, and diligently keep yourself, lest you forget the things your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. And teach them to your children and your grandchildren, 4:10 "especially concerning the day you stood before the Lord your God in Horeb, when the Lord said to me, 'Gather the people to Me, and I will let them hear My words, that they may learn to fear Me all the days they live on the earth, and that they may teach their children.' 4:11 "Then you came near and stood at the foot of the mountain, and the mountain burned with fire to the midst of heaven, with darkness, cloud, and thick darkness. 4:12 "And the Lord spoke to you out of the midst of the fire. You heard the sound of the words, but saw no form; you only heard a voice. 4:13 "So He declared to you His covenant which He commanded you to perform, the Ten Commandments; and He wrote them on two tablets of stone. 4:14 "And the Lord commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and judgments, that you might observe them in the land which you cross over to possess. 4:15 "Take careful heed to yourselves, for you saw no form when the Lord spoke to you at Horeb out of the midst of the fire, 4:16 "lest you act corruptly and make for yourselves a carved image in the form of any figure: the likeness of male or female, 4:17 "the likeness of any animal that is on the earth or the likeness of any winged bird that flies in the air, 4:18 "the likeness of anything that creeps on the ground or the likeness of any fish that is in the water beneath the earth. 4:19 "And take heed, lest you lift your eyes to heaven, and when you see the sun, the moon, and the stars, all the host of heaven, you feel driven to worship them and serve them, which the Lord your God has given to all the peoples under the whole heaven as a heritage. 4:20 "But the Lord has taken you and brought you out of the iron furnace, out of Egypt, to be His people, an inheritance, as you are this day. 4:21 "Furthermore the Lord was angry with me for your sakes, and swore that I would not cross over the Jordan, and that I would not enter the good land which the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance. 4:22 "But I must die in this land, I must not cross over the Jordan; but you shall cross over and possess that good land. 4:23 "Take heed to yourselves, lest you forget the covenant of the Lord your God which He made with you, and make for yourselves a carved image in the form of anything which the Lord your God has forbidden you. 4:24 "For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God. 4:25 "When you beget children and grandchildren and have grown old in the land, and act corruptly and make a carved image in the form of anything, and do evil in the sight of the Lord your God to provoke Him to anger, 4:26 "I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that you will soon utterly perish from the land which you cross over the Jordan to possess; you will not prolong your days in it, but will be utterly destroyed. 4:27 "And the Lord will scatter you among the peoples, and you will be left few in number among the nations where the Lord will drive you. 4:28 "And there you will serve gods, the work of men's hands, wood and stone, which neither see nor hear nor eat nor smell. 4:29 "But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul. 4:30 "When you are in distress, and all these things come upon you in the latter days, when you turn to the Lord your God and obey His voice 4:31 '(for the Lord your God is a merciful God), He will not forsake you nor destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your fathers which He swore to them. 4:32 "For ask now concerning the days that are past, which were before you, since the day that God created man on the earth, and ask from one end of heaven to the other, whether any great thing like this has happened, or anything like it has been heard. 4:33 "Did any people ever hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as you have heard, and live? 4:34 "Or did God ever try to go and take for Himself a nation from the midst of another nation, by trials, by signs, by wonders, by war, by a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the Lord your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes? 4:35 "To you it was shown, that you might know that the Lord Himself is God; there is none other besides Him. 4:36 "Out of heaven He let you hear His voice, that He might instruct you; on earth He showed you His great fire, and you heard His words out of the midst of the fire. 4:37 "And because He loved your fathers, therefore He chose their descendants after them; and He brought you out of Egypt with His Presence, with His mighty power, 4:38 "driving out from before you nations greater and mightier than you, to bring you in, to give you their land as an inheritance, as it is this day. 4:39 "Therefore know this day, and consider it in your heart, that the Lord Himself is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath; there is no other. 4:40 "You shall therefore keep His statutes and His commandments which I command you today, that it may go well with you and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which the Lord your God is giving you for all time." 4:41 Then Moses set apart three cities on this side of the Jordan, toward the rising of the sun, 4:42 that the manslayer might flee there, who kills his neighbor unintentionally, without having hated him in time past, and that by fleeing to one of these cities he might live: 4:43 Bezer in the wilderness on the plateau for the Reubenites, Ramoth in Gilead for the Gadites, and Golan in Bashan for the Manassites. 4:44 Now this is the law which Moses set before the children of Israel. 4:45 These are the testimonies, the statutes, and the judgments which Moses spoke to the children of Israel after they came out of Egypt, 4:46 on this side of the Jordan, in the valley opposite Beth Peor, in the land of Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon, whom Moses and the children of Israel defeated after they came out of Egypt. 4:47 And they took possession of his land and the land of Og king of Bashan, two kings of the Amorites, who were on this side of the Jordan, toward the rising of the sun, 4:48 from Aroer, which is on the bank of the River Arnon, even to Mount Sion (that is, Hermon), 4:49 and all the plain on the east side of the Jordan as far as the Sea of the Arabah, below the slopes of Pisgah.
