17:1 いかなる欠陥であれ傷のある牛や羊を、あなたの神、主にいけにえとしてささげてはならない。それは、あなたの神、主のいとわれることである。 17:2 あなたの神、主が与えられるどこかの町で、あなたの中に、男にせよ女にせよ、あなたの神、主が悪と見なされることを行って、契約を破り、 17:3 他の神々に仕え、その神々や太陽、月、天の万象などわたしが命じたことのないものにひれ伏す者がいるならば、 17:4 その知らせを受け、それを聞いたときには、よく調べなさい。もし、それが確かな事実であり、イスラエルの中でこうした、いとうべきことが行われたのであれば、 17:5 この悪事を行った当の男ないし女を町の門に引き出し、その男ないし女を石で打ちなさい。彼らは死なねばならない。 17:6 死刑に処せられるには、二人ないし三人の証言を必要とする。一人の証人の証言で死刑に処せられてはならない。 17:7 死刑の執行に当たっては、まず証人が手を下し、次に民が全員手を下す。あなたはこうして、あなたの中から悪を取り除かねばならない。
17:8 あなたの町で、流血、もめ事、傷害などの訴えを裁くのが極めて難しいならば、直ちにあなたの神、主が選ばれる場所に上り、 17:9 レビ人である祭司およびその時、任に就いている裁判人のもとに行って尋ねなさい。彼らが判決を告げるであろう。 17:10 あなたは、彼らが主の選ばれる場所から告げる判決に従い、彼らの指示するとおりに忠実に実行しなければならない。 17:11 あなたは彼らの示す指示と下す判決に従い、彼らが告げる言葉に背いて、右にも左にもそれてはならない。 17:12 あなたの神、主に仕えてそこに立つ祭司あるいは裁判人を無視して、勝手にふるまう者があれば、その者を死刑に処し、イスラエルの中から悪を取り除かねばならない。 17:13 民は皆、これを聞くと、恐れを抱き、もはや勝手にふるまうことはないであろう。
17:14 あなたが、あなたの神、主の与えられる土地に入って、それを得て、そこに住むようになり、「周囲のすべての国々と同様、わたしを治める王を立てよう」と言うならば、 17:15 必ず、あなたの神、主が選ばれる者を王としなさい。同胞の中からあなたを治める王を立て、同胞でない外国人をあなたの上に立てることはできない。 17:16 王は馬を増やしてはならない。馬を増やすために、民をエジプトへ送り返すことがあってはならない。「あなたたちは二度とこの道を戻ってはならない」と主は言われた。 17:17 王は大勢の妻をめとって、心を迷わしてはならない。銀や金を大量に蓄えてはならない。 17:18 彼が王位についたならば、レビ人である祭司のもとにある原本からこの律法の写しを作り、 17:19 それを自分の傍らに置き、生きている限り読み返し、神なる主を畏れることを学び、この律法のすべての言葉とこれらの掟を忠実に守らねばならない。 17:20 そうすれば王は同胞を見下して高ぶることなく、この戒めから右にも左にもそれることなく、王もその子らもイスラエルの中で王位を長く保つことができる。
[ 17 ] 17:1 "You shall not sacrifice to the Lord your God a bull or sheep which has any blemish or defect, for that is an abomination to the Lord your God. 17:2 "If there is found among you, within any of your gates which the Lord your God gives you, a man or a woman who has been wicked in the sight of the Lord your God, in transgressing His covenant, 17:3 "who has gone and served other gods and worshiped them, either the sun or moon or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded, 17:4 "and it is told you, and you hear of it, then you shall inquire diligently. And if it is indeed true and certain that such an abomination has been committed in Israel, 17:5 "then you shall bring out to your gates that man or woman who has committed that wicked thing, and shall stone to death that man or woman with stones. 17:6 "Whoever is deserving of death shall be put to death on the testimony of two or three witnesses; he shall not be put to death on the testimony of one witness. 17:7 "The hands of the witnesses shall be the first against him to put him to death, and afterward the hands of all the people. So you shall put away the evil from among you. 17:8 "If a matter arises which is too hard for you to judge, between degrees of guilt for bloodshed, between one judgment or another, or between one punishment or another, matters of controversy within your gates, then you shall arise and go up to the place which the Lord your God chooses. 17:9 "And you shall come to the priests, the Levites, and to the judge there in those days, and inquire of them; they shall pronounce upon you the sentence of judgment. 17:10 "You shall do according to the sentence which they pronounce upon you in that place which the Lord chooses. And you shall be careful to do according to all that they order you. 17:11 "According to the sentence of the law in which they instruct you, according to the judgment which they tell you, you shall do; you shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left from the sentence which they pronounce upon you. 17:12 "Now the man who acts presumptuously and will not heed the priest who stands to minister there before the Lord your God, or the judge, that man shall die. So you shall put away the evil from Israel. 17:13 "And all the people shall hear and fear, and no longer act presumptuously. 17:14 "When you come to the land which the Lord your God is giving you, and possess it and dwell in it, and say, 'I will set a king over me like all the nations that are around me,' 17:15 "you shall surely set a king over you whom the Lord your God chooses; one from among your brethren you shall set as king over you; you may not set a foreigner over you, who is not your brother. 17:16 "But he shall not multiply horses for himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt to multiply horses, for the Lord has said to you, 'You shall not return that way again.' 17:17 "Neither shall he multiply wives for himself, lest his heart turn away; nor shall he greatly multiply silver and gold for himself. 17:18 "Also it shall be, when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write for himself a copy of this law in a book, from the one before the priests, the Levites. 17:19 "And it shall be with him, and he shall read it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the Lord his God and be careful to observe all the words of this law and these statutes, 17:20 "that his heart may not be lifted above his brethren, that he may not turn aside from the commandment to the right hand or to the left, and that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he and his children in the midst of Israel.