6:30 さて、使徒たちはイエスのところに集まって来て、自分たちが行ったことや教えたことを残らず報告した。 6:31 イエスは、「さあ、あなたがただけで人里離れた所へ行って、しばらく休むがよい」と言われた。出入りする人が多くて、食事をする暇もなかったからである。 6:32 そこで、一同は舟に乗って、自分たちだけで人里離れた所へ行った。 6:33 ところが、多くの人々は彼らが出かけて行くのを見て、それと気づき、すべての町からそこへ一斉に駆けつけ、彼らより先に着いた。 6:34 イエスは舟から上がり、大勢の群衆を見て、飼い主のいない羊のような有様を深く憐れみ、いろいろと教え始められた。 6:35 そのうち、時もだいぶたったので、弟子たちがイエスのそばに来て言った。「ここは人里離れた所で、時間もだいぶたちました。 6:36 人々を解散させてください。そうすれば、自分で周りの里や村へ、何か食べる物を買いに行くでしょう。」 6:37 これに対してイエスは、「あなたがたが彼らに食べ物を与えなさい」とお答えになった。弟子たちは、「わたしたちが二百デナリオンものパンを買って来て、みんなに食べさせるのですか」と言った。 6:38 イエスは言われた。「パンは幾つあるのか。見て来なさい。」弟子たちは確かめて来て、言った。「五つあります。それに魚が二匹です。」 6:39 そこで、イエスは弟子たちに、皆を組に分けて、青草の上に座らせるようにお命じになった。 6:40 人々は、百人、五十人ずつまとまって腰を下ろした。 6:41 イエスは五つのパンと二匹の魚を取り、天を仰いで賛美の祈りを唱え、パンを裂いて、弟子たちに渡しては配らせ、二匹の魚も皆に分配された。 6:42 すべての人が食べて満腹した。 6:43 そして、パンの屑と魚の残りを集めると、十二の籠にいっぱいになった。 6:44 パンを食べた人は男が五千人であった。
6:45 それからすぐ、イエスは弟子たちを強いて舟に乗せ、向こう岸のベトサイダへ先に行かせ、その間に御自分は群衆を解散させられた。 6:46 群衆と別れてから、祈るために山へ行かれた。 6:47 夕方になると、舟は湖の真ん中に出ていたが、イエスだけは陸地におられた。 6:48 ところが、逆風のために弟子たちが漕ぎ悩んでいるのを見て、夜が明けるころ、湖の上を歩いて弟子たちのところに行き、そばを通り過ぎようとされた。 6:49 弟子たちは、イエスが湖上を歩いておられるのを見て、幽霊だと思い、大声で叫んだ。 6:50 皆はイエスを見ておびえたのである。しかし、イエスはすぐ彼らと話し始めて、「安心しなさい。わたしだ。恐れることはない」と言われた。 6:51 イエスが舟に乗り込まれると、風は静まり、弟子たちは心の中で非常に驚いた。 6:52 パンの出来事を理解せず、心が鈍くなっていたからである。
6:53 こうして、一行は湖を渡り、ゲネサレトという土地に着いて舟をつないだ。 6:54 一行が舟から上がると、すぐに人々はイエスと知って、 6:55 その地方をくまなく走り回り、どこでもイエスがおられると聞けば、そこへ病人を床に乗せて運び始めた。 6:56 村でも町でも里でも、イエスが入って行かれると、病人を広場に置き、せめてその服のすそにでも触れさせてほしいと願った。触れた者は皆いやされた。
6:30 Then the apostles gathered to Jesus and told Him all things, both what they had done and what they had taught. 6:31 And He said to them, "Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while." For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat. 6:32 So they departed to a deserted place in the boat by themselves. 6:33 But the multitudes saw them departing, and many knew Him and ran there on foot from all the cities. They arrived before them and came together to Him. 6:34 And Jesus, when He came out, saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion for them, because they were like sheep not having a shepherd. So He began to teach them many things. 6:35 When the day was now far spent, His disciples came to Him and said, "This is a deserted place, and already the hour is late. 6:36 "Send them away, that they may go into the surrounding country and villages and buy themselves bread; for they have nothing to eat." 6:37 But He answered and said to them, "You give them something to eat." And they said to Him, "Shall we go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread and give them something to eat?" 6:38 But He said to them, "How many loaves do you have? Go and see." And when they found out they said, "Five, and two fish." 6:39 Then He commanded them to make them all sit down in groups on the green grass. 6:40 So they sat down in ranks, in hundreds and in fifties. 6:41 And when He had taken the five loaves and the two fish, He looked up to heaven, blessed and broke the loaves, and gave them to His disciples to set before them; and the two fish He divided among them all. 6:42 So they all ate and were filled. 6:43 And they took up twelve baskets full of fragments and of the fish. 6:44 Now those who had eaten the loaves were about five thousand men. 6:45 Immediately He made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, to Bethsaida, while He sent the multitude away. 6:46 And when He had sent them away, He departed to the mountain to pray. 6:47 Now when evening came, the boat was in the middle of the sea; and He was alone on the land. 6:48 Then He saw them straining at rowing, for the wind was against them. Now about the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea, and would have passed them by. 6:49 And when they saw Him walking on the sea, they supposed it was a ghost, and cried out; 6:50 for they all saw Him and were troubled. But immediately He talked with them and said to them, "Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid." 6:51 Then He went up into the boat to them, and the wind ceased. And they were greatly amazed in themselves beyond measure, and marveled. 6:52 For they had not understood about the loaves, because their heart was hardened. 6:53 When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret and anchored there. 6:54 And when they came out of the boat, immediately the people recognized Him, 6:55 ran through that whole surrounding region, and began to carry about on beds those who were sick to wherever they heard He was. 6:56 Wherever He entered into villages, cities, or in the country, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged Him that they might just touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched Him were made well.