12:28 彼らの議論を聞いていた一人の律法学者が進み出、イエスが立派にお答えになったのを見て、尋ねた。「あらゆる掟のうちで、どれが第一でしょうか。」 12:29 イエスはお答えになった。「第一の掟は、これである。『イスラエルよ、聞け、わたしたちの神である主は、唯一の主である。 12:30 心を尽くし、精神を尽くし、思いを尽くし、力を尽くして、あなたの神である主を愛しなさい。』 12:31 第二の掟は、これである。『隣人を自分のように愛しなさい。』この二つにまさる掟はほかにない。」 12:32 律法学者はイエスに言った。「先生、おっしゃるとおりです。『神は唯一である。ほかに神はない』とおっしゃったのは、本当です。 12:33 そして、『心を尽くし、知恵を尽くし、力を尽くして神を愛し、また隣人を自分のように愛する』ということは、どんな焼き尽くす献げ物やいけにえよりも優れています。」 12:34 イエスは律法学者が適切な答えをしたのを見て、「あなたは、神の国から遠くない」と言われた。もはや、あえて質問する者はなかった。
12:35 イエスは神殿の境内で教えていたとき、こう言われた。「どうして律法学者たちは、『メシアはダビデの子だ』と言うのか。 12:36 ダビデ自身が聖霊を受けて言っている。『主は、わたしの主にお告げになった。「わたしの右の座に着きなさい。わたしがあなたの敵を／あなたの足もとに屈服させるときまで」と。』 12:37 このようにダビデ自身がメシアを主と呼んでいるのに、どうしてメシアがダビデの子なのか。」大勢の群衆は、イエスの教えに喜んで耳を傾けた。
12:38 イエスは教えの中でこう言われた。「律法学者に気をつけなさい。彼らは、長い衣をまとって歩き回ることや、広場で挨拶されること、 12:39 会堂では上席、宴会では上座に座ることを望み、 12:40 また、やもめの家を食い物にし、見せかけの長い祈りをする。このような者たちは、人一倍厳しい裁きを受けることになる。」
12:41 イエスは賽銭箱の向かいに座って、群衆がそれに金を入れる様子を見ておられた。大勢の金持ちがたくさん入れていた。 12:42 ところが、一人の貧しいやもめが来て、レプトン銅貨二枚、すなわち一クァドランスを入れた。 12:43 イエスは、弟子たちを呼び寄せて言われた。「はっきり言っておく。この貧しいやもめは、賽銭箱に入れている人の中で、だれよりもたくさん入れた。 12:44 皆は有り余る中から入れたが、この人は、乏しい中から自分の持っている物をすべて、生活費を全部入れたからである。」
12:28 Then one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, perceiving that He had answered them well, asked Him, "Which is the first commandment of all?" 12:29 Jesus answered him, "The first of all the commandments is: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 12:30 'And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' This is the first commandment. 12:31 "And the second, like it, is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these." 12:32 So the scribe said to Him, "Well said, Teacher. You have spoken the truth, for there is one God, and there is no other but He. 12:33 "And to love Him with all the heart, with all the understanding, with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love one's neighbor as oneself, is more than all the whole burnt offerings and sacrifices." 12:34 Now when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, He said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God." But after that no one dared question Him. 12:35 Then Jesus answered and said, while He taught in the temple, "How is it that the scribes say that the Christ is the Son of David? 12:36 "For David himself said by the Holy Spirit:'The Lord said to my Lord,"Sit at My right hand,Till I make Your enemies Your footstool." ' 12:37 "Therefore David himself calls Him 'Lord'; how is He then his Son?" And the common people heard Him gladly. 12:38 Then He said to them in His teaching, "Beware of the scribes, who desire to go around in long robes, love greetings in the marketplaces, 12:39 "the best seats in the synagogues, and the best places at feasts, 12:40 "who devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. These will receive greater condemnation." 12:41 Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury. And many who were rich put in much. 12:42 Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans. 12:43 So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, "Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; 12:44 "for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood."
